2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My mom BFF was unexpectedly induced over the weekend at 36 weeks! She was leaking amniotic fluid. I'm waiting to hear if baby has arrived yet. I'm so excited for her yet sad to lose my pregnant complaining partner, ha. It also makes things feel more urgent; I need to start crossing things off my list - namely buying a car seat. I think I'll put my big Amazon order in this week.
3. Questions for the group? For those that are AMA, has anyone's doctor NOT mentioned inducing at 39 weeks? I feel like everyone here has the same story but my practice hasn't mentioned it. I was AMA last time, but barely (turned 35 during 3rd tri). I think I'm going to bring it up next appt. At this point knowing I have an end date sounds appealing...
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? We are not religious, but did the whole Easter bunny thing and got together for Easter dinner with family. DS OD'ed on chocolate, skipped nap, and then was a NIGHTMARE last night. Ended up in bed with us at 10pm but didn't really sleep, and I woke up to him running around our room at 4:30am. It's gonna be a loooong day. He had fun yesterday though. My sister's kids are teens so they dote on him and he eats it up.

scm1011 I am way AMA and I have asked several times and none of the drs in my practice want to induce at 39 weeks. It’s my last week and I am not dilated at all, no progress and the Dr just told me to wait and see. Everything hurts. I actually came here to ask for tips to help this along outside of the regular tips. I’m getting a foot massage, going tonwalk more, what else can I do?? I keep going everywhere with my hospital bag and people keep asking when I’m due and saying omg why are you out? Why not people? I need to live!
Also, how exciting for your friend, I hope everything is well.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Fetal EKG last week was clear. YAY! Otherwise, just cruising along here.
3. Questions for the group? Nope
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? Both! We celebrated Passover at BIL/SIL on Saturday and we hosted Easter yesterday. It was freaking exhausting. I made a new menu of stuff and we had 14 adults and 4 kids. Whew. My house is a mess, but the food was good and the kids had a blast. DS didn't even stop to eat yesterday so I'm pretty sure today he'll be shoveling food in. He was too busy to even eat dessert! We hid eggs and the kids took over our bounce house. The weather was amazing too. Hosting always makes me feel like a hot mess running around. I think people had fun though? I collapsed into bed last night.
lovelyshoes, ugh, i'm sorry. With my DS I was DONE at 39+5, so I decided to try the manual breast pump because I heard that could induce labor. Labor started a few hours later. Who knows if it was a coincidence or not, but worth a shot maybe!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? As I’m getting close to the end of first trimester, I’m crossing my fingers I start feeling better. With my first two I threw up and was generally miserable until I delivered, so I’d love a different outcome this time!
3. Questions for the group? Has anyone had a magic cure for congestion/sinus issues that are pregnancy safe? My allergies have been killer and what I wouldn’t give for a decongestant...
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? We had a great weekend celebrating with my extended family on Saturday and H’s on Sunday, but mine was 3 hours away each way, gone all day, and now I feel like I need another weekend to recover and get stuff done.
1. How far along are you this week? 33+5. 5+3 to go!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Got 95% of the stuff ordered. Have sheets on the crib now, which helps it feel more done. Chair comes Wednesday. Just need a couple more things, but I'm having trouble finding a couple of decorations I'm looking for.
Mostly I'm just tired of being tired. I had a meltdown after going to the grocery store yesterday, and then I get sent to the couch so I got practically nothing done. I think I've hit the plateau of being pregnant vs. having a newborn. But MIL leaves for 2 weeks tomorrow so this baby better stay in!!
3. Questions for the group? Nah
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? C got something from the Easter Bunny, and he loved all of it so that's cool (a bucket, garden tools and a shaker egg). Then we had dinner with MIL. In true toddler fashion, C basically ate a roll for dinner lol.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I feel like my nausea/food aversion are letting up a bit finally. So thankful!
3. Questions for the group? None
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? We didnt do as much like we usually do. I worked Sunday morning and my H worked nights this week and slept half the day. We did a little egg hunt and Easter basket with Z in the morning, that was about it this year.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I am so over work. My last day is in 2 weeks and it cannot come soon enough! They didn’t plan very well for my leaving and now someone is out on sick leave and are now so short staffed, we have mandatory overtime. Since I am not sleeping well, my patience is at an all time low and combined it’s a bad combo. I just keep telling myself, soon enough, I will be done. Good things this week are that I ordered our crib skirt, so once I get that, the nursery will be done! This year is our 10 year anniversary, and H and I booked a weekend getaway that coincides with my last day and I can’t wait to just go relax!
