On the bright side, I have a complete wardrobe overhaul full of feminist t-shirts headed my way and I donated to four five women candidates for office last night.

Discussed a bit in yesterday’s thread, but a good summary of GOP’s female prosecutor/ Mitchell error: Rachel Mitchell's disappearing act confirms GOP blunder www.politico.com/story/2018/09/27/gop-senators-outside-ford-questioner-mistake-849246 “Rachel Mitchell not only is not laying a glove on her, but, in my view, is actually helping her credibility by the gentility with which these questions are being asked and the open-ended answers that the witness is being permitted to give,” Trump ally and former Judge Andrew Napolitano said on Fox News. “The president cannot be happy with this.”

Also, I just have this pit in my stomach this morning. It's the hearings, work, and a few personal things that have just left me feeling like I either want to punch something or just cry for a few hours.

I can't decide what I want on my signs today. I was thinking, "This vote is for a lifetime appointment, not prom king. Are you sure you want your name attached to him forever" but it's probably too long. I also thought "Protect US. Not a combative, belligerent obvious liar"

I definitely agree it was not very effective as a questioning tactic. But it was HUGELY effect as a piece of the puzzle to make the hearings seem like a pseudo-trial, which in turn enables responses that members will vote to confirm Kavanaugh because there "wasn't enough evidence to find guilt." This is the way they have fundamentally altered the purpose of the hearing and the standard by which nominees should be judged and it's been extremely successful for them. Mitchell was a huge part of creating that illusion.

This is long, but I’d be tempted to find a way to use the Abigail Adams quote: “If perticuliar care and attention is not paid to the Laidies we are determined to foment a Rebelion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation.”
The ABA statement is getting a lot of coverage today. It provides top cover for them to ask for an FBI investigation for their vote but I think we’re beyond that point.

CALL TODAY. Every Republican Senator (EVERY one, even the hopeless ones). Ask for an FBI investigation. There has to be a groundswell for this. Particularly call the people on that huddle list: Manchin, Donnelly, Collins, Murkowski, and Flake for good measure.
Do not call from out of state unless you're calling Grassley, I'll make an exception for that.
I'm feeling so sad about comments I'm seeing on FB. Mostly from blood relatives. How can I be related to such cold and evil people?
My sister was posting all over fb all day yesterday (I have her hidden but my husband sent me screen shots), of her mocking the whole thing and calling it a charade, and joking she would buy her sons calendars to protect them from evil women.
I fucking hate her. I unfriended her. I was pissed as hell at her for something else already.

It's not too late.
I called Sasse’s office yesterday and they hung up on me. 🤷🏼♀️

I’ll call again today.
I think we've discussed here what I think of Sasse.
I have a question re: Lindsey Graham’s outburst yesterday. How is this is any different from how Garland? I suspect the answer is Obama/Democrat nominee but am not sure if I’m missing something. Graham feels his party has the right to fill this seat before midterms and power may shift. Midterms are more low stakes (relatively speaking) than a presidential election. But Garland never got a hearing.
I have a family friend who shared a gross meme praising Graham and I want to call him out. The hypocrisy seems so blatant but I guess that’s where we are now.
I'm just so angry. At best, dude is an unhinged political judge. At best. Do we really want a Supreme Court justice who is clearly easily ruffled and partisan?
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

It is not any different. Graham is a hypocrite of the worst kind. They all are. You aren't missing anything, but it's probably not worth arguing about it just for your blood pressure and sanity. It's impossible to get through to people who refuse to acknowledge facts.
I just talked to Corker’s office - I had to call 3 numbers because no one answered at one and vm was full at the other. I ended up crying which I do when I’m mad. Ughhh.
Eta - it was a woman I spoke with. She was so cavalier about it -“Corker listened to both sides and didn’t hear any corroborating evidence.” I told her an fbi investigation would have found that or exculpatory evidence. I’m just baffled a woman was so nonchalant about the whole thing.

I always get shaky voice when I call.
Me too. And even if I’ve rehearsed and written down what I’m going to say, I start rambling like irrational person. I hate it. I’m always just SO MAD by the time I call and I’m calling Sasse and Fischer so I know they don’t give a fuck anyway.

I will also say I had a really good vent session with two of the teachers at my kids' daycare this morning at drop off (they are women ~15 years younger than me) and it left me with a glimmer of hope. They are outraged and not standing down.

Graham was on Hannity last night. He said, among other things, after being sure that Kavanaugh is innocent and that he's the right choice for the court, that he is "more convinced than ever" that "Ford has a problem and destroying Judge Kavanaugh's life won't fix her problem."
My jaw is literally hanging open. He is basically calling her crazy and deluded. It is the worst kind of disrespect and dismissal of someone who claims sexual assault.
And he will be *applauded* for it. A influential member of the Senate with nationwide exposure is validating this kind of rhetoric. I feel sick.
