For pretty much my entire life in this area, I have had random encounters with men on horses in the most unlikely spots. It’s really cool to see and they’ve always been so gracious letting people meet the horses.
There is a movie based on them on Netflix now!! It stars Idris Elba. We watched half last night and will finish tonight.
One of Lucy’s lesson horses is in the movie, since she came from Fletcher Street stables. And the woman with short hair and a teal tank in the trailer is her friend from riding as well. Every time we see it she goes, “I can’t believe she taught me how to post!”
Today starts my no-excuses diet. I already exercised this morning and have stuck with my meal plan. I cut out alcohol two weeks ago to give myself a head start. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I am dissapointed in letting myself go during the last 12-18 months.
I heard the Peloton app has excellent workouts (without the bike - I don't have one). Can anyone chime in on this? It's $13/mo.
I use the Pelaton app with no bike. I do have a treadmill though. I think it’s a great app! Do you like to run?
I am not a runner. LOL! Funny enough, I do have a treadmill, though.

I love love love using the app for my workouts. I don't have the bike or tread, I don't even have weights. I do HIIT, bodyweight strength, and core workouts. There's also Pilates and Barre and audio-only outdoor run or walk workouts. I think it is most definitely worth the $13/month. I love that there's everything from a 5 minute core to 20-30 minute strength and HIIT so I can put together what I've got time and energy for each day. I've had it for a year now, I originally signed up when they extended their free trial to 90 days when quarantine first happened.
kittenponypony , What is the final update on your (ex) friend situation? I'm sorry if I missed it in the other threads.
I dropped the car off at her house last week. She and her husband were in meetings so we didn’t see each other directly. I forwarded them the $1500 repair quote and breakdown from Jimmy and added a note that if they changed their mind about accepting money that they could reach out to me, it’s a standing offer. Crickets. Our friendship is definitely over, unless something radically changes. I decided not to get into all my grievances about how she’s treated me; I think I’m only open to doing that if she demonstrates a willingness/commitment to behavioral change and being a better person to me, which I don’t see happening anytime soon, or ever really :/
I followed the board’s advice and “dropped the rope”
This is a great end to this saga. I'm really sorry about losing your friendship, but it sounds like you're better off without these people in your life.

I'm sorry, what? Who is "them"? Like, this is an organized group of random men on horses?
There are a couple riding clubs in Philly. The idris Elba movie is about the Fletcher Street Riding Club

That is so awesome!! What a special connection. I’ve been reading so much about the backstory since I saw the trailer. I knew about the riding clubs bc I’ve seen the riders since my childhood growing up by Cobb’s Creek but I wasn’t aware of the rich backstory or what they’re facing now.

I’d seen the guys riding near the zoo often enough and never thought much about it. Like, we live in a city. But my future CEO decided she wanted to ride, googled “horse riding Philadelphia” and found herself a place. I’m proud of her even if she loves to pick up expensive activities without a job

the app is fabulous. I have a peloton but use the app whenever I travel or do outdoor workouts. I was away the last 5 days and used the app for treadmill workouts and weights at my in laws house. Well worth it!
I need some new tees and tanks but everything is so boxy. Ugh.
They are still long and shapeless though. Really I just miss when fit and flare and wrap dresses were in style. Those worked for me!
I should add I'm 5'1 so that also complicates things!! Yes everything is very boxy these days. isabel recommended the Amazon Essentials for tee shirts awhile ago and those have become my go to.
Love those shirts. I am 5’ and they are the right length and fitted without being clingy. I haaaate boxy shirts.

Yep, it’s good. And if you have a chase sapphire or reserve card, they have a deal right now where they are giving a credit for the full amount each month for anywhere between 6 and 12 months (depending on the card).
Doing the 17 hour drive home- I’m already so sick of the car but we won’t be home until after midnight (and then have to get up early for the kids Covid tests in the morning). Was good to spend Easter with all the cousins though. It’s the 1 year anniversary of my BIL’s accident so I’m glad we could be there to help SIL and my niece/nephew a bit. I ate SO MANY SWEETS though omg. I’ve been doing no sugar no dairy since January 1st and went insane on charcuterie boards and Easter candy this week. My body is not happy with me
I'm on the hunt for some cute spring/summer dresses.
All I would like is something not midi length and not a swing dress. I need something with a bit of definition in the waist or else I look like I am 7 months pregnant. Why is this so hard to find?
Hmph.
Agreed! I was just looking at the Banana Republic site and that's all they have. It seems impossible to find work dresses anymore and the midi length looks so frumpy on me unless it's more of a cocktail type dresss.
Yesterday was the first holiday we've had in a year that isn't just me, H and DD! It was so great to have my mom over, and then my sister's family for dessert. I might have gone overboard with egg hiding for DD and our next door neighbor lol, on Sat. night I stuffed prizes into 75 eggs and was outside with a flashlight placing them. I think they found them all in about 8 minutes! They had a blast, even though it was 27 degrees when we got outside - super early of course because they were so excited to get out there.

