I know there's some debate about whether a wealth tax will truly be good for the economy, but I'd say it's about damn time we take few cents of every dollar from billionaires to fund things that will actually benefit regular people. I don't see how the way things are as described below are "good" for the economy either so fuck that noise.
Income inequality has surged in the United States in the last 50 years, with the top 0.1 percent now controlling about a fifth of the nation’s wealth. That concentration of wealth has coincided with stagnant wages, rising college costs and the lingering effects of the Great Recession, which erased trillions of dollars in household wealth, ravaging the middle class. New figures from the Census Bureau released last week show that income inequality in the United States reached its highest level last year since the government began tracking it in 1967.

LOL that y'all are shocked by HRC's statement. She's never thought that behavior wasn't ok.
I'm not shocked. I'm just....why did she have to say it out loud? I don't want to get to the point where I feel about her the way I do about Biden, which is "Sit down and be quiet before you ruin your reputation" but...sheesh.
Mark Zuckerberg said an Elizabeth Warren presidency would 'suck' for Facebook, leaked audio reveals amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/10/01/tech/mark-zuckerberg-leaked-audio-elizabeth-warren/index.html Facebook (FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently admitted to employees that the prospect of an Elizabeth Warren presidency could "suck" for the company, according to leaked audio published by The Verge... Warren also responded to the leaked remarks. "What would really 'suck' is if we don't fix a corrupt system that lets giant companies like Facebook engage in illegal anticompetitive practices, stomp on consumer privacy rights, and repeatedly fumble their responsibility to protect our democracy," Warren tweeted on Tuesday in response to Zuckerberg's comments.
Pete Buttigieg comments on Warren: “She and I are after the same goals,” he said of Warren. “But her pitch has a lot more to do with fighting — she’s more interested in the fighting part of it. I’m more interested in outcomes.” Source: www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-10-01/buttigieg-pitches-himself-to-moderates-as-biden-alternative I am not happy with this comment. Warren is incredibly outcomes-focused and it comes across as mansplainy.

Another quote from the article, this one from a voter: “She a little more aggressive and that’s off-putting — in anyone, not just because she’s a woman. He seems very relatable.”
My Like was in complete agreement boiler717. I am massively disappointed in Buttigieg; even though he’s given me inklings of sexism before, I’d always brushed it off. This BS is impossible to overlook, & I, therefore, no longer see him as a VP choice (for Kamala).

He has been mansplainy this whole time. He has cornered the white male “let’s all calm down and be reasonable” lane.

I’m normally a lover not a fighter but god damn, look what the GOP is doing to our country. I want a President that can make McConnell cry and right now I only see 2 options and they’re both female.

Tweet from Meg Kinnard, AP: @berniesanders cancels campaign events “until further notice” after undergoing procedure to clear artery blockage.
With a picture of a statement from Jeff Weaver that says (paraphrased) Sanders had chest pain, they found a blockage and two stents were put in. He's resting and in good spirits.
I just came here to post this. I wish him the best. I wonder if he will bow out at this point.
Not a chance in hell.
It seems quite serious though. My dad had a heart attack almost 2 years ago and needed a stent. He was flown by helicopter to the nearest cardiac center, about 60 miles from his house. Now, my dad was being dumb, as he often is about illness, and just decided to go home and rest when he wasn't feeling well. When he walked in the house and collapsed he also called his GF instead of 911... Thankfully he was okay. It was super scary, and it seems like something similar happened to Bernie. My dad was off of work for about 5 weeks - he's a risk manager who works 1 day per week from his home office and spends the other 4 days visiting his clients, all within about a 200 mile radius of his house. So not totally sedentary, but not, like, presidential campaign level either. ANYWAY it concerns me for Bernie.

Plus, Warren actually doesn't fight. She hasn't exactly NOT mentioned Trump, but the positioning of her campaign is what she can do - and yes, it's the complete opposite of some of Trump's policies, but it's also a very positive campaign. She hasnt' gone after Biden or Bernie either.

I hope it doesn't slow him down, but he is 78. It's like when people tried to make a lot over Hillary's collapse from pneumonia on the trail and so forth in 2016. Look, Biden has some sort of dementia, and Trump has late stage syphilis brain or whatever. The physical stuff doesn't really concern me as much.

I was just going to post this separately. I hope he recovers, but I will say that I also hope he campaigns for someone else and steps down to focus on healing and helping elect someone else. (Can I be honest about that yet, or is it too soon?)

Oh. So you're actually really NOT cool, Pete. Thanks for showing your ass.

Fine by me. I don't wish him ill or anything, but I would be perfectly happy if this pushes him out of the race. He has no business in it (nor do any of the rest of the men for that matter, except Castro, he's still good with me).
