I drag my feet doing it so it takes eleven billionty times longer than necessary. My neighbor can get her whole family packed for a weeks vacation in an hour. I don't even know how its possible.

Unpacking is easy. Just throw all that shit on the floor and sort for laundry. Unless you are an over packer and you come back with a ton of clean stuff. Lol.
I leave tomorrow for a trip we've done many times before - I know what to take so I'm not worried. It's packing for trips where I don't know the climate well, what we'll be doing, etc, that I get stressed over.

I'm leaving for a month in 2 days and will be packing tomorrow night...late. Its like I need that last minute inspiration to finally do it I also hate unpacking. I haven't even emptied my suitcase from 2 weeks ago....

I'm an overpacker. I just wash everything when I unpack...it's much easier that way.
I justify it by telling myself that it isn't clean after being in the same suitcase as dirty clothes. If I didnt do that, the clean clothes would probably stay in the suitcase or in a folded pile on a chair until I decided that they had permanent folds and needed to be washed again to freshen them and get the folds out. ;p

Ditto this! I can unpack in like 15 mins.
I *hate* packing. It actually causes me a ton of anxiety, I don't know why. I used to procrastinate and then have a meltdown and end up packing at like midnight. I started making packing lists that I save on my computer a few years ago and it changed my life! Still stresses me out but it is much easier to have a checklist to start with.

I love packing. It's a fun challenge for me, especially to see if I can get everything for one trip into my favorite (tiny) suitcase - like a puzzle! I usually pack either the night before I leave (if it's an AM flight) or about an hour before I need to go to the airport, but I'm a very light packer and I generally plan things out with a thorough checklist first. My husband is more like you - he hates it and will wind up with stuff everywhere for days before we need to be anywhere.
Making an exhaustive list makes it suck less for me. Without it, I just feel overwhelmed. But yeah, our whole house is a disaster when we're packing for a major vacation.

Look, everything is very orderly over here with lists and all that. The strain is trying to pack perfectly with no over or under situation. Especially not over.
I haaaate packing. Partly because I pack for myself and both kids and take lots of time to make sure we have everything and outfits are planned...and then DH throws 3 t shirts and some underwear in the bag right before we leave and asks why I took so long to pack.
We leave next week for a 2 week trip where we will be experiencing weather from high 30 ish degrees to high 80s and I’m trying to pack for all 4 of us in one bag. It’s not going well.

Yes to this! It is so unfair. The sad part is that I even made a packing list for H. He needs very little, but one time he forgot underwear and a toothbrush for himself. Even those I remember! LOL.
Packing 4 in one bag is ambitious, good luck! I've done 3 in a one suitcase that we checked, but I'm not sure we could have fit a fourth. Do you have packing cubes? They helped *so much* to keep us organized both in the suitcase and at our destination. Otherwise I think my head would have exploded trying to find stuff!
Packing cubes and we hand wash as we are there (i bring Tide travel packs). We are going to 3 countries in two weeks, in one country doing 3 different home bases, and I don’t want to deal with two giant bags plus kids , plus a booster seat, plus backpacks etc. The first stop is the coldest (iceland) so if we wear our hiking boots and warmer outerwear on the plane I think we can do it. Of course, then we have to carry our outerwear on all other flights. I may be crazy, but I’m going to try!
And I’ve done 4 people for 10 days in 1bag before! But that was Hawaii and summer gear is all pretty small/easy to pack. Cold weather is what throws a wrench in things.
Not really. I spent so long in a LDR where I was getting on a plane regularly, I have it down to a science. Neither DH or I take bags any larger than carry ones, regardless of length of trip, location or time of year.
The biggest trick I have found is to make sure all the laundry is done, and never take something I have not worn before.
I like packing clothes. It's all the other shit we need that annoys me. Like, we're going to the beach in two weeks, and we're renting a house, so we'll probably want to take some cooking staples like olive oil so we don't have to buy every single thing while we're there.
Packing clothes doesn't stress me out. It's remembering all of the little things. A year or two ago I designated a toiletry bag that always remains packed with my favorite items. I prefer to use my regular products when away, vs. random drugstore minis. I recently did the same for DS, as we are away overnight at least once a month. I leave our toiletry bags in our duffles, so all I have to do is pick out a few outfits.

Can you mail your cold weather clothing home? It would be worth the cost to me to not have to lug it around.

I do this too. When I return from a trip, I restock it immediately and shove it back into my cabinet for the next trip.
The only time I didn’t do this, I forgot our toothbrushes.

Are we married to the same man??!! Then he spends the rest of the week whining about everything that he forgot to bring and wanting to borrow some of my stuff.
I love packing, it means we are off to someplace exciting!!
