I'm well out of the baby stage and not sure what the coolest and best baby items are these days. My coworker is having a baby and I'd like to get him and his fiance a gift, thinking less than $50. Their baby registry is pretty much all purchased, otherwise I would have just gotten them something from there.
The Nose Frida is electric now, but they probably registered for that. I think it’s around $50.
Otherwise, my go to is a small basket of infant ibuprofen, gripe water, gas drops, nipple cream, saline mist for baby’s nose, etc. I also include books. It’s hard to go wrong with that gift because people tend to forget about medicine stuff like that and even if it’s gets doubled up, it always comes in handy eventually.
My go to gift is always a lingerie bag. For small socks, mitts & stuff like that. So nice to just throw stuff in there and then zip it up for washing & drying and keeps all that small stuff together.
I also like the zipper sleeper idea if you don't have other ideas. That was the main clothing thing I had to buy a lot of in the early months because the clothes people gave were more like cute outfits or onesies.
Eta: swaddles are nice too but if they are doing a Snoo bassinet (another big thing nowadays) it has a built in swaddle already so they may not need more.
I agree zipper sleepers (not necessarily just NB 0-3mo, too! 3-6, 6-9, etc), books (I love when people write a note to baby in them), and gc for food/restaurant/convenience of some sort.
Money/GC. I hate this answer, but it’s the best answer.
After having a baby, I didn’t use most of the “must have” items and my kid was/is very picky about just about everything. lol.
I used to always try to give nice, thoughtful, sometimes handmade gifts and it turns out most people don’t want to get that kind of stuff, either. I’m a big thrifter and always see brand new homemade baby blankets. ALWAYS. Nice stuff, not chintzy cheesy stuff. People just have very specific tastes. That said, we did get a few things like this and I personally LOVED them, but they came from people very special to me and I’m naturally a very sentimental person.
Frida Baby Windi. My baby had a lot of gas the first 12 weeks of her life and these things released it instantly.
Not a parent and the only Frida thing I know of is the nose thing you stick up their nose to suck out the snot, do you...stick this in the baby's butt?
Huhm, great ideas. Thank you! Zipper jammies are a winner I think. I also noticed that they don't have a Bundle Me on their registry and that was a godsend when my babies were little so I added that to my Amazon cart too

Yes. It is built so that you can never push it too far. I know some parents aren't comfortable with this but it works instantly. It whistles and baby feels instantly better. It also helps with constipation.

I buy the H&M wrap over onesies and footie pants, because baby socks are for suckers.
The zip up sleepers are good too, but absolutely need the ones with 2-way zippers so you unzip from the foot end in the MOTN for diaper changes. That became a thing between my first and second kids.

Yes! It whistles when the gas comes out!
Interesting! I wonder if it works for adults...lol

I don't think it would as adults are able to fart on their own. In the first 3 months, the sphincter is still immature for babies so farting on their own is hard. The Windi allows it to open and relax. I didn't need the Windi after 12 weeks. Gas drops don't work for that. Once the gas is trapped in the intestines, it's too late.
If they registered for a diaper genie, I'd buy refills for that along with diapers and wipes. If they're cloth diapering, a wet bag or extra cloth diapers (I hear you can never have too many).
The last shower I went to, the registry was pretty much sold out by the time I tried to shop.
I got her a box of diapers and a target gift card (plus two books that had been my kids' favorites). I know it's more fun to give a "thing" but I remember as a new parent being so overwhelmed by all the stuff. Sometimes less is more.

honestly? Amazon gift card. I spent thousands of dollars on Amazon during middle of the night feedings trying to buy anything to make parenting easier.

Is the Bundle Me the thing for the infant car seat? Most of them are not safe so that might be why they didn’t register for it. I’d stick to diapers, wipes, zip up sleepers, books or a target/amazon gift card.
