Last night my dog woke me up running around the room in the middle of the night with his little stomach audibly growling. I thought he needed to go to the bathroom so I took him outside but nope. Then when I came inside I saw his bowl full of food from yesterday’s dinner and I felt so dumb — he’s been doing this thing where he won’t eat right away and I had tried to feed him right before we all went over to a friends house to grill and he hadn’t eaten any before we left and I forgot about it when we got home, so he was hungry.
Of course he refused to eat it by himself so that’s how I ended up sitting on the kitchen floor at 1:30am feeding him dog food with a spoon like what is my life 🙄 and then I couldn’t sleep until 4:30am and randomly read some posts on here from years past as I ran out of all the newer stuff. Today is going to be a sleepy day. At least it’s supposed to get up to the 70s

Our town's summer guide came out, so I am making a list of activities the kids can each choose from for the summer. Maybe 1 to 2 things per kids. Summer Break starts May 27th, we will be gone to our family vacation home most of July, and then school starts back Aug 6th. There won't be tons of time for kids to do much and I want them to have some downtime do whatever they want at home days too.
Easter was good. I'm a bit WTF about their gift from a SIL/BIL. My kids do not need a gift, but as DH is the youngest in his family this tradition was set before I joined the family. We give each niece/nephew a gift $20 to$25. We did this till all the others were 18 yrs old. Now it is just my 3 left and a great niece (this SIL/BIL's grandaughter). We got her sidewalk chalk, a book, and waterguns. They gave my kids baskets with candy, fine, and then one kid got foot odor spray, my 12 yr old got a bib, and the other a toilet plunger. We dropped off our gift for great niece and my kids stuff was on the porch, so no in person exchange. My SIL sent a text saying don't blame her for the gifts, it was all BIL. I think next year a couple weeks before I will just suggest we end this. I never got the older nieces/nephews gag gifts/junk. I went with the standard set before me. They got bookstore gift cards, Starbucks gc, flavored popcorn etc. My one kid thought the plunger was funny. The other two were just like oh, ok.
Easter was lovely. We went to my in laws and then left the kids overnight since school is closed today. We will pick them up later today. So quiet and nice. We went out to dinner at an outdoor restaurant at 5pm to avoid crowds and then I got in bed at 7. So nice.
It’s going to be beautiful here today. Work should be quietish I think.
I ordered a bunch of veggie plants from a sale through the humane society where we got our cat. I am kind of second guessing if this was a good idea, lol. I think I ordered a total of 18 plants, plus a few herbs which I plan to put in a pot on our deck. We have a small yard that is totally bare so I really could make the whole thing a garden, but we get a lot of shade so I'm not sure the whole yard is appropriate for one. I was thinking of doing raised beds but I didn't realize how expensive dirt is (why?) so I'm not sure I want to spend the money to get the actual beds themselves plus all the dirt to fill them in. I guess I could just stick the plants in the ground and see what happens. I spent a total of $55 so even if everything dies it's not a huge loss. But that WILL be disappointing if that happens! I don't know what I was thinking ordering so many plants. I should have ordered, like, 5 to see what happens, not 18!
I am feeling pretty yucky today, which I am sure is because I had way too much sugar yesterday, plus we had frozen pizza for lunch so it was a lot of junk. I wanted to get up and work out today, but as of right now I feel like that would make me feel worse since my stomach is the main issue. I am hoping things settle by this afternoon and I can work out then.
This week we jump back into kid activities after having nothing for over a year as my kids don't play winter sports.
DS2 resumed swim lessons this weekend. Both boys start baseball tonight. And DS1 starts track next week.
It feels a little exciting to be doing SOMETHING. Thankfully we have all been back in the work/school in person routine for awhile so I think we have shook a lot of cobwebs off. But of course I am a little nervous. I hope everyone stays safe and responsible.
We saw ILs in person for the first time since last summer yesterday. It was wonderful and relaxing. I bought all the brunch items so we could just casually sit around.
March was a terrible month at work. I had two days off the entire month plus I was covering for a coworkers leave so I was working 12 hour days. The 4 day weekend was the most needed time off I have ever had. The only problem is I am very much our dog’s human and apparently he missed me. He has been super glued to me all weekend, following me everywhere, climbing in my lap the second I list down etc. on Friday I thought it was sweet but considering he is 75lbs now I’m starting to hurt from having him on top of me and it’s getting if annoying.
I really wish I would have taken a long weekend. I think this week is going to drag.
We had such nice Easter, it was my ideal Sunday. Went to my parents house for brunch, drank lots of Prosecco, got home around 2:30 and took a quick nap. Woke up feeling great and sat outside with H in the sun and finished my book. We ordered a pizza for dinner and watched the new Wipeout with DS.
I'm on the hunt for some cute spring/summer dresses.
All I would like is something not midi length and not a swing dress. I need something with a bit of definition in the waist or else I look like I am 7 months pregnant. Why is this so hard to find?

I also had dogs thrown off by us going out for Easter (which was lovely here too). Mine usually eat 'dinner' around 5, but we were gone from 3-8. I fed them when we got home, and my finicky eater wouldn't eat any of her dinner even after I put cheese in it because it wasn't normal dinner time. Then she wouldn't eat her bedtime 'treat' that they get after they go out the last time before bed, so my piggie dog at hers too. And then piggie dog woke me up at 4:45 needing to go out. Dh got up for work at 5:30, so I didn't fall back asleep until after he left, and then finicky dog woke me up whining at 7 because she was hungry.
I played around with some Russian icing tips I got at Christmas last night and bakers, I highly recommend them. They are cheap, easy to use and super impressive with little effort.

