We test-drove cars last night. Both my car and DH's car have a sunroof and I thought they were becoming somewhat standard on everything but the most bottom-line of trim packages. Instead it was the opposite, a sunroof was only offered in the top-of-the-line package at both dealerships we went to.
Have they fallen out of favor, or is it the opposite and they're so in-demand that offering them on just the "luxury" packages is an up-sell strategy?
I have one, but I don't think I have ever used it. I usually keep it covered.
I did test drive an Audi that had a sunroof that went all the way from the front of the SUV to the back. That was pretty nice. I probably would have used it.

I don't have one on my current car. But my last car had one (actually 2) and I NEVER used it. It wasn't an upgrade, it's just part of the scion tc package - I only ever opened when my niece was w/ me bc she loved it..
Both of our previous cars had sunroofs. Initially we "used" the sunroof, but as time passed, it prety much stayed closed all the time to where I actually forgot we had one!
OUr present cars- no sunroof. We learned we don't use them and they aren't a priority for us.

I have one. We bought our car used and the sunroof wasn't really a selling point for me, but it is nice to have. It's probably not something I would have picked if I had a choice on a new car.
In general I hate driving with the windows open anyway, including the sunroof, but I do like the light it brings in.
My last car did and I could take it or leave it. It's not something I'd go out of my way to have, I really only used it for rude gestures to tell other people how I felt about their driving skills.
My car is a 2005. It does have a sun roof. My DH has the same make and model car as mine and it is a 2002 and he does have a sun roof. Neither of is think a sun roof is a make it or break it for our next car. We dont' use it at all really.

I have one, but I only use it to entertain the kiddo by sticking my hands out if we are in the car waiting for some reason.
It is also the only thing that has gone wrong with my car (an 04 Jetta wagon). It has a short in it, and will randomly start to open. I need to get that fixed - I didn't realize it was open last week and it rained.

Both of our cars do. We use them frequently and when we last test drove cars, we did drive some without a sunroof. I felt really boxed in. Just having that extra light helps, IMO.

We have a VW TDI wagon with a large sunroof that covers the entire car. It's pretty cool, however, I still think it's a waste of money and we have decided on our next car that we won't spent any additional money for a sunroof
My 2005 Chevy Impala has one. I agree that I could take it or leave it. I remember being really excited about it when I first got it, but realized while reading this post that I've maybe opened in 3-4 times this summer.

A sunroof was a must have on my last car. We upgraded to the next level just to get it. Of course they bundled it with a bunch of stuff like upgraded rims that we didn't care about. They were pretty common on CRVs at our dealership.
One of MH's old cars did. He loved it when he first got the car, but then stopped caring once he realized that ee never used it.
I bought a used jeep years ago that had one. After a big rainstorm, I discovered that the roof was leaking ... the mechanic said that the previous owner had had the sunroof installed and it hadn't been done properly. I had to keep caulking the sunroof to try and keep the car dry and it just never lasted that long before leaking again.
So not only do I not see the appeal, but now I'm pretty biased against them.
