seeyalater52 , thanks for you explanation. This is so hard for those with issues. I'm hoping they can come up with something that works for all.
I'm VERY confident they can. They will have to anyways, as we are 5+ years off from having consensus among Democrats on one pathway to fix this issue. The House has been putting off floor votes on these bills because they don't have the votes to pass... and Dems have a sizable majority. Even if our majority increases in the next election (I predict a decrease with Dems still in leadership) they won't have the votes for this there, and certainly not in the Senate.
What I really want is to stop the purity politics of insisting that there is One True Way to fix health care (or any issue) and lambasting anyone who has a different opinion as moderate or bad in some way. There are a lot of different ways to be progressive, and cutting down people who agree with your goals because you disagree with how they want to accomplish them or who raise valid critiques causes unnecessary infighting and ultimately pushes us further from the goal.
Trump claimed he was being lynched on Twitter about two hours ago, and from what I can tell, only Castro, Harris, and Booker have bothered to call him out.
Elizabeth Warren, however, found time to tweet about public education in the last hour, so I continue to struggle with whether she's really the best person to lead a post-Trump country. Who are her people? This really shouldn't be that hard.

Not to excuse her or her campaign on this particular tweet which deserves a response, but Warren has gotten SO much shit about being reactionary to Trump and taking the bait that they’ve really stepped away from doing that as a core strategy. So bad judgement in this case but I see where it is coming from.

She just tweeted out her condemnation 2 minutes ago, so at least she's not letting it slide.
I hate to be nitpicking timing of tweets, because while this is important issue, it's the kind of thing that can lead to a slippery slope of petty grievances. But it is disappointing for the party as a whole when the three major candidates of color are ON IT, but it takes the various white candidates, including the front runners, noticeably longer.

M4A feels more like a pipedream than a reality, and the specifics worry me.
1) How do you force doctors to accept Medicare? Hospitals are generally required to take state plans, but doctors? Certain specialists? Not necessarily. 2) What is to stop practices from setting up concierge care or other private plans? 3) Do I really want the government deciding what is and is not covered each year, or each leadership change? 4) My husband's health care costs are HUGE. And my private insurance has covered them. Not without some serious bullshit hassle at times, but they've covered them. So what are my options when the government doesn't want to cover certain forms of my husband's care, self pay? Private plan? 5) Medicare reimbursement rates are not great now, and won't get better under this model. How do you keep rural hospitals open, or hospitals in lower income neighborhoods open, with this model? 6) Nobody seems to know yet how much this really will cost. 7) What is their plan for the workforce in that industry? It is easy to shake my fist at "the damned insurance industry" but most people who work for insurance companies aren't the moustache-twisting CEOs of the world, they're regular office shlubs like the rest of us. Annnnnd, now their line of work will be what, illegal?
I am not saying I have any answers here, but I have these questions, and I haven't seen any good answers yet. I think I like the idea of "you always have the ability to be in M4A, but you can have a private plan too"

I'd like to hug you. It is frustrating to continually hear that anything other than the gospel according to warren/sanders/whoeverthehell is the way! the truth! and the light! And anything other than full throated support of such means you are literally what is wrong with this country. Really good points and ideas get missed this way.
I am going to see Kamala tonight. I am the type of person who wants to go to things and not be noticed so we shall see how this goes lol. Hopefully there is a big crowd so I can blend in.
I have gotten 5 texts, 4 phone calls and 3 emails asking me to confirm I am attending tonight. So I am unreasonably nervous that there are going to be a ton of staffers as I walk in being all up in my grill when I want to just listen lol.
I am very excited to see her speak. Despite being in Iowa this is the first candidate event I have ever attended.

I went to see her and nobody said a word to me. I asked a staffer where to go, they showed me where the line was. Once I got to the front, they scanned my confirmation and put a colored dot on my hand, I walked into the event space (in this case a school gym) and just stood there. There were a couple of speakers before she came out. You'll be fine. Have fun! She's fantastic in person!
eta: I spent my waiting time talking to my friend and scoping out the exits in case someone decided to start shooting because, you know, 'Merica.
Kamala was fantastic! She is very engaging. I didn’t hear anything I didn’t already know about her, but it was fun to see her in person.
The attendance was bigger than I expected.
But because I am in Iowa and caucusing is very important, I did confirm the events are bit too intense for my liking. There were a ton of very sweet, eager staffers trying to get me to commit to this and that. YOu can’t really just walk in and out of the event without having to explain yourself to a couple levels of people. And I have had to turn down a couple facebook requests from people I assume are associated with the campaign. Plus another round of phone calls, text and emails today.
Again for this introvert it is all a bit much! I respect everyone’s passion and working for this very important cause. It just confirms I won’t attend many more of these events because the attention is a bit much. I don’t like being pursued lol.
