We ran out of candy after two hours. I was—-not prepared for how many people we had. I had 4 giant bags of candy and 3 giant boxes of chips/goldfish, and it wasn’t enough. Oops. Oh well, not like I want to be out there all night either.
I’m glad I paid Xavier $25 to stay home and hand out candy, it was so crazy crowded. People truck in to our neighborhood and there was lots of pushing /bumping of shoulder/etc bc the sidewalks are so narrow. He would have been in pain with his broken collarbone
I knew it would be crowded but I underestimated how quickly it would get crowded.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
We set a bowl out on the front porch with the lights on (front door open but storm door closed) and let kids help themselves this year. Our golden boy loves people so hard; he just stood there the whole time with his tail wagging silently watching the little humans take candy. People's reactions were so funny - I could see it on the Ring - like, this dog is handing out candy. 😂
Y’all - my ducking 6 year old TOOK HIMSELF TOT for an entire block before a neighbor sat his ass down and called us (we thought he was upstairs with his brother). Parents of the ducking year over here. I’m really thankful for a safe neighborhood with people who know we wouldn’t let our kids do that and nothing bad happened.
Punishment - he sat outside with me and watched the other kids TOT. It was mean but he most certainly learned a major safety lesson.
Also - our neighborhood had designated TOT hours with everyone putting candy out on a table by their walkways so it was like a block party and SO FUN. And made me extra glad my daredevil middle child was ok.
Turns out that if you wait till Halloween to buy candy, you are SOL. After going to 4 stores today, we finally just bought a bunch of single serve chip bags and will give those out instead.
I had a kid shame me tonight because the Reese’s we gave out were shaped like Christmas trees. Hey, kid, deal with it, that’s all the store had and it tastes the same.

My kids like the houses that give out chips or drinks I think they got reeses Easter eggs so, fresh trees would be better!
namasteak, omg! That will be a funny story when he’s older, but I’m glad all is well!
It’s 12:30. I have to get up for my flight at 3:45. I don’t know why I always choose the night before a super early flight to screw around and stay up super late. Tomorrow is going to be rough.
