I'm glad she was found alive, but I can't imagine the trauma she's been through between her captivity and the fact that her parents were murdered. I hope she's able to have the support and privacy that she needs now to begin the process of working through everything that's happened.
What a bizarre story. Makes you wonder if this was just a random home invasion gone horribly wrong, or if the abductor is someone they knew in real life, or she "knew" from the Internet or something.
I just came in to post this. I am so glad she was found. Wow. It will be fascinating to see this story unfold.
That's gonna be a FASCINATING transition.
Sorry, it's not funny. It reminds me of Elizabeth Smart, who was missing for longer, but dealt with a lot of trauma, obviously, due to her kidnapping. I hope Jayme recovers well.
I’m so glad she was found or escaped. That poor girl and her family. There’s a press conference at 10am CT so hopefully they’ll share more details on what happened. I keep wondering why they picked her since she was being held 2 counties away.
What an amazing resolution. So many right notes hitting at the right time. She managed to escape. The woman who found her just happened to be at her cabin that weekend. The dog needed to be walked at just that time. That they walked in the direction that took them to her. That she walked in the direction to find them. The woman's lifetime career being one that helps children so she likely had a somewhat better understanding than many.
So many little opportunities that *could* have been missed but weren't.
My first thought was also of Elizabeth Smart. Poor woman will always be someone's "first thought." She'll never be able to run away from that.
I'm also interested in knowing the connection between her abductor and her family, if there was one. 65 miles isn't a random event, I wouldn't think.

Wow, thank goodness for that woman walking her dog at that moment and leading her to a nearby house. Amazing that the suspect was found and arrested so quickly thereafter. That poor girl, I cannot fathom what she has been through.
They said the guy who took her was 21 and the girl was always the target, not the parents. I guess at 4pm they are going to release more information including whether or not the girl had any prior contact with the guy.
I wonder if they talked on the internet? So horrible.

Wow. Its scary to think how he could've found/met her.

You're absolutely right. That was a poor choice of words and I apologize for making it sound like entertainment versus a horrific tragedy. I've been reading about the case (even posted about it here) and all the speculation surrounding what happened and never thought we would find out "why," but that's not an excuse.
They just did another quick press conference. They have the shotgun they think was the murder weapon. No one in Jaymes family had contact with the suspect prior to him coming to their home. He also changed his appearance on the day it happened. Jayme escaped while he was away from home. He’ll be charged with 1st degree homicide and kidnapping on Monday in court.
I’m wondering how he even knew who she was. He lived 70 miles north and had only lived in the same town as Jayme very briefly several years ago. This is all so strange.
I hope Jayme will be ok, she’s being reunited with her family now.