have you looked at Boden? They have a lot of tie waist and wrap dresses
@sameoldstory, I don't know where you live but I can say that left over Easter stuff is extremely sparse in our area. I am not sure what happened this year but Easter was sold out a day before the holiday. I think lots of people celebrated or something. I went to Target Saturday night and I could not even find a bunny or a reese's egg. Everyone on FB had similar issues. lol
Our local supermarket didn’t even have any Cadbury anything left 3 weeks ago! It was weird. It was just store brand jelly beans and a couple Reese’s products left.
All of my Easter food came out perfectly! We had a nice low key weekend! The sun is shining! If the neighbor’s deck work will ever end I can move forward in my spring plans of napping in my hammock.
The work for my mom’s estate is nearly done too. I’m waiting for the IRS to cash the check I sent for taxes related to it. It’s been about 2 1/2 weeks and I’m not sure if that is normal or not. I can’t wait for all that to be over!

I had such a nice weekend!
On Saturday I worked and it was such a smooth day.
Then, on Sunday I decided I wasn't going to do any work or work on my taxes and just enjoy myself. So I worked out at home, then I read in bed for a little bit. Afterwards I went to the farmers market and dropped off compost, bought some veggies, then sat and ate lunch at a meditarrean place, then walked around and bought some running shoes and finally got some ice cream. I also took the bus instead of the subway because although it's slower I was like it'll be nice to just drive along the streets and see people out instead of being underground, ha.

This has been happening with Christmas for a couple of years now. It's like you have to start shopping months before the actual holiday just so stores don't have extra inventory to clear afterward? IDK but it's irritating to have Easter stuff when I'm looking for Christmas lights and now it's time for summer but I won't be able to find a swimsuit in July.

Wait, how come I didn't know about this? Thanks for mentioning! I am going to look into it. I've been intrigued about the app, though given my lack of consistency in doing anything, I thought it might not be worth it for me to sign up. But if it's free, maybe I can give it a try!

We watched it yesterday and liked it! I didn't realize until the end (not a spoiler!) that some of the actors are actual riders in real life, which was cool. And now reading ProfessorArtNerd's comment about them using at least one of the real horses I like it even more.

I found this too. I was able to get some things at Walgreens on Thursday night, but my grocery orders at 2 different stores in the week previous were completely sold out of the good stuff. They may have had generic goodies but I am very specific about my Cadbury chocolates and Starburst jelly beans.

It appears to be automatic as long as you sign up through the peloton site using your Chase card as the method of payment. I went and looked when I got my first credit because I was confused.
I might need to mortgage my house for a wedding I'm in this summer.
$320 for the dress, $180 for hair and makeup and now they want $250 towards throwing a shower. Plus we'll need 2 nights in a hotel and my dress needs major alterations.
So the wedding dress that looks amazing on me is ruching... which seems very 2010s? Is it too out of date? I can make any changes I want as its custom made (and cheaper than the not custom made!) I just can't find any dresses with ruching that are from 2020s.
I was considering a belt with a bow on the back side with is long enough to make up part if the train.

Easter drained me emotionally - explaining to your 11 yo (who doesn't believe in the Easter Bunny anymore) that you are not entitled to have someone get you an Easter basket (especially when you barely acknowledged the one they got you the year before) every year. i do it bc i love you, i'm your mom. other people might not feel the same and that's ok.

are tweens just moody a-holes
Liking is compassion only. My tween knows but she at least pretends to still really enjoy it.

My shoulder has been killing me the last few days. This really sucks. It is approaching 5 months of being in pain. Sometimes I feel like PT is working and othertimes I feel like it is not. It is certainly bothering me more the last few days than it has in a long time.
I think I have mentioned before about my great nephew who is not even 3 yrs old and weighs 60 pounds. My niece took him to the zoo today and they did not believe his age and denied her the child price. I shouldn't laugh but I am.
