I just don't see how he could be taking an overnight trip in less than a week if his wife is overdue and the baby definitely hasn't been born yet. Like... she's DEFINITELY past her due date. So they will have a baby that is literally days old by next Thursday (how many days is TBD).
BUT Thursday would also be a great day to have a birthday, just saying. From experience.

I mean, a flight to The Hague is 45 mins and then a 2-3 hour engagement and 45 min-1 hr flight back isn’t a long time. If the baby is born this weekend, which seems likely based on him amending the trip, it doesn’t seem unlikely. Most fathers don’t get much paternity leave so even if he’s a royal, it’s not really that much time apart. A 5 hour work day at most.

I think it was weird for them to announce the travel plans on Wednesday & then amend the plans today. If the baby hasn't been born yet then it's all subject to change. Do they have to announce travel plans with a certain amount of advanced notice? Are they trying to create a media/fan buzz about the baby?
It was probably considered best to change the itinerary to the minimum, now, instead of last minute. So as to not further inconvenience whoever he was supposed to meet with.

That or something like an PR intern announced the plans and they were like "WTF STEVE don't you realize he's about to have a baby???"

This is what I’m starting to believe.
The reports are saying that they are pulling back on Harry’s trip length because both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince of Wales/Duchess of Cornwall are both travelling and there isn’t enough media coverage to cover all 3 if Harry goes too. But all these trips have been planned for awhile so it makes no sense that they just realized this now.

I am still confused! Initially they said they weren’t immediately announcing the birth because Harry and Meghan wanted time as a new family first. Now they’re saying they tell us when she goes into labor. It can’t be both ways! Unless they’re going to announce she’s in labor and not update again for days which seems ridiculous.
The royal family just needs better people handling their affairs. They’re so sloppy sometimes.

I took it to mean that the palace will announce when she is in labor and then again when the baby is safely delivered but Meagan will not be appearing in public with the baby immediately afterward. I think keeping it private does not mean the same thing as keeping it secret.
