In the fall of 1968, Donald J. Trump received a timely diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels that led to his medical exemption from the military during Vietnam.
For 50 years, the details of how the exemption came about, and who made the diagnosis, have remained a mystery, with Mr. Trump himself saying during the presidential campaign that he could not recall who had signed off on the medical documentation.
Now a possible explanation has emerged about the documentation. It involves a foot doctor in Queens who rented his office from Mr. Trump’s father, Fred C. Trump, and a suggestion that the diagnosis was granted as a courtesy to the elder Mr. Trump.
Acting A.G. Matthew Whitaker has incorrectly claimed on his résumé and in government documents to have been named an Academic All-American while playing football at the University of Iowa, according to the docs and the organization that awards that honor.

@@@@@ this breaks my heart. I hate that this is happening.
It seems the talk with Republicans is that this also happened under Obama’s watch so it’s no issue for them. (Just discovered my nephew is Republican and his friends worked for the 45 campaign-ugh). Anyway, I can’t find anything to support this claim. Not that it will change my mind but I would like a clear answer to this. Any ideas?

It may have happened under the Obama administration too, but that's not an excuse or justification for the nation to keep shrugging its shoulders about it.

Apparently AF1 has been spotted over UK and headed to Central Europe. Trump may be taking an unannounced trip to Middle East to visit troops after all?
Or fleeing to Russia?
Explains the blissful lack whining on Twitter today.

I would hope the President would be examining this kind of data and info, since its release coincided with his takeover, and discovering best practices to implement as policy. But, no. We are continuing failed practices that now trickle down to children, only now we are doing it with racism as its main motivation.

I just got the NYT alert that he's arrived in Iraq. How do people spot this?!

Maybe MAYBE if he was working hard to support them I could let it slide but he shows active disrespect in his words and actions. So no, a trip just to check the box does not earn points.

I mean, it's a giant custom-painted plane.
LOL I get that - but I guess I am thinking of the last time I actually looked up to notice the type of plane that was flying over head. I don't do it often, if ever.

There are people that do weird things for hobbies. A guy at work listens to railroad scanner chatter, and pops out of his office to watch the train go by every time. He's even visited gigantic switchyards for vacations. So watching planes isn't out of the norm for people like him.
My dad loves checking out flightaware, and it's a pretty sophisticated site so I imagine that means he's not alone.
When we went on a trip a couple of weeks ago, my H knew exactly what type of aircraft we were flying and how the seats are laid out for each leg of our trip. Flight geeks gonna geek.

I will admit to doing this - so I can pick the best seat. I love the site seatguru. On a flight to India a few months ago I was able to find an economy seat with no seat in front so I had all the leg room in the world for no extra money. WIN!

Oh no. I had booked the flights and just picked seats randomly. This is the shit he was looking up like the day before our flight instead of packing. The man didn't take sunglasses on a Mexican vacation, but damn did he know what year our aircraft was manufactured.

Lol- my dad recently decided to renew his decades-lapsed pilot license and spent the entire holiday glued to pilot videos on YouTube. The good news is he isn't watching as much fox, but I'm not sure if that makes him more or less informed.
My grandpa used to have a CB radio and chatted with truck drivers all day. He was a slight, quiet, mild mannered guy so I guess he did it as an alter ego kind of thing. Too bad he passed before internet message boards became a thing.

News reporting on this story with a former head of ICE stated that it hasn't happened in more than ten years. So either early or pre-Obama. Daily Caller states that 18 died under the Obama administration, all between 24 and 49 years of age. (https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/18/ice-detainee-deaths-acknowledged-obama-not-investigated/ if anyone wants to give them click counts.) Refinery29 has a report that FY 2017 has the highest incidence of deaths in any year since 2009, outlining some very unacceptable standard sof practice highlighting staff ignoring requests for medical care and a lack of standardized reporting between government and for-profit centers. www.refinery29.com/en-us/2018/08/206116/child-immigrant-ice-detention-centers-death-inadequate-medical-care

My dad was a commercial pilot and could look at a plane in the sky and identify it as a Fronteir or United and based on the time and direction even estimate sometimes the specific one... Probably Flight 93 to Seattle or whatever. He was also an annoying person with 20/10 vision so he could make out things the rest of our family couldn’t. But was trained to be able to Identify aircraft at a distance and the speed and trajectory at a glance.
As for who spotted this in England I’m going to imagine crop circle and ufo conspiracy theorists with holiday time on their hands and binoculars in their pocket. 🤪

Back in the day, before internets and the such, this is how my ex used to spend his time when he was first disabled. I came home from work one day to find a 20' CB antenna hooked up to the roof of our not-even-1000 s.f. ranch house, on a small platform tacked to the center of our roofline and tied to each corner with a yellow nylon rope. He was so excited and thrilled and proud about his (and his friend's) accomplishment. My response was...less than flattering.
