I've seen a fair amount of complaints about school car lines and it makes me even more grateful that I do bus drop off/pick up monitoring at my work. My boss was like I don't care who does what as long as every spot is covered. Some people switched but not me! I'll take 5-10 minutes of buses over crossing guard duty any day of the year!
Work has been awesome so far. I'm an Instructional Para so right now we're just supporting the kinder teachers and getting stuff taken care of to get ready for testing (to see who qualifies for extra reading and/or resource room help).
The secrets thread from yesterday got me to finally talk to H about our NYC trip in the fall. It's booked! And it was all under $1K- round trip, non-stop, our preferred times and seats. What a steal! I'm now dreaming of fall in New York.
Luckily our car line at David's school isn't too bad EXCEPT, and I've posted about this before, the dad who gets out of his car every single morning to hug and kiss ALL FOUR of his kids and help them put their backpacks on, lol. I somehow always end up behind him and I just glare at him.
Our car line is horrible because everyone wants to line their car up with the door so they don't have to get out, which ends up creating a line of stopped cars that won't pull up and a line of cars out into the street that can't get in.
I am closing on my house today! My car is loaded up with cleaning supplies so I can give the place a good deep clean this afternoon, there's really nice hardwood hiding under the living room and stairs carpet so that's coming up today or this weekend. I'm getting a quote on floor refinishing to see if that can be done before I move in. I'm super excited!

I bet he "babysits" his kids for his wife too. Come on, what a lucky wife that her husband would do that for "her" kids. I hope you get out every day and applaud him, because he wants you to do that.

Haha, that's too much effort! I just give him dirty looks from inside my car.
My H comes home this afternoon. Between him getting a job and me being home alone all week, this is just what our marriage needed.
Also, I need to find the time to clean the kitchen before 4. I am one of those people that doesn’t like to walk away from the computer for long period while I’m WFH. After 10 minutes teams should you inactive, and I feel guilty. This is all in my head. My boss will call in to a meeting while walking his dog.
Fridays are suuuuuper casual at work. As long as you have no in person meetings, you can basically show up in your pajamas and it will be fine (men routinely wear shorts and a t-shirt on Fridays in my office). I wear leggings most Fridays. Today I got dressed in the mostly dark because I was up super early and didn't want to wake DH. I thought I pulled out black leggings. I JUST realized (after being at work almost 5 hours already) that I have on navy blue.

I bought tickets to see Michelle Obama! My partner is working that day so I confirmed with our current nanny that she could babysit that day. I was thinking of inviting a friend but I decided since I haven’t had my usual solo vacation since 2021 I’ll just have a solo date instead. So I think I’ll spend the afternoon getting a massage or facial, then go to dinner, then go see Michelle It’s a week after my birthday too and I’m sure I’ll also do something fun on my birthday so looking forward to those 2 weekends already!
DS1 had his time trials for cross country this morning. It’s been POURING the entire time. I’m sitting here with beach towels waiting for him to come home. He’s going to be absolutely water logged.
Ahhh DH is going to Myrtle Beach for a golf trip and is a nervous flier...his connection flight was delayed for mechanical issues so now he's sending me farewell texts "I love everyone" and "Love you and the kids!"
Poor guy. At least this is a really short flight so he will be put out of his misery soon.

devonpow, assuming I know your area, I'm truly surprised they allowed outdoor sports today as there were reports of potentially over an inch of rain. I know it's hard to reschedule with the start of coming up, but you don't want everyone getting sick. Hope he's home soon and can get warm. Also good luck!
I've had a super productive morning of assembling a new shelf for the kitchen, transferring the stuff that's staying from the cube shelves we're repurposing elsewhere, and packing up the rest for donation. I even found a couple of unused, matching baskets in a closet that fit perfectly.
Have I done any of the pile of work I'm actually paid to do? Absolutely not 😬
I am in panic mode about childcare--S does not start school until Thursday. His normal babysitters are not available beyond Monday next week, so I have no one to watch him Tuesday or Wednesday. Work is INSANE and I am out of PTO and H is as well.
Well, first off, it’s a typo (should=show). 😂 Our teams-like messaging thing shows you have been inactive after 10 minutes (yellow, not green). We use to have the ability to set the timeout, but now it’s 10 minutes and not changeable. And for me, myself, I’m a butts in chair person. So it bothers me to have it look like I don’t have my butt in my chair. This matters not at all to anyone but me.
When I look back on this year, I really think I will credit Trump's indictments and arrest as the driving factor lifting my mom out of grief during her initial time as a widow. She is so giddy.
Teams will show you as inactive if you're not working in the app, but you can set it to busy, DND, or whatever manually and it'll stay that way until you change it back.
I don't worry too much about it though, I don't use Teams for everything so it'll go inactive even if I'm actively working on something in Word.
ETA: this is at least how my organization's version is set up, I'm sure there are other defaults elsewhere.
Is the right wing talking about another Covid shutdown? I've seen whispering online and I haven't seen anything about this, seems to be coming from them.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

Are you and I the same person? I go nuts when it turns yellow. I’m in my chair all day even if I may be…..goofing off a bit 😂

we are just outside of Boston. Cross country and track don’t cancel anything due to weather - unless there is lightning. He’s had more training runs and meets in pouring rain, sub zero temps, ice, tropical storms etc than I can count. We have had to invest in a lot of good running weather gear and shoe dryers. He’s home and done now, so that’s good!
Now that school has started, business in the store has really slowed down. We usually don't change to our "winter" hours until October, but I'm seriously debating changing them today.
Ds started 6th grade on Monday and is playing football. He is the smallest kid on the team. They have their first game tomorrow and at the end of practice yesterday the coach asked the team what they do if ds gets the ball and they all yelled "Protect K no matter what." It was really cute.
My mom, sister, nieces, nephew, and ils are all coming up today so we can celebrate ds's birthday after his game tomorrow. Other than the game and that, we have no plans.
Oldest kid is living their best life in their first week of college and I couldn't be happier.
Me too. I had a fleeting thought of changing my fb profile pic to his mugshot, then I read he is using it to raise money for his campaign. I don't want anyone thinking I am a trump supporter and it would pretty much violate my strict no politics on fb rule I have for myself. So that's where my thoughts ended on that.
