HR finally approved the raise to account for my new graduate degree. Unfortunately, it's about 2/3 of what I had hoped for and I won't even break even once I start paying back my student loans. I'm still thankful my boss was able to get me anything though. Stupid institutional bullshit ties her hands.
Tomorrow I find out whether the abstract from my master's project has been accepted for a big national conference. I am not sure if I want to be or not. It would be mildly good for my career but I am absolutely terrified of having to present.

You'll be great! Just remember everyone there has sweaty palms too because they're all a bunch of nerds

You do! Everyone is terrified at first, but it's super exciting. In my field, even though PI's can be sometimes aggressive to each other, most people are very nice to graduate students and understand everyone had to learn sometime.
I’m on my plane to LAX. I don’t think I could ever hack living in Los Angeles. It’s painfully obvious that I don’t have the fashion sense of the people who do live there.

I'm starting to wonder if I see colors differently than other people or something. Today, two different people complimented me on my blazer. One told me coral looks great on me and the other said she loved the orange. My blazer is red. Like bright red.
A few days ago someone made an off-hand comment about my purple coat. I was confused because I have a purple coat, but was wearing my burgundy one. She was talking about the burgundy one.

After watching that video I had to get some Chex mix at the gas station I stopped at. I was highly disappointed they only had Chex mix and not the superior gardettos or the all rye chip gardettos.
I treated myself to a day pass to the United lounge. I figured I could eat/drink $59 worth during my 5 hour layover
Oh! So are the food and drinks all included in the $59 pass fee?
I have passes with my United card and finally got to use one recently in Chicago. There's a pretty big spread of food. Cheese, fruit, crackers, maybe some sort of sandwich, soups, and sweets. There were dispensers with fancy fruit infused water, soda machines, and coffee/tea. Certain wines and, I assume, beers were free but they also serve higher end wine and liquor for cost. I stuck with the free white wine which was pretty good!
Shit, I just realized my other pass expires 2/22. Anyone flying between now and then from an airport with a United lounge? I think I can share the code.
I kept smelling something bad. I had dog poop on both shoes. I cleaned them off but they still smell. So I'll be spending lunch going home for new, poop free shoes. FML.
I am proofreading a yearbook today. It's taken on a whole new meaning.
Quoting myself - ha.
I forgot to add that I am sitting here, wearing reading glasses and looking up any terms I don't recognize on urban dictionary. I am sure my search history is now flagged.

I'd told my husband not to buy flowers for valentine's because they're just overpriced and die and I am perfectly content with buying some from a grocery store in a couple of weeks. So he instead bought me a Kamala t-shirt and made a donation to her campaign. It's good to be seen, haha.
