I know it’s been asked a lot but the search function is terrible. I’m looking for recs for a tote bag that meets most of these wants: - fits a 15 inch laptop and a few files - at least an 11 inch drop on the handle(s) - comfortably holds a water bottle, small wallet, small makeup bag, phone. - fairly lightweight - luggage sleeve - cute
I’ve had mine for almost 3 years and it’s holding up great. I air travel almost every single week for business and this bag is a total workhorse. Looks cute too.
I have a Lo and Sons Brookline, which ticks all your boxes but the handle drop. However, it does have a crossbody strap that is adjustable and could be a shoulder strap.
But just to attest to the quality of the brand, this bag has held up so well in the 2.5 years I’ve had it. It’s sturdy and looks nice, easy to clean, etc.
I use the OG for travel and the Seville as a daily work bag. You have to swap shells with the Seville to get the luggage sleeve - it’s a back zipper on the OG
I can fit more stuff in the OG- but it is bulkier than the Seville for daily office use.

I will probably get an OG or OMG next, TBH.
I have the Brookline too and it has held up well. I think I’ve had it 2 years and it still looks new. I love all the pockets and organization. The only thing I don’t like is that it is not very sturdy, so it flops over when I set it down instead of standing up. I only use it to and from the office, so it isn’t very full, so maybe that’s why, but it drives me nuts.

The OG and OMG won't fit a 15 inch laptop. My OMG (now called the OG 2 because of a redesign, but they still have the medium and large optíons) barely fits my 13 inch laptop.
I’ve heard the Dagne Dover tote will hold a laptop this large. It looks nice too. I have several Lo & Sons bags (I’m a sheep apparently) but I don’t recommend them. They seem awfully bulky for the amount of stuff that they hold. Their patented interior organizer system really just takes up too much space, and for such a large bag, they just don’t hold that much. I’m in the process of selling two of them.
If you have any interest in a backpack, the Dagne Dover large backpack holds my 17" laptop (barely). Out of my office of 45 people, 7 of us have this bag because it's so awesome.

I just got a work bag that I love!
I didn't want leather and I am obsessed with having tons of pockets in a bag. The one I got might be too small for what you want but I would recommend the company Lug.

I would think the large Madewell tote would hold a 15 inch laptop. I have a medium and it holds my 13 inch laptop. When I need a separate backpack to hold more than just the laptop, I really love my lululemon backpack. There’s a separate section with light padding for the laptop, plus it holds a ton of other stuff. The lining is orange on the one I have so it’s super easy to see inside, and I like how it’s organized.
Another vote for the Lo & Sons Brookline, although it wasn't my first choice, and it does have weird alignment like someone else said. But this was the third bag I tried and had to work, lol. The bag I really loved was from ABLE, and even though it said it fit a 15" laptop, it didn't, so I had to send it back. then I tried this one from Cuyana www.cuyana.com/tall-structured-leather-zipper-tote.html#black - but it fit the laptop vertically and it made it too tall, for me. So, I caved and went with Lo & Sons but I am very happy with it!
I have a L&S Brookline, but I'm not currently using it. I bought it because, at the time, it was the best of what's around for carrying my 15" MacBook Pro. In practice I did not like the way it fell over on the floor like noodleoo said. It also did not work well for me when traveling on business because it was too narrow to easily carry the sort of practical stuff that I want to stick in a bag on the go, especially with pouches of necessary things like my power cord taking up space. Water bottle, small purse to consolidate bags while boarding a plane, layers that I'm carrying/shedding while traveling, etc.
I'm using a Tumi Voyageur backpack now, and I like it a lot better. It isn't perfect -- it would need a drink pocket to be perfect, and the side pockets that it has are kind of useless -- but the main space is much more usable than the Brookline. It's deeper and accommodates a better variety of stuff. It still fits my 15" MacBook.
This bag is a bit narrower (for better or worse) and the shoulder strap is only 10” but I’m recommending it anyway because Knomo is my favorite work travel brand:

I have a Dagne Dover Allyn and really love it. My office is “flexible” so everything has to be brought in and out everyday. It doesn’t have a luggage sleeve, but some of their other bags do.

This bag looks AWESOME. It has so many pockets but the outside is simple and classic. I want one.
It's an awesome bag. I use it for travel and every day. I sometimes get things lost in there because I haven't checked all of the pockets It's amazing for travel and if you're one to go on 1 night business trips, I can usually fit 1 day's worth of clothes in there (assuming I wear the same pants and shoes the following day).
Piggybacking on this thread, does anyone have the L&S Rowledge backpack? Any pros/cons on it if so?
I have it and love it. It's a great everyday work bag for me, and also great for travel. I think it's less roomy than the OG, but it fits everything I need on a daily basis and more.
I have the OG and Seville and while both are good, they are just not quite big enough to hold a few files with the laptop + chargers + headphones. I also made the mistake of not getting the OG in black and got the slate blue/denim and while pretty it’s too casual. But what’s kept me from re-ordering in black is the space issue. The Seville is even narrower - I rarely can zip it which I prefer to do through tsa security. Also, only the nylon cover has the luggage sleeve so I rarely ever use the leather one.
