I went to the Salon yesterday for a much deserved pedicure and on a whim got a full set acrylic nails (yes, I know they are bad for my nails and no I don't really care LOL). I'm going away next week for my birthday and wanted to feel pretty. Anyway, I love them and might keep them. My natural nails grow more in to a square shape and I had them do these in like a pointed round, it's hard to describe. Anyway, I'm also kind of feeling like an imposter. It's been well over a decade since I've had my nails done like this. Please tell me I'm not alone!

Not really. Only before special occassions. I love the look, but I do not have time to get my nails done every week or 2 and gels really damage my nails. I wish I could pain them myself, but last time I tried a coworker asked me if a kid did it. So...LOL
So--I just get them before something really special.
Given the the vast number of nails salons in this country, no - you are absolutely not alone
I typically only get pedicures but that's because I hate taking nail polish off so I end up having 1/2 chipped nail polish on my fingernails which looks pretty bad. however, when do get manicures it's typically with a light color which doesn't show off as badly when I don't take it off.

I used to but now do my own nails (not acrylic or anything fancy like that) which I have gotten pretty good at. I like my nails short and manicured because if they go past my finger they start breaking. I have had acrylic but I don’t like the look of MY nails being long.
Another reason I don’t go is because any nail polish last, at most, 2 days on my nails. My family went to Disney a few years ago, I decided to a gel manicure thinking it would last most of the week we were gone. Nope. By mid week most of the gel nails had come off or were chipping.
I only get pedicures now as I have yet to get a manicure last more than an hour before it gets chipped. I did spring for a gel pedicure yesterday, as we leave for a beach vacation on Sunday. However, when this grows out I will likely go back to naked toes.

I've never had acrylics.
I used to get regular manicures and then gel manicures pretty regularly but the polish never stayed any longer than what I did them myself so I stopped to save the money. Now every Sunday afternoon, I give myself a manicure while listening to a podcast and I enjoy it.
I hate acrylics on my own hands, could care less about them on someone else. They just bother me and I like a shorter nail. I love a good mani pedi though, but rarely get them because I'm cheap.
I started doing dip nails on myself, which is basically acrylic. I love it. Seeing my hands looks pretty makes me feel put together. If I had the money to get it done I'd prob do that, but I have more time then money currently lol.
I personally only get pedicures because it never fails the moment I walk out of the salon I will chip, smudge, or ding at least one fingernail regardless of how long I wait for them to dry before leaving or if I get gel polish. I am just way too hard on my hands.
My boss who is in her late 40's still gets acrylics every two weeks.

I only do pedicures, but I do those every few weeks from early May into October. I have gotten manicures as well but they chip too quickly for me to bother. I do get a mani if I’m going to a big event. I’ve never done gel or acrylic, just regular.
I don't get acrylics but pre-pandemic (and pre baby #2, when my life was only mildly insane), I had gel manicures pretty regularly - every few weeks. It always makes me feel more put-together and I love setting aside some quiet time for myself.

Personally, I don't get my nails done because I'm too cheap to pay to have them done, long nails get in the way of all the typing I do for work, and I do a ton of manual labor around my property on the weekends that they would be trashed in no time. My best friend and her grown daughters all get them done regularly. It seems like they go every two to three weeks...I just can't justify that cost.

I am a horrible nail picker and started doing the color street stickers to help me not mess with them. I do new stickers every week or so with a 3 day plain nail aid in between.
No, I would like to have them painted, but I’m not good at it, I’m cheap, and I work in a lab so I’m usually wearing a t shirt and jeans and it feels kind of silly to have painted nails when the rest of me looks like hell. I do enjoy them when I try to paint them though.
I had acrylics (I think?) put on for my bridal pictures and my wedding. They were popped off less than a day later. I picked at them nonstop. Never again.
I've never had fake nails, and I rarely get manicures/pedicures. Usually only before a big event, such as a wedding. I've started using nail strips in the last year and a half for polish, and I love them.
Aside from being cheap, I cannot stand the feeling of having my nails filed. So getting my nails done is not fun or relaxing at all. If I enjoyed it more it's possible I'd get them done.
Both of my sisters and my mom did fake nails and regular nail salon visits for years. They stopped because of COVID and IDK if they'll start again (they also have gotten into nail strips). But given that I thought I was more the odd one by NOT getting mine done.

Yes. I get a gel or dip manicure (on my own nails) every 3-4 weeks (depending on when my nails get too long and start to drive me nuts) and a pedicure every 4-6 weeks (so usually every other time i'm at the salon). I feel so much more put together when I have my nails done. I joke that no one but me and my mom even notice (I picked up this habit from her) but I really enjoy the look, so why not?
I don’t do fake nails because the ruin my regular nails. I do get manicures rarely, but typically just clear coat because I hate how they chip right away.
I love pedicures though because the color never chips off and they look great for 3-4 weeks. I wouldn’t say I get them often but I do occasionally.
I do gel polish every 2 weeks. This is the longest I’ve kept it up, I started going right at Christmas time. I found a lady that does a great job and they rarely lift or anything. I’ll keep it up until I’m tired of going to get them done and then I’ll just paint them myself.

I had my nails done once for a wedding, 20 years ago. I buy better polish and do my own. I prefer sheer colors on my fingers so it's pretty easy.
I have never had a pedicure. The thought of someone touching my feet and painting my toenails just is so unappealing to me. I do my own.
I've never had a massage either, kind of ties into the pedicure situation. I've re-gifted many gift cards for these services over the years, since most people assume they're good gifts.

Not since well before COVID started. I typically go a few times in the summer for a gel manicure (which is also terrible for my nails). I want to go back, but weary as it's a little more touchy. I'll get there, I'm ready lol. I just had my first pedicure in over a year and it was heaaaaaven.
I get a gel mani and pedi every 2 weeks. I just started this routine in the last 2 months and it provides me great joy in my life. It's expensive so I am not sure how long I will continue with it but painted nails really makes me feel more put together.
Nope. I have on occasion as a social thing (weddings, going with a friend), but I never do it myself, and definitely not regularly. I have no idea when the last time was.
The only exception was when I was pregnant, I did get pedis when I couldn't reach my own toes anymore. Even then I didn't do manis though.
