My labs love all vegetables. I couldn't figure out what was happening to my zucchini plants last year. I figured the squirrels or birds were eating them as I could see them but next day they were gone.
Nope our younger lab was helping herself. So this year we planted zucchini for her and strawberries for her brother in a planter they can get. And then zucchini for us in a raised planter.
Our older dog loves strawberries so much. Eats them right off the plant. His favorite stuffy is a Lotso (from toy story) and the belly smells like strawberries. He has 6 of them ha
Our chocolate lab once jumped on the kitchen counter (by which I mean all the way on, not counter surfing) and stood on her back legs to reach a super high shelf that had a Costco bottle of 500 Advil. She chewed through the plastic and ingested every last damn Advil. The rescue told us she didn’t have to be crated when we were gone. Um, apparently not. Thank goodness we got home extremely soon after and she was puking it all up. We sped to the evet sobbing hysterically and she had a four-day visit with her stomach pumped twice. They told us she would have ulcers at best. She was 100% fine and lived 14.5 years.
My dog did this a few weeks ago. She shit on the floor a couple of times (unusual for her) and had diarrhea for about a week but seemed fine. Vet said not to worry.
this is helpful. he definitely has diarrhea and did seem a little subdued earlier. You could tell he wasn't feeling his usual, playful self but right now he is chewing a toy and tail wagging.
Sorry we all hijacked your thread with stories of things our dogs have eaten. I hope your pup continues to do well and in a week or so you can tell others the story of the time your lab ate an entire carcass of a rotisserie chicken and it barely affected him. ❤️

I don't mind. It's a nice distraction and actually makes me feel more relaxed.
He's had diarrhea a few tines through the day and had one at 7pm. At 8:45 he tried to poop but almost nothing came out. I'm thinking he just doesn't have anything. left to poop out. Praying its not a blockage :-(
He came in acting playful and energetic. He is still eating fine so I'm thinking he's still ok.
My dog gets fierce diarrhea whenever we let him have chicken. Even just a small bite upsets his tummy. I hope that’s all that’s wrong with your fuzzy jerk 😁
When I was a kid, we had an oversized weimaraner, he was 120 lbs and could rest his chin on the counter. One night he made off with the rib roast that was supposed to be dinner. My mom chased him all around the house trying to get it from him.
Another time I was sick and mom brought me leftover pizza to eat for lunch while I was in her bed watching kid movies. I went to the bathroom, and our ancient cat stole both pieces! She was SO OLD, I cannot stress this enough, I didn't even think she could jump on the bed 😂
And there was the time I was starving after July 4th fireworks in DC. I was so looking forward to eating a leftover cheeseburger and my westie snatched it out of my hand.
My dog did this one. I called the vet as soon as I realized and they told me to just keep an eye on him for unusual behaviors. He looked like he had done regrets from eating all of that at once, but it all turned out fine.

My old dog (greyhound) once at a styrofoam container of chicken wings. Including bones and styrofoam container. He was fine 🤷♀️
Can I ask you, did you see bone fragments coming out at all?
did she ever struggle to poop with very little coming out (liquidy) after having a lot of diarrhea?
I'm trying to figure out if there's a blockage or he just doesn't have much to poop at this point.
I havent seen signs of the carcass though :-( Not sure how much breaks down.
he is acting typical/ energetic still. Well its night time so sleeping mostly but he ran upstairs from outside. He ate dinner and no vomiting so I'm thinking we are good to keep waiting but idk.

he's acting pretty normal except his poop is not coming out that well.
He seems happy. It's 5am and I got up and took him for a walk hoping to loosen some things up. He definitely feels the need to poop but only small liquid amounts are coming out. So he get a little out then move and crouch and then nothing. a couple hours layer, same thing.
I'd probably be at ER already if he wasnt still being a goofball. We gornin from his walk and he went straight to his good bowl all ready to eat. It's too early so I just gave him an ice cube because I read it helps and he loves them. I might call vet when they open and just check in.
If he starts refusing food, retching or vomits up his food or even looses his happy temperament, I'll brig him in.
I was reading it can take a couple days to fully pass. I just dont see much coming out so I'm a bit worried.

I know what you mean about the trying to go with nothing coming out - when Dunkin has had an upset stomach and diarrhea, after the initial giant squirt pile he’ll ask to go out and then crouch and nothing comes out. I think like us they feel that crampy gotta go feeling. White rice and pumpkin always helps his belly get back to normal.

yes! I think he just has an upset stomach but nothing left to come out.

This is how my dog reacted as well. She pooped so much that sometimes nothing came out. I’d say she had watery poop for about a week, then it started to slowly go back to normal. I never saw any bone fragments. She was pretty lethargic for a day or two — I think she didn’t feel very good.
I gave her pumpkin and rice for a few days and that seemed to help
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Yay so glad he’s doing well! Is he pooping normally now?
Not normally but he seemed to have a turning point.
This part is icky! After about 11am yesterday he stopped "trying" to poop. I thought it was a good sign but wasn't positive. I did check in with vet to make sure it wasn't a warning sign of a blockage but they thought it might be good as well especially since he was acting so energetic and playful. They suggested I try to bulk up his poop with rice and bread.
Then at 10pm he went easily and it was good sized but very soft.
I think it could be a couple more days until back to normal but I'm thinking the worst is passed.

That definitely sounds positive!! When we got the dog I realized I hadn’t thought so much about someone else’s poop since DD was a newborn lol.
When Dunks had a diarrhea bout recently I remember saying to H when he was on the mend that it wasn’t firm but more like a soft serve ice cream rather than liquid.
yes, that seems to be how it was. I actually didn't see it. My husband said it was at least holding together with some shape and then said "and then I gagged". He is hilarious. DH has never been good with poop. Even with the boys. He still changed their diapers but would make a gagging sound if it was bad. 🤣🤣🤣

My H was the same. I remember once he was doing a diaper and started screaming for help. DD had an explosion that went all over his hands and the wall. DD thinks that story is hilarious! To be fair, I’d have called for available backup too.

My pit mix still (he's 13) has a bad habit of eating things he shouldn't so I feel like I'm constantly obsessing over his poop. We spent an evening at the vet urgent care a few weeks ago because dumbass ate the filling out of an overnight pull-up that SOMEONE (not me coughhusbandcough) forgot to throw away after he took it off the toddler and I legit looked at my dog and told him "Dude. Either you are going to eat something that will kill you itself or something that could require surgery and THAT will kill you, please knock it the F off." You'd think getting pumped full of meds to make him puke the diaper filling up then meds to stop the nausea plus subcutaneous fluids would deter him but no, I caught him trying to eat a hair tie a few days later. It's a a good thing he's cute!
I saw your update, so glad your pup seems to be on the mend. These dogs, I swear.
