icedcoffee dont stress too much about the growth chart. Both kids went from 90% at birth, 70% at 4m and and 50% at 6m. No concern at all with C who was combo fed exclusively from a bottle, and only mild concern about D (EBF), until we realized he is following his brother's curve.
How old were your babies when you transitioned them to their own room/crib? DS is 2 months old today, I go back to work in a month and I’ve been thinking about having him in his room by then. But then I worry it’s too soon. How do you know when they’re ready??
When they needed sleep training. 6 months for E1, 7 months for E2. And I've been sleeping in E2's room the past 2 months. I'm just too lazy to go to a different room. I realized the past couple weeks that I've been waking him up, so I'm back in my own room with like 3 different baby monitors (my hearing has deteriorated since E1 was a baby). He's STTN every night since Friday.
I jinxed myself. He woke up at 4:30. Still technically STTN since it was an 8 hour stretch, but I didn't want to get up.

Yeah I’m not too worried TBH. DS1 was always falling off the chart. I just can’t sleep train if he’s on the downslope. DS1 was tiny but slowly increasing when I sleep trained.
Anyway—just got a call to pick up DS2 for a fever so maybe that’s why he slept crappy last night. He got vaccines last night and has a mild cold. Poor guy. Hopefully I can get him to sleep it off.
I need to re-sleep train DD. She was up 5x last night. FIVE. I'm dying today. I should have let her CIO but she was screaming so loudly I thought something was wrong, and DS has been sleeping like shit lately too and I was trying to stop her from waking him too. Ugh.
D must have talked to Z, because that's totally her MO. Though she only got up twice last night, which is unheard of for her. Girlfriend is sleep training this weekend for sure-putting her on her belly to sleep and back patting/shushing when she starts to stir and fuss has been somewhat helpful to get her used to me not picking her up every.damn.time she fusses overnight, but we need to get the number of wakeups down. I put her down awake last night (have been putting her down asleep) and she fell asleep after ~10 min of yelling at me so maybe there's hope for the rest of the week? Either way, this weekend starts Operation Sleep Train.

Blah. DS2 was sent home from daycare with a fever. 101.4 when I took it rectally and he was really unhappy. Gave him a dose of Tylenol and he took a 4 hour nap. Woke up totally fine. Happy as a clam. Except now he’s automatically excluded from daycare tomorrow. He got vaccines yesterday so I’m sure it’s all related. I’m glad he’s better, but man!

We are in the middle of an antibiotic for an ear infection and his temp is high and now we have to wait and see what he has. My thermometers are giving me different reads by 1 full degree. It’s so weird. When we went to the dr their thermometer said no fever. I’m so over winter.

Good luck! Our initial round went pretty well and she now goes down without a fuss every night (yay!), it's the overnight wake ups that have been a challenge. I'm hesitant to let her CIO because her and DS' walls are paper thin and it wakes him, but something's gotta give. Sometimes shes up 1x, sometimes 4x, she's so inconsistent! Probably because we are too, ack. I guess DS is gonna have to deal for a spell.

YES! the MOTN wakeups are what's getting me because like you said, sometimes it's only 1x, sometimes it's so many I lose count. I think CIO overnight will ultimately help, it's just going to suck for a while. Thankfully AJ is a pretty sound sleeper so I'm just going to tell him that if he wakes up and hears Z crying to go back to sleep. And that if he gets up to pee and can't find us we're downstairs in the family room (Z is still in our room and I have a feeling I may not be able to handle her pitching a fit while I'm 3 feet away)
I don't think I've ever been so congested in my life. I couldn't get anything out of the net I pot so I finally just gave up. It's 1 am and I've barely slept.
D's breathing sounds a little rattly but no snot yet. Praying the breastmilk gods keep it mild for him.
DD spiked a 103.7 fever last night, yikes. I gave her Tylenol at about 12:30am and now 7 hours later she is fever free. WTF? Did I hallucinate it? Do I need to call the doctor or just wait and see? I obviously kept her home.
Also, in my 3+ years of parenting I administered my first rectal thermometer reading. It was not the big deal I feared it was.

My DD fever hit over 105 Friday night so we took her to the ER. They couldn’t find anything wrong with her. It came out nowhere - I literally took her to see Santa Friday morning, thought she felt warm around 2 and her temp was over 103 and then she was fever free Saturday morning on. I would call the pediatrician because she’s so young and it was so high and ask if they want to see her but maybe it’s just the “random virus” they diagnosed DD with. I mean she was then seen at her pediatrician Monday morning and the doctor said she was the picture of health.

Thanks for sharing. I’m glad it was short lived and your DD bounced back quickly. 105 is scary!

Kid fevers are weird. DS legit only had a fever for a few hours on Tuesday. I'd wait and see. Keep an eye on her and call if it creeps back up. Fevers usually spike at night so tonight will be a good indicator.
Our nurse said they're not concerned about a fever until like 105 😮 she seemed way less concerned about any fever than I was the first time DD had one.
I think DD is finally working on her 2 front teeth, just in time for Christmas. We went from a week of pretty great sleep to almost none this week 😭 finally realized it might be teeth when I saw 2 little bumps this morning that I don't remember seeing before.

