Oh! I am going on a disney cruise next month, lol. It’s my 2nd. We are going with our best friends and their kids. She is also from Puerto Rico, and it leaves from PR. So we will go visit H’s family first.
We prefer Celebrity cruises, but we do it to be with them, we love traveling together. Anyway, I was a bit shocked that it didn’t feel MORE disney on the cruise.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I find Disneyland fucking magical. I don't understand even having a strong enough opinion on how someone else vacations to "hate on them."
I am not a lay on the beach and drink at an AI resort person but I don't make fun of people who are. That is a nightmare vacation for me, and often just as whitewashed as a Disney vacation. Since we're using that word. Some people only do that as a vacation. People brag about having everything they need and never having to leave the resort. Sounds familiar.
You are going to find message boards for fanatics of almost everything. Knitting, pottery, collecting bags and collecting figurines and on and on. Can't we just be cool with what people like? Can't we just say, I don't really like it for my family but I'm glad you do. Or anything that isn't specifically making fun of people for what they like? But you know, put out whatever you want into the world.

Disney is a company that champions safety for children and human rights, while pouring money into FL politicians who hurt those causes. It's not magic, it's just garden variety corporate greed.
I went when I was 5 with my family and I have good memories. H & I went on our honeymoon and had a blast. We love roller coasters! We had dreams of taking DS6 at some point but he's autistic and hates crowds, loud noises, bright lights, gets nauseous easily etc. Basically everything theme parks have he hates. IF we took him to any theme park it would be Legoland because he loves legos but even that's a hard no at this point. So.

But, hey. Have fun!
The condescension is heard loud and clear. Getting your point across without being shitty and mean to others is a skill. When you don't have it, it comes across like this meme.

Adults doing Disney isn't a hobby/interest like knitting though because I'm pretty sure that KnittingLand isn't 1. designed for children and 2. wholly divorced from reality.

Are you saying I’m divorced from reality, dick?!? HMM, ARE YOU?! Is it my love for Supernatural??

I am definitely divorced from reality. It's nice in my place though. Just letting people live and enjoy what they want. Doing your best to be kind and understanding. Life is really short.
No one is saying Disney isn’t problematic. I would wager nearly every for-profit company of its size and age is problematic in one way or another. And I get if it is the big bad in your backyard it is worse.
But people also enjoy Amazon (..:and even recommend to others given post history) and the deals it gives. And supporting Amazon is problematic too. Sure you might not say it is magical - because that is not what Amazon sells. But you would say it is cheap and gets there when you need it - which is what it sells.
Basically to live in the US and be in the majority is to likely be complicit in one way or another. We have had many conversations about this. And we all have “our” thing. And most people try to do better in one way or another.
So go enjoy your Amazon deals, and let people enjoy their Disney. That doesn’t make you a horrible person.

Yes, and I’m not even a HUGE fan, but I am def sounding like one, especially with the 2nd cruise upcoming. Lol.
Most people in here did not start with the things you listed, but more just making fun of hardcore Disney fans. You can express legit concerns without sounding like an ass!

We love going to Disneyland and currently have passes. We don't regularly have passes, but have really loved having them for the past year. With tickets covered, it makes each trip really affordable - so we are able to take quite a few trips for the price of one big trip somewhere else.
That said, what I love most about Disney parks is their accessibility for people with disabilities. My mom and brother (age 19) also have passes with us. My brother has a very severe disability, and Disneyland is his favorite place. It is, by far, the most accessible and welcoming place we have ever been. It is the only place where he can do everything, and we have not felt left out or like a burden. It is the only place where his use of a wheelchair gives him an advantage. We have traveled with him to quite a few places, and we never see as many similar families as we do at Disney. He doesn't have access to a lot of cool things in life, but Disneyland is something that bring him so much joy and has been created in a way that is welcoming and available to him.
Disney is great with food allergies, too. There are a lot of places that are now as well but 5-10 years ago that wasn't the case. It was one of the only vacations we could easily go that would easily accommodate DD's severe dairy allergy when she was younger and made her feel special while doing it. Can Disney be problematic? Of course. I can't think of a single company that isn't though.
The judging in this thread is getting a little much now. Life is short and has been spectacularly shitty for the past several years. Do what brings you joy whether that is Disney, cruising, Europe, camping, Comic-con conventions, whatever. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it bad.

I admit I’ve been judgy about the adults who live and breathe Disney and then I just thought about my husband who doesn’t leave the house without wearing some sort of favorite sports team gear and obsesses about future team schedules so he can plan road game trips. It’s basically the same thing lol.
My coworker just went to a scrapbooking convention this weekend. Sounds like my worst nightmare, but good for her for finding joy.
I really think we would all be better off if more people found activities that bring them joy. Lean in. Get weird. Be a Disney Adult. If you are not harming others, then good for you.

Ah yes, and my MIL goes to quilting conventions. We do indeed make fun of her in a joking way but also like that she has a hobby that keeps her happy.

I love Disney and we go once every few years. Dh grew up in OC and had annual passes through high school as he and all his friends would hang out there all day.