3. Questions for the group? Nothing this week
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? My brother, SIL and their kids came down and stayed at my parents. I went over there Friday and Saturday to visit. It’s always fun to see them!
2. Vent: I'm down to like 3 t-shirts that actually cover my belly. My dog is just the right height to stick her cold wet nose right onto the underside of my belly if I wear under belly pants and a shirt that doesn't quite make it. HATE. Since I have like 5-6 weeks to go, I'm really trying not to buy more clothes, but it's getting hard.
I also really struggle with standing for any meaningful period of time. Walking is ok, but standing still is brutal. Anyone else with that? It's weird. I have to go to a funeral this coming Sat. and am a little worried about standing, especially under the circumstances. It's going to be an incredibly difficult funeral, for a whole family of 5 (the wife was my friend), an hour drive away. Calvin won't be coming with because he's going to stay home with our 3 yo. (I can't bring a 3 yo to a funeral for, among 4 other people, another 3 yo.) It'll be a hard day.
3. I got a gel pedicure 2 weeks ago, hoping it would last a long time and I could go less frequently for the rest of my pregnancy (while I'm wearing a lot of Birkenstocks and not able to reach my feet). I got one in my last pregnancy and it lasted forever! This morning I noticed one toenail had totally come off, and another one is half peeled off. Boo. Anyone get gel pedis more regularly and can comment on typical duration? Debating whether to just get the cheaper regular ones if I'm only going to get 2 weeks.
Related: anyone have a rec for a good raspberry color? Not quite red, not quite pink? I have red now, but would like something a little pinker.
4. We did Easter, and it actually went pretty well. DD had fun coloring eggs, she was excited about the easter bunny, napped pretty well, weather was nice, and we had easter dinner at my IL's IL's which I was admittedly dreading a little but went nicely.
Susie I hear you on the clothes. I'm having the same problem. I'm pretty much living in H's not so XL shirts while at home. All of my pants are tight, my shorts are super tight and I can only wear a handful of my already limited wardrobe. But who wants to buy clothes for 5-6 weeks??
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I passed my 1-hour glucose test! But it turns out I have anemia, so I’m taking an iron supplement and trying to improve my diet.
3. Questions for the group? Nope
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? We had a very casual lunch with DH’s family. Easter is not really a holiday we celebrate much. The kids did have a bunch of egg hunts this past week and got to see the Easter bunny a few times.
scm1011, I’m AMA (turned 36 in March) and my OB hasn’t mentioned early induction. He said I’m a good candidate for vaginal delivery as long as the baby is in position and he’d let me go up to 41 weeks (with DS we had to induce at 41w).
This OB doesn’t like to go past 41w so he’ll induce then, but he won’t induce earlier unless he sees something wrong. I guess each practice is different...
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I need this cold and/or allergies to quit. Benadryl is not touching this, and neither is the neti pot anymore. I dislike Spring.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? Ok I guess. Nice family dinner on Friday but FIL went off and turned the Avengers on TV in the other room and I didn’t realize. DD has had nightmares for three nights now. I got a migraine on Saturday but DH got all the work done on the house. DD (3.5) has been an absolute disaster this past month through the whole house prep and selling process. She’s not doing better now, even after an intensive weekend of mommy daughter time. Yesterday she biked for 8km and I chased after her. She chafed her little butt on the bike seat! My legs are so sore today.
1. How far along are you this week? New here, I'm 12+3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I'm having my first tri-screening on Thursday, and a preventative cerclage put in on Friday, so busy nervous week here
3. Questions for the group? Anyone have a cerclage put in, what should I expect? I had pprom at 20 weeks last year and lost my son a week later, so hoping to do everything to keep this little one cooking.
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go?
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? We went away for a long weekend and it was glorious. Lots of pool time at the resort, amazing spa treatments, fantastic food, so happy we spent the time.
My crotch is still on fire when I'm on my feet for more than 20 minutes.