E2 did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Spiked up to 104.9 overnight. I gave motrin and crossed my fingers that the next temp (once the meds wore off) wasn't so high. My pedi told me to bring him to the ER for sustained unmedicated temps 104+ (so 2 in a row). That was the only one over 104, so I kept him home. He was fine the next day.
I think I read somewhere in one of my nursing texts that kids tend to spike higher fevers MOTN? But I could be misremembering that. I'll know more this time next year after my pedi rotation.
We've been battling the baby sickness too, although no fever. S was excluded on Monday, so also out Tues, for suspected conjunctivitis. He has had a cold and been teething for weeks. Poor baby has been so miserable. Pedi examined him and thought it was likely viral, so she said give it til the next morning, do warm compresses, and call back for a Rx if the discharge was purulent; if it was just crusty keep up the warm compresses and she'd write a note to go back on Wed. It has gotten much better on its own, but I was surprised. He's back in daycare, and only really seems crusty in the AM after a full 12+ hours in his crib, so I don't think he needs abx, but I still am really looking forward to him fully kicking it.
He also cut his first tooth this week! The gum is broken open and I can see the white line. I feel like maybe this does not belong in a newborn thread, lol. I hope the one next to it goes soon too, and that it gives him some relief.
Finally, he had a really strong PT session today, and his PT is talking about discharging him in January when his current insurance approval runs out. I'm so happy he's improving so much.
Sweet freaking Jesus I forgot my pump cooler bag and pump parts AGAIN. Thank god I had an extra set here and have access to baggies. This is easily becoming a 1x/week thing. Oy.

The baby is on day 8 of an antibiotic for an ear infection and he’s again pulling his ears. He spiked a fever of 103 on Tuesday overnight and in the 101s all day yesterday with Motrin. He is hovering right around 100.5 today, so I’m waiting for it to go up. Doesn’t really want to eat, even solids are a struggle at this point. He’s bitting everything and pulling to rub his gums, poor kiddo. I think several teeth are working themselves out. He’s so clingy and barely sleeps. I’m so tired. I feel like if I bring him in they’ll say to wait and see again. Just so frustrating.

I would call. By day 8 they should be doing better - they may want to change the antibiotic.

I would call at least. I've had to do that a couple times with E1 when he was on antibiotics for ear infections and he wasn't getting better. In each case, a different abx was called in without me having to bring him to the office again.

Is your pedi worried about it or are you? I would try not to let that stop you unless your pedi is worried. DD would have been like 3 before I sleep trained if I waited for her growth curve to level out, and she would've had some nightmarish ingrained sleeping habits by then. She steadily fell from 40th% around 4 months to a low point of <3rd % for weight around 1-2 years. She finally went up to 23rd% at 3, and 27th% at 4. DS appears to be on the same trajectory, he fell to 11th% at 6m. They're both in the 70s-80s for height, it's just their body type I guess. Pedi has been fine with both of them. I mix all kinds of fatty, protein-y things into purees for him like I did for her (nut butters, mashed up hard boiled egg yolk, full fat greek yogurt) but otherwise kind of KOKO.

I did, let’s see what they say. When we went in on Tuesday, that dr thought it was a new virus. He was fever free for 4 days in between starting the antibiotic and fever coming back.

I don't know. LOL I guess I'm not really too worried and either was my pedi.
I guess part of me was worried he's not getting enough calories in during the day and therefore he needed the night feed, but DH was home with him yesterday and tried to add an extra bottle and he refused so...that kind of indicates to me that he is getting plenty and if he were to get rid of the MOTN feed maybe we'd be able to add that extra mid day bottle.
Maybe we'll try to sleep train after all. I'm trying to decide what my plan is. He's been pretty consistently waking up once with the very rare night he'll wake twice. Maybe I'll start by shortening that one feed or just try to cut it completely. IDK...I think I'm too tired to sleep train. LOL Right now it's easier to just feed him and go back to sleep, but I don't want to be doing that in the long term.
Deciding to sleep train DS1 was easier because he cried so much it was no big deal to tune it out. Ha.
Regardless, we're travelling next week and I think we should probably wait until we return.
First night of not feeding D at his first wake up. He is PISSED! I gave him a quick check when he first woke and put him back in his crib. He has lost steam a couple of times, fingers crossed he goes down soon. I have no idea how C is still sleeping through this.

L is sick. Poor guy. So far he hasn’t had a fever when checking but he has a pretty bad cough (from the chest). At what point would you say go to a doctor? Or just ride it out at home? We’re travelling and in Canada so don’t have health insurance here or our regular doctor.
The end result was 30 minutes of crying. He fell back asleep for 50, at which point I fed him. He probably would have made it 3+ hours then but H got a work call so D woke up when I shut his door. Hopefully he will be slightly less angry tonight, and gets the point quickly of what this is all about.
