Oh. Joke. It’s early. And see my food/fridge saga on the ML randoms. Lol
It sounds like your food survived okay? How's the fridge doing? My freezer had been leaking water and the Google told me it was some drain that had gotten blocked. Sure enough, a little hot water cleared it and it hasn't leaked since. I had to take my food to work since it was the summer. It was stressful though because I was afraid it would all go south.
I’m sorry to those impacted. Donald trump is such a fucking asshole and so is every gop member who supports his selfish bullshit.
I’m willing to blame Paul Ryan too. He could have brought the bill that passed the Senate to the floor, but instead he brought a bill that he knew wouldn’t pass the Senate to the floor.

This is really the dems fault though.
I do get angry about this but then I remember 33ish% will always follow him and believe him. But I think that most independents will realize what’s going on.

You have a much more optimistic outlook on this whole mess than I do.
I saw on twitter that Chuck and Nancy said something like they'll open up the government when they are in charge in January. Anyone know how they can do that?

With the new House in, they can pass the version of the bill that will also pass the Senate (that stupid Ryan refused to put up). What the House passed doesn’t have enough support to pass the Senate. I think but am not positive that even with the shifting numbers in the Senate in Jan that it should have support to pass. Not sure whether Trump will sign.

Trump would be stupid if he let this happen. It could be framed that the new congress saved the day because of the Dems and now he is going to veto the bill (as he said he would) to continue the shut down.

I almost wrote that! But I’m not sure he cares. He doesn’t have the political smarts to realize this, and he doesn’t appear to listen to any of the people who will likely tell him this.

Lol I almost wrote that it would be stupid but he might not care/understand.
I have heard this date mentioned other places but I don’t remember where. Given the holidays I will not be surprised at all it it lasts that long or longer.

Jan 3rd is the first day of the new Congressional session
Same. Lowering the amount shows trump doesn’t want this shut down to go on. I hope they don’t take it.
It’s very good bait considering his party has the Senate majority and will again in the new Congress. I’m worried.
Can you explain why they’d take that when a bill was passed 100-0 in the senate and I assume would pass again and pass in the new house? Is it because it is short term?
Sorry if this is stupid I just don’t politics well.

Because they have pressure to both end the shutdown sooner (win for Republicans if it happens before new House is seated) and pull out a win for a president of their party. I’m not convinced they’ll definitely go for that, but lowering the amount sweetens the deal some for Senators who aren’t ideologically opposed to the wall but are concerned about spending.*

*disclaimer: just my own personal analysis
Don't they need 60 votes though?
Are you that confident that no Democrats would vote for it? I wish I was. The pressure to end the shutdown is pretty high.
ETA: I’m not saying this would for sure happen or anything but it makes me nervous. I trust Schumer to do his best but some members of the caucus are useless.
