Ill be heading to Baltimore in a few weeks for the marathon and I’m looking for some other races to plan some travel around. I’ve been running in Philly for so long that I just can’t do one more out and back on MLK drive (mostly because that’s my running route every weekend). My bucket list race is the NYC marathon, but I’m on year three of not getting in.
So if you could travel anywhere for a race, what race would it be?

My first full will be Pittsburgh, and I would also like to do Chicago. Eventually I will run the Richmond full too /I've done the half). Funnily enough, I've lived in all of those cities, which I think is why I want to run them. Maybe I should just go for it and add New Orleans, then I will have run everywhere I've lived as an adult up until now.
I also want to do one of the Disney races (either star wars or princess) at some point too.

Lol. I’f kill to do a run in philly again.
I’d love to do Big Sur (if I ever got my act together to enter the lottery in a timely matter) or Grandma’s. Internationally, i’d Love to do a race near or above the artic circle.
I have more of a bucket distance than a specific race. It's way in the future, but I really want to do a 140.6. I did a handful of 70.3s pre-kid, and it's my "next big thing" -- that I didn't get to graduate up to at the time.
Ironman Lake Placid is the obvious choice because I can drive to the course to ride on it for practice, but I am not 100% if that'll be it. A lot of people have rec'd IM Mont Tremblant.
Next on my list is the Royal Parks Half in London. We were traveling through London during the half last year and it’s been on my radar ever since. Maybe next year?
I'd love to run a marathon with one of my kids one day (not the same pace necessarily ) That's a waaaaaaays off! Grandma's and something along the West Coast. Jackson Hole Marathon (or something nearby). It was my aunt's favorite place and she insisted I put it on my bucket list.
Oh, I thought of another one: I am already an Adirondack 46r, but I want to become a Winter 46r too eventually. Of our original 46 high peaks, we climbed 12 in winter, so only 34 to re-do.
Annoyingly, in addition to the 12, we did 4 on March 23 and 28 of 2015, which was within a week of the equinox, but they were on the wrong side of it so they don't count regardless of wintery conditions. They have to actually be climbed between winter solstice and vernal equinox.
There are so many smaller races I would love to do, but at some point I really would love to do all the majors. So far I have only done Boston and Chicago, so I have some work to do. (And some lottery luck to wish for.) LOL
Sometimes I want to do Boston 2 Big Sur, and other times I think it sounds miserable.
ETA: gt7301b , I’m sorry. The cut sounds like it’s going to be a doozy this year. DH will get cut. He’s currently using Pfitz to train for Kiawah.

I want to do the Dopey Challenge at Disney! 5k, 10k, half and marathon, but I almost think that sounds miserable to be a visitor in Disney for 3 days before the marathon and not really be able to walk around all the parks in order to save my legs...would make more sense for a local maybe? Also Big Sur, Grandma's, and Boston.
I've done Chicago x 4, NYC and Twin Cities, so I have a lot of races I'd like to consider.
Thanks clseale, I knew when I qualified that I probably wouldn't get in, but I was still hoping there might be a chance. I do know that I ran about as good of a race as I had in me that day and I don't think I could have done anything differently that would have lead me to actually making the cut.

My bucket list is to complete a marathon distance or greater swim in all 50 states. There are some states where this will be easy, because there are swims there already on my list - END-WET, for example, and swim around Key West, which scares the crap out of me, but I'd like to try. However, there are other states where I'm not entirely positive they HAVE a marathon distance open water swim. I'm looking at you, Nebraska and Kansas. I think Nevada has also eliminated their only marathon distance race, so I'll have to make up my own, whether in Lake Mead or on the Nevada side of Tahoe (which feels like cheating because it's my home lake, LOL).
I do not have a specific race or event, but like Susie I have a specific distance. Running a marathon is on my bucket list. And I think I would like for it to be a local one but then I also love the idea of doing another H&F race with you all, so that is definitely on my bucket list too.

My aunt and uncle do swimmer kayak support for Key West! It looks crazy.

That race literally features the three things that make me most uncomfortable during a swim: jellyfish, overly warm (salt) water, and potential for my slowness to result in a DNF (there's a tidal change at the 2.5 hour mark and if you're not at a certain point by then, you'll end up needing to be pulled.) This is so far out of my comfort zone, it's going to take me a few years to work up the courage to enter.
I wouldn't mind a NYC half. I did a half in Brooklyn but it was out and back and so boring. My favorite was San Francisco Half (1st Half) and I loved it so much so although I have already done that one, I'd love to do it again. Anything scenic really. I'm in SoCal so I've run a lot of the big coastal races and ready for some greenery. Two local-ish ones I keep saying I'll do is the Carlsbad 5000 all day 20k and San Diego Hot Chocolate 15k but still have never done either.