My OB office is really pissing me off with their obsessively risk (ie: medical malpractice) adverse policies. They are pushing me to come in for twice a week apts ALREADY starting next week at 34 weeks. There is no actual medical need for this so I'm pushing back - I'll start coming in twice a week at 36 weeks. It's just too much of a time commitment (it would be a NST at one apt then ultrasound at the other apt, but if the NST doesn't go well I'll have to wait for an ultrasound. I could be there anywhere from 1 - 3 hours EVERY single time). It's absurd when I have had ZERO complications this entire pregnancy.
3. Questions for the group?
If you are AMA, what are your OB expectations starting week 34 for apts/NST's, etc?
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go?
We are spiritual people but not religious so no celebrations this weekend other than our vacation.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I have a growth scan this week with MFM to follow up with an issue they saw during the AS. Should be no big deal but will be fun to see DD again.
I am AMA but no mention of induction so far! DS came on his own at 41w so hoping for similar with this one.
3. Questions for the group? Not really
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? Yep! I always hide eggs for DS and this year we went to the ski resort to search for eggs in the snow. That was kind of a bust but DH and DS had fun skiing anyway. Then dinner at my mom's with even more eggs.
woowoo I am AMA (barely). I am following a regular OB schedule of EOW until 36, and then weekly. No NSTs unless my blood pressure goes up. So far the AMA status has gotten me genetic bloodwork and a higher level anatomy scan.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I have a pupps rash on my stomach =(
3. Questions for the group? Assuming its not a financial strain, at what point postpartum would you start reducing the amount of help you have with a baby & other children?
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? We do "East-over" with friends of my mom & stepmom that have become family. Half the group celebrates Easter and half celebrates Passover so we do a combined meal on Saturday. So much fun!
If you are AMA, what are your OB expectations starting week 34 for apts/NST's, etc?
Right now I'm scheduled for regular OB visits at 32 (done), 34 (Thurs), 36, 37, 38, and 39 weeks, with no more u/s's and no NSTs currently planned through 39. My last u/s was at 32, and this pregnancy I may not have an NST at all. (I had a couple in my last pregnancy between 36 and 40w due to gestational diabetes, plus an extra 36w u/s.) If they planned to do any as a routine "AMA" thing, they would've booked them when I made those later OB appt's because the NST and OB visit would be separate appt's maybe 30 mins or so apart, just like they do with the in-house u/s app't times. Apparently my Ob/gyn practice is totally swamped with pregnant patients right now so they're scheduling as far out as practical. None of us currently plan for me to be pregnant until 40w, but if I was, only then would I move to biweekly appointments.
You sound about your practice like I felt about my last pregnancy. Everything just felt so over-medicalized, overly conservative, overly worry-inducing, etc. I'm sorry, it sucks, and it makes it harder to relax.

1. How far along are you this week? 12+5
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? We got our NIPT results back this morning and baby looks perfectly healthy, no risks for Downs and low risk for any other genetic issues. We also found out we are team BLUE!!
3. Questions for the group? Not today
4. Did you celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend? How did it go? I cooked and had my family and ILs over. It went well, other than my BILs fiancé and her kid showing up when we were told they weren’t coming. So literally as we were sitting down to eat (because they showed up late), I had to get out 2 more chairs and place settings. DH stood at the kitchen island with me (I was sitting) to eat because we didn’t set up an extra table because we didn’t know they were coming and I was ok with everyone sitting at the table and me sitting at the island (it’s an eat in kitchen). I’m glad they came, but a heads up would have been nice.
3. Questions for the group? For those that are AMA, has anyone's doctor NOT mentioned inducing at 39 weeks? I feel like everyone here has the same story but my practice hasn't mentioned it. I know I’m way early to answer this, but my MFM doc told me since I’m AMA with some other risk factors, they won’t let me go past my due date. I’d imagine they will discuss inducing early when we are closer to then.

Yes. This is exactly it.....it's excessive. The OB at my last apt said it's a combination of the practice itself and the state of Florida....he admitted they are very risk adverse because we are in a state with shitty rates on many things (maternal and fetal death rates, c-section rates, medical malpractice suits, very high rates of medical malpractice insurance, etc). He told me point blank that I am allowed to make decisions that are best for me.
woowoo regular appointments until 36 weeks, then weekly. But the practice I am at does that for every patient, not just AMA. I would push back on twice a week as well!
