I had strep once as an adult. So far my kid who’s almost 8 has never had it.
I used to see a family that I called the von strep family. The boys had strep 3-4 x a year. We finally tested the sister who never had it and she was a carrier. Not much you can do about that but we finally knew why they got it so often.
My now 4 year old had it every couple months between 6-18 months. Real annoying stuff. He also had a lot of ear infections.
That’s pretty crazy! Strep is pretty unusual in kid under 2 but they can certainly get it. I wonder if he was exposed to a carrier on a regular basis (especially since it doesn’t sound like he’s had it since).
If your kids get it a lot, someone in the family may be a carrier that doesn’t get symptoms but shares it with others. We have friends who’s kids get it all the time because of this. Mine have maybe had it once, and I’ve had it once since having kids. Strep can also present very weirdly, including night terrors and other nerological things.
She spiked a high fever Sunday night, vomited that evening at 7 then again at 12a and 1245a. No more vomiting since, but her temp keeps going between 99.5 and 102.7 and the higher it is the more lethargic and is. I'm kicking myself for not thinking strep earlier, but she's always presented with the classic sore throat\not eating. Uuuugggghhh. Sounds like I need to mention frequency with the pedi.
I am probably a\the carrier. H is on ABX for something unrelated, which just leaves me. Fuuuuuck. At least this means A is unlikely to get it since she's nursing? Maybe? I'm hopeful, but I'll ask if the strep comes up positive.
DS is 7 and has never had it. I had it once as a child. Now my niece (5) and nephew(8) have that crap all the time, like monthly it seems. I’ll have to tell my SIL about testing everybody in the house.

My kids have never had strep, although they’re only 5 and 1. My sister and I had it every single year as kids. I still remember the long skewer test gagging me.
My kid has never had strep, but she was the carrier. DH and I both had it 3x in a year and after I had an ENT consult she said to have my child tested first. We had to do 2 rounds of antibiotics on E and then she finally came back negative with the strep culture.
Our pedi also said that dogs can be carriers as well.
DD - once every year/year and a half. And she's had her tonsils out, but that doesn't seem to matter. (She had them out for other reasons, not for recurring strep).
DS gets it about twice a year. He's had his adenoids out but not tonsils, which again, isn't a cure all for strep.
My older one has had it maybe 3 times and my little one once (thought it presented with a rash as scarlett fever). I never had it until I was 35 and woo baby, that throat pain was like nothing I've ever felt. Haven't had it since (I am 41 now).
ETA: When my older one gets it, it usually presents with weird things like vomiting and headache. Sore throat is a secondary symptom.
My boys are 11 and almost 9 and I think they each had it twice. I know one time they had it together. I was having DS2 checked and had ds1 with me. They checked DS1 just to be sure and he had it which surprised me because he never complained and he didn't have a fever or any signs.

My kids have never had it but they’re only almost 2 and almost 4. I had it many many times as a kid, probably 20 times from K-4th grade, once in 5th grade and never since. Reading the other replies, there was probably a carrier around me in elementary school that went elsewhere for 5th grade and beyond.

I personally went through a phase where I was getting it every two-three months. My doctor actually put me on prescription allergy medicine and I haven’t had it since. I don’t know if it’s related, but I felt like every time I got sick, it turned into strep.
2-3 times a year for DD1, starting when she was 16 months old (she's 4 now). She just had it in April, and her ped said that if she gets it again this year she has to see an ENT. She usually gets it in the spring and fall, but has gotten it in the summer, too. DD2 has not gotten it yet, but she's only 13 months. H never gets it, and I've only had it three times in my whole life (once as a teenager, twice as an adult).
ETA- DD1 is another one who typically doesn't spike a fever with strep. She did this last time (and she was SCREAMING because her throat hurt so bad, which had also never happened before), but prior bouts presented as a sore throat and lethargy only.
Ugh. I have had it 4 times over the past 2 years. DH got it twice. I have always suspected that my kids may be carriers. Strep is seriously the freaking worst. It also doesn’t help that anytime I get a sore throat now I am paranoid it’s gonna be strep again.

My 14 year old gets it at least once or twice per year. Last year she had it twice in one summer! Her doc wants her to have a consultation on removing her tonsils. The other two have never had it.