Hmph.
Eshakti is my go to. You can customize them to any length. I only wear dresses and must have 20 from there
My boys are finally back in school FT. I hope everyone stays safe and we stay open.
pdq I'm also so proud of my 14yo. He is the one who recently overcame his Selective Mutism. He made a video for the national non-profit organizations website that is basically a 30 second video giving advice to other kids about being brave. He almost wasn't able to do it but when I said "don't worry, we will just say you can't right now." he said "hit record" and grabbed his paper to read from. He did so good and I wanted to cry because he did it but I held it in. haha.

I’m feeling pretty low. I think I’m just tired. With Easter over, I have nothing to look forward to until ...
My birthday is coming and it’s always an ignored disaster, my son will turn 2 and I’ll have to do everything for it, summer shit will annoy me and I’ll be too hot for all of it.
Ugh.
Anyway, my son has an appointment with his cleft team today to see how he’s doing. It has been almost a year since his surgery. Time flies. I can’t wait to hear about the 623 things we’re doing wrong and the 274 follow-up appointments we’ll need.

Target and Old Navy have great t-shirt dresses!
I need some new tees and tanks but everything is so boxy. Ugh.

They are still long and shapeless though. Really I just miss when fit and flare and wrap dresses were in style. Those worked for me!
I should add I'm 5'1 so that also complicates things!! Yes everything is very boxy these days. isabel recommended the Amazon Essentials for tee shirts awhile ago and those have become my go to.
Today is a day off for me. The weather is absolutely lovely again. I want to take a walk, go buy some new makeup brushes at Ulta, continue searching for a king bed we like, and read out on my patio. I am absolutely dreading returning to work tomorrow, but at least we are in the home stretch. My seniors are done May 7 and I am done May 20, so not too much longer!

Fit and flare are really all that work for me, too. It seems like most places I shop have a few options, but much fewer than the boxier options. I am also not impressed with the influx of ruffly peasant style dresses available. And in light colors with small prints. None of that is flattering on me.
IDK what size you are but I did just order a few things from Torrid. They haven't arrived yet but they are fit and flare so I am hoping they will work.
For pretty much my entire life in this area, I have had random encounters with men on horses in the most unlikely spots. It’s really cool to see and they’ve always been so gracious letting people meet the horses.
There is a movie based on them on Netflix now!! It stars Idris Elba. We watched half last night and will finish tonight.

I'm sorry, what? Who is "them"? Like, this is an organized group of random men on horses?

Well I have no idea if I’ve personally met the exact people in the movie but there are organized clubs of Black cowboys in Philadelphia and the movie is based upon one of the riding clubs. I went to college in North Philly so this specific club would ride near my school. time.com/5952050/concrete-cowboy-true-story-netflix/

This site is very cool! You can even customize the neckline, sleeves, etc- I've never seen anything like that before!
I decided to eat half of a left over sausage sandwich for breakfast this morning, and my very first bite I managed to aspirate a piece of the roll. I'm home alone and panicked that I was going to die alone. That wasn't fun.
My boss is off today and I'm very unmotivated even though I have a ton of work to do.
We didn't have any of our kids for Easter yesterday, so I'm going to go to the store today and hopefully grab some half-price candy and cards. Parenting win.
Today starts my no-excuses diet. I already exercised this morning and have stuck with my meal plan. I cut out alcohol two weeks ago to give myself a head start. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I am dissapointed in letting myself go during the last 12-18 months.
I heard the Peloton app has excellent workouts (without the bike - I don't have one). Can anyone chime in on this? It's $13/mo.

I use the Pelaton app with no bike. I do have a treadmill though. I think it’s a great app! Do you like to run?

I love love love using the app for my workouts. I don't have the bike or tread, I don't even have weights. I do HIIT, bodyweight strength, and core workouts. There's also Pilates and Barre and audio-only outdoor run or walk workouts. I think it is most definitely worth the $13/month. I love that there's everything from a 5 minute core to 20-30 minute strength and HIIT so I can put together what I've got time and energy for each day. I've had it for a year now, I originally signed up when they extended their free trial to 90 days when quarantine first happened.
kittenponypony , What is the final update on your (ex) friend situation? I'm sorry if I missed it in the other threads.
I dropped the car off at her house last week. She and her husband were in meetings so we didn’t see each other directly. I forwarded them the $1500 repair quote and breakdown from Jimmy and added a note that if they changed their mind about accepting money that they could reach out to me, it’s a standing offer. Crickets. Our friendship is definitely over, unless something radically changes. I decided not to get into all my grievances about how she’s treated me; I think I’m only open to doing that if she demonstrates a willingness/commitment to behavioral change and being a better person to me, which I don’t see happening anytime soon, or ever really :/
I followed the board’s advice and “dropped the rope”
@sameoldstory, I don't know where you live but I can say that left over Easter stuff is extremely sparse in our area. I am not sure what happened this year but Easter was sold out a day before the holiday. I think lots of people celebrated or something. I went to Target Saturday night and I could not even find a bunny or a reese's egg. Everyone on FB had similar issues. lol
