Never acrylics. But I get pedicures as I live in slippers year round. I don't care if it chips, and all but my big toes have seriously tiny nails where you can barely see the color on even a fresh paint, so someone's probably appalled at me. Meh, don't care.
I have tiny toenails too. My pinky toenail isn’t much more than speck.
I will occasionally get manicures. There is a nice place a 5 minute walk from my house that I would go to pre-Covid. I usually just paint them myself though.

I did acrylics for about a year in like 2006, but didn't like the feeling or the upkeep. After that I'd get the occasional pedi and gel/shellac mani and that's about where I'm at now. I didn't get my nails done at all for 1.5 years due to Covid, but since getting vaccinated I've gone twice and it brought me great joy and I'm going again in a week or so.
Once every few years with a friend? I think nail salons are kind of gross. I know they sterilize their tools, but even the shared polish grosses me out. If I have to bring my own tools and polish to feel clean, I'm just going to do it at home.
I am a horrible nail picker and started doing the color street stickers to help me not mess with them. I do new stickers every week or so with a 3 day plain nail aid in between.
I get pedicures every other month or so, or at least did pre-pandemic.
In college I did acrylics and on grad school I did silk nails, but just haven’t been into the upkeep since. Occasionally I’ll get them done, but I’m a horrible horrible nail picker.
sandandsea, can you share the nail aid you use on your plain 3 days? I think something like this would probably help me.
I’m getting a pedicure right now! I’m pretty regular (other than during that pandemic) getting gel manicures every 2 ish weeks and pedicures every month or so. It was the first thing I did when I was fully vaccinated!
I’ve never done acrylics. I keep my nails very short and just like to keep them nice and neat in pale colors.
I hate having people touch my fingernails, and I don't even like pedicures, so no. I paint my own, but I've only ever had one manicure/pedicure, and that was enough for me to know it wasn't for me.
I know plenty of people who do, so you're not alone.
Pre-covid I used to get a dip manicure every 3 weeks or so. There's a nail salon next door to my office so it was a nice treat for myself and was easy to get to. During COVID I got hooked on Color Street strips and will use those instead of painting myself now when I do my nails at home. I went and got a dip manicure last week for the first time since covid and I forgot how much better it makes me feel. I'm a terrible nail picker and the dip makes me stop picking and keeps my hands looking nice.

I get a mani / pedi every 3 weeks. I feel more put together when they are done. I will get a gel mani done 1-2x per year for vacations. My nail polish never lasts the full 3 weeks and I will either do a clear top coat or paint them myself. I'm not very good at it so it's obvious when I paint them myself.
Nope! I’ve never had a manicure (not even for my wedding) and only one pedicure and I didn’t really like it. I hate people touching my feet. I suppose I could afford it now but I just don’t care at all.

When I had to do events for work, I regularly went for a mani and got into the dip nail thing for awhile. I don't usually paint my nails in the spring/summer but there is just something about the fall that makes me want them done all the time. My toenails grow slowly, so I can get away with a pedicure once every 2 months in sandal weather. I don't bother in the winter and if I have an event, I usually do it myself.
Not on my hands. Now that my fingers don't move like "normal," I just don't want to.
Occasionally, like once every 3 years, I will get a pedicure. I think I will get one the next time I go to the hair salon for this summer since we do have a vacation planned. It would probably help if I purchased some flip flops to wear as my casual shoes. All of mine broke.
I get my nails done frequently. i'd say I get a pedicure about every 3 weeks. I got my nails done last week (dip powder over tips.) I've actually learned that acrylic nails are not in and of themselves bad for your nails. It's the method in which they're removed. A lot of times at the salon, they're not given adequate time to soak off and the nail tech will sometimes pull or file them off (which will pull layers up from your nail plate.)
Girl, you do what ever makes you feel good. If getting your nails done is that thing, then do it!

Yes this is all true. Drills can be easily overused and file your nail bed. Also cheaper salons tends to take nails off frequently to check for infection, but if everything is being done correctly that isnt necessary and also helps your nails not thin out. I used to work for a super fancy nail salon and their big thing was they only hand filed lol, and also I cleaned everything constantly.
I don't get my nails done. I do get 2-3 pedicures every spring/summer. I'd love to do it more often since I'm a horrible toenail painter, but it's too expensive. I paint mine in between. I usually buy 2-3 fun new nail colors just before it gets warm enough to wear sandals.
Yup, every three weeks. I did acrylics years ago, then gels, and recently moved on to powder dip manicures. It’s the one “self care” thing I do consistently, and I love them.
