My name is Lynn. I'm OK with it because it's unusual enough that I rarely meet another Lyn/Lynn/Lynne but people are familiar with it and can pronounce it. I feel like it screams that I was born in the 70's, when everyone had Lynn as a middle name. I was named for my Aunt Linda and she's an awesome human so it's got that going for it.
I'm really loving the clues and hints people are leaving for their names without actually mentioning their names. It's adding a layer of fun.
I may need to get out more.
I’m having the opposite reaction, it’s making me feel rage!!! NO, I do not want to google celebrities relatives, or figure out some type of riddle.
It's a 1977 Elvis Costello hit, but spelled with a double letter instead of a single.

The subject of the Scapegoat Wax song Girl in Aisle 10
OR
A road featured in a Gin Blossoms song (which, btw, I just googled and the road that inspired the song is only a 5 hour drive from me. I might need to take a road trip one day)

To be fair, I am in the middle of a 6 hour zoom harrassment training so anything is a great distraction. Unless you are my instructor, then, I promise I am paying attention.

I have a common, classic name that will probably never go out of style. It dates back to biblical times and was pretty popular for the past few hundred years in Europe, although there are some minor variations of it in different languages.
ETA: Growing up I usually had one other girl with my name in my grade. When I went to college in the next state over, I suddenly knew like 10 other people with my name who lived in close proximity in our dorms. As an adult in an office of 100-300 there may be 1 or 2 others.
I’m Amy. It was the 2nd most common name the year I was born. It’s never bothered me, I like my name.
Another one checking in. I had 2-3 others in my grade growing up. All the same spelling and not a nickname. Most strangers try to spell the proper way (Aimee). I feel like I’ve met a lot of kids named Amelia with the nickname of Amy recently too.
I'm an Aimee. I tried to change it to Amy in 2nd grade because everyone always spelled it Amy anyway 😂
I’m actually an 80s baby! I’ve always been told Aimee is beloved in French and Amy is Americanized spelling. Maybe that’s not true? Every barista seems to only know Aimee ha.
kittenponypony, okay I can’t figure this one out! Give me a country hint?
rebneen yours is a common name in my (Jewish) community. Also my mom’s name but hers is pronounced Nine-ah.
I prefer our spelling. Aimee looks like someone had to sound it out.
Rude. Lol. It is very phonetic...and yet people will ask if it's Ah-may
Not as an adult! As a kid I feel like there were a lot of us but I don’t encounter many now.
Yeah. I never encountered that many as a kid or now. Which I like! My great uncle used to sing the song Laura to me, from the film of the same name. Have you ever seen it?

I haven’t but I remember having tell Laura I love her sang to me 😀

That song is so sad. lol But, was about a real person. I think it was a firend of Christopher Cross's friend.
No! It’s the name of Willis and Arnold Drummond’s older sister. So 70s/80s and yet still in the top 200! I’m baffled.
This clue is absolutely killing me me. This is not a clue I would ever think to give for that name but I guess it’s fitting if we’re talking 70/80s lol

Not anymore. It's either in the 900s or entirely off the list now. From the 40s-60s it was top 10. Susan. I've only ever met one person my age with that name, but many boomers with it.
I hate that because if you google search my name, yep that's me.
Yeah, common first name but unique maiden and married last names. If you Google, you’re only getting me at some point in my life. Feels kind of weird to be called out like that on the internets, lol

But we are talking about first names not maiden names and last names. If you google my full name, I will pop up. If you google Melanie, I won't.
I realize that some people have very unique first names, and maybe you are the only one in the world with that first name. But you can say that without being all vaguebook-y about it!

I edited out my name in my post earlier in the thread, but name twins! LOL. PDQ.
To continue to anger people, my name is very uncommon. If you googled just my first name and state it's all me. It is a fairly common name in a culture of one of the supposed lost tribes of Israel and means kerchief in a Slavic language...
Yes, it is now.: Emma. When I was a kid, no. It was an “old lady name.” And now I am an oldish lady, but it is a young people name.
My husband is an Oliver born in the 70s, so same. Whenever we’re in a public place and someone calls out his name they are always yelling at a 4 year old.
My name is uncommon, though not unheard of. It’s never been top 100, it peaked around 140 around the time I was born. There was a popular sitcom actress with the name when I was born, it was an uncommon male name decades ago, but now is really exclusively female. It’s the name of a main character in a Shonda Rimes show that I don’t watch. Anyway, in my high school of about 400 girls, there was one other person with my name in all 4 years I was there and we were in the same class year.
I didn’t like having an unusual name as a kid, but I like it now and it fits me. It’s not super feminine, but I often have people tell me they like it.
Of course, my parents both had VERY popular names for the years they were born in the 50s and my mom said she didn’t want that for me. Then they went and named my brother Matthew in 1985. 🤷♀️

You and my cousin have the same name, but she's an early 90s child. It was the same as one of my aunt's really good friends and also my aunt's parrot that died before cousin was born. Where they live people have to be relatively creative with names because about 75% share the same last name.
Mine is not very common now. It reached it's peak in 1967, but wouldn't be unfamiliar to anyone either, I don't think. I was born in the 80s- my dad heard the name growing up and it's one of his favorite names for a woman so he picked it. There are several of us in my current company (it is a huge company most people would know internationally), but at my prior company of about 4,000 employees I was the only one.
