The mechanic just solemnly walked over to me and I was like oh, fuck. He was carrying the cabin air filter from my car that was completely disgusting, covered in dirt and leaves lol. He was like yea this is why your a/c is making that noise, I'm surprised you're getting any airflow at all in there. Didn't know that was even a thing. Anyway, I need that and wiper blades so I'm not too bad off today! #blessed
My demented neighbor is power washing the yard. She spent like 3 hours out there with it yesterday, right now she’s literally using it to wash individual leaves into a pile. There’s a rake right there!!
She does this on like a weekly basis. What a waste of water and electricity.
And there’s nowhere in the apartment you can escape the noise.
I can’t get over this tree thing. We have one that sounds similar that you described (by our house, not fence) and I’m even sentimental for that thing because H and I picked it out together.
Holy shit, mel. That is one of the worst things I've ever heard on here. I'm glad you're pressing charges, and agree that you might be able to salvage this with a tree person's advice. Add the cost to your lawsuit.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I am trying to decorate an office with a few people and I need an online spot where we can all log in, post pics, see how it works together and see what others like. Right now there are just 59billion texts being thrown around and no way to collate/keep track of everything.
I’m confident this exists, but don’t know what it is. What am I looking for?

I just got an email requesting an extension on a deadline from a woman on maternity leave. This is her second request, and she seemed so apologetic and gave a whole explanation about not having childcare and how maternity leave wasn't going as expected.
There is literally no urgency to this deadline, it just helps me track whether I'm getting the work back or not.
I was so happy to be able to write back and just be like "please enjoy your baby. I extended your deadline an extra month past your requested date, and am happy to extend further if needed. Truly do not stress about this."
I think people in her position think the deadline is much more important than it is. I feel like a fairy godmother when I can grant requests like this, but it truly was always arbitrary to begin with.
mel779 - my face right now! What is wrong with her!! Have y’all had issues with her before?
My much adored MIL passed away and gifted us so many wonderful things throughout the years. I would be LIVID. And my DH would probably cry.
We have had issues with her in the past. The most notable was DS2's 5th birthday party. We had it on a Sunday at 2:00pm out in our backyard. There were probably 10 kids (we have a big family) all playing/screaming (we had water sprinklers and water balloons) and she called the cops because we were being too loud. She's also yelled over her fence at us before when we've been grilling and it's "too smoky" and she doesn't like the smell of what we're grilling. She's super aggressive anytime we try to talk with her about anything. She's just a miserable human being.
I would have the exact same party every. single. Sunday at 2pm-5pm. Because yards are for playing in and weekends are for relaxing and having fun.

Shared Pinterest Board? Canva?
Or even something as simple as a shared Google drive or doc.
I've posted before that there is a colleague who is really bad at her job.
I'm acting this week and just got an email from a customer asking for status. I'm also in class, so I emailed her and asked for an update. She writes back "this wasn't on her radar."
Uhhh, I can't go back to someone and admit you're not doing your job. What is your solution?
mel in my in-law's neighborhood, a woman ( I think she actually had mental illness as she wasn't this way for the decades she lived there) began to torment the family that moved in next door to her. The things she did were insane.
Two years into the harassment, the harassed neighbors actually ended up getting a huge inflatable middle finger and having it sit along their fence facing harasser's house along with a few of those car wash floating in the wind inflatables.

Why is she even working if she’s on maternity leave?

mel, I am so sorry that this happened. I am so upset and angry for you and your MH. I hope karma gets her. Like one of the PP said I would be having parties every weekend and grilling up a storm.
We pretty much do. Every Sunday, my brother and his kids, my parents and the 5 of us (DH, me, DS1 and his GF, DS2) have dinner at my house, 11 of us total. We all sit outside, with our 3 dogs and music and grill every Sunday in the summer. In the winter, we let the kids play with the blow up sleds and have snowball fights.
mel , do you have a dog? If not, find someone who does and put all of the dog's shit on her doorstep - daily.
I am so sorry, my heart is sad for you and your DH.
We do have a dog. He doesn't bark at many people, but he barks at her. And he turns on his mean bark for her (he's never so much as hurt a fly, but he has a very ferocious sounding bark, he's part Doberman). We do let him pee on her fence.
I really appreciate all the outrage on our behalf. It's been bothering me all day. I haven't talked to DH yet to see if he's spoken to the Law Director. I want to have the conversation when I get home, loudly, outside, so she can hear that she fucked up royally.

Why is she even working if she’s on maternity leave?
Excellent question. My understanding is that academic research is a lifestyle, not just a career. As far as I can tell none of them ever sleep and they all work 18 hours/day, 7 days/week.
I am only tangentially adjacent, but I would never encourage anyone to become a scientist at a University because it seems horrible. I'm actually actively trying to help a current post doc get out.
I think my youngest might be getting ready to start her period. She has been having cramps and now dark brown discharge. She also goes to sleep away camp this Sunday for a week (already bought her a period survival kit). My baby is growing up so fast!
Holy shit! Time to file a police report. Seriously, that is trespassing and destroying property. I am so sorry, I can't imagine how tough this must be for you all, especially your husband. A little Japanese maple will not do anything to her fence. We have a good sized one, much taller than yours, close to our house and drive way and it has not done boo to either.
