Fuck fuck fuck. That old adage about keeping a secret. My whole, I can trust these two people with my tournament blew up. The one I specifically said do not tell anyone, sent a text to the group text thread. And I am pissed! I suppose this wasn’t a huge thing to learn you can’t trust someone. Better than a real secret

Who has hair dryer recommendations? My needs:
-I hate drying my hair and I suck at it-I need something uncomplicated -I’d like it to have a decent high heat setting so that it dries faster -Under $100(?) -Easy to store under sink
I’m not too worried about how it will be on my hair-I only go into the office two days a week so I’d only be using it those days and then for any occasions that come up.
That sounds really hard, pinkdutchtulips - I'm sorry. I'm sure this is something you've explored, but is there any kind of therapeutic boarding school you could try? I imagine they are $$$, but seems like you have a lot of professional documentation that she's a worthy candidate.
I’m at the point where I want to explore that option and see how much insurance will cover.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about POA for my dad. Thank you GBCN for the lead on finding a lawyer certified in elderly law. Knock on wood we're going to draft some docs, get things back in order, and move on before things get any worse. Thankfully the lawyer was super nice, and finished in 30 mins so we didn't have to pay as much.

Today I out-condescended a condescending man. I legit said, dripping with superiority, "surely you are not implying that I am misrepresenting the contents of XYZ." A.K.A. call me a liar to my face, mofo, or admit I'm right. He blustered.
He theb called 30 minutes later and agreed I was right and he was wrong.
So my last test result is basically Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. I don't know how I'm *feeling* about it all. My extra fun colonoscopy is Monday where they're going to take a bunch of tissue samples on top of checking everything.
I mean, I know it's manageable, but like, I'm 41 years old. WhereTF did it come from? I just showed up one morning after taking new migraine meds. I really thought it was the meds.
I also hate how tired I am. I hate that I do things like lay down while my kid is in the shower and wake up a hour later and DH has already put her to bed. I know neither one of them were upset, but I was upset.

The hair people might not agree with this, but about a year ago I replaced the hairdryer I’d had since… well, I remember it being in my life in 1998, with this one www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMRFUG8/
OMG, so great. I can put my hair in a microfiber wrap for a bit, then dry it in ~5 mins (past shoulder length). And it looks good. I don’t use it often, but am always happy when I do. And I never dried my hair, hence having the same hair dryer since the 90s.

I’m sitting in the reception area while my kids get their teeth cleaned. A teenage girl gets called next, and as she’s following the hygienist back, her dad (I assume he’s her dad), says, “C U next Tuesday.” Dang, dude! I don’t care what she might have said on the drive over, we’re supposed to be the adults!
My own kids are pissed because they had to walk home in the heat today. I probably should’ve driven to school to pick them up. I was (and still am) in the middle of a fight with my bank because they are making it hard for me to sign up for online banking. Why??? I’m trying not to overreact - I like using a local bank - but if they can’t get this set up after a WHOLE MONTH of me trying to contact them multiple times, then I’m taking my money elsewhere.
I have a colonoscopy and hemorrhoid removal on Monday and I am so not looking forward to the diet the next few days & the prep Sunday. I’m anxious about the recovery since the Dr couldn’t give me specifics since he doesn’t know which removal method he will use until he can see them.
ny96, it can definitely vary! Our Nia was so gentle with our son. She adopted him the minute he was born, slept under his bassinet and was essentially Nana from Peter Pan. Our boy Eskie was the opposite. He loved me and only me.

I’m so sorry you’re anxious about this, but we are here for you to vent, fret, and fritter!! I hope it all goes so much smoother than you could even imagine. When my dad had his first prep, my mom was out of town. He was so nervous! I went over and just hung out with him through it. We just chatted and passed the time, and I accidentally made a few jokes at just the right but almost wrong moment. Lol! That was a good memory from a not fun event, and I hope you too find something to distract you. ❤️
On another note, they’ll do your hemorrhoid removal at a colonoscopy??!?!? Omg I need this so bad, and I didn’t know I could combine two awful things. Thank you for letting me know!

DS2 has piano on Tuesdays and as we left this week I cheerfully called out “see you next Tuesday!” to the instructor. I was then promptly mortified
pinkdutchtulips, you're really in an impossible situation. I am really sorry that she is making it impossible for you to help her. My husband had a niece that lived with him after his sister passed who was difficult in a lot of the same ways. It is a lot for one person to take on.
I tried but he was studying his phone. Maybe I should have said something to him. I was just really shocked. I hope the hygienist said something comforting to the girl because I'm sure she was at least embarrassed.

ny96, this is not going to be super helpful, but our boy dog is (I'm pretty sure) a shiba inu mix. The rescue called him a chihuahua mix, which is true, but he's fluffiest chihuahua you'll ever meet. Anyway, we adopted him as a senior, but LOVES to go for walks even though he's blind in one eye and has a wobbly leg. He lets his diva sister (chi-terrier mix) boss him around, and he's chill except for a few quirks that we blame on having a rough life before he came to us.

I am STRUGGLING to get into a workout routine these days. Every morning I mean to get up and work out, and every morning I hit snooze too many times and don't. It's not even like a conscious decision - I make bad choices when I'm sleeping. What the hell? Then I end up not showering for part of the day because I think I'm going to have time to work out during the day, but then I get busy doing work stuff and don't. And by the evening I'm tired and I need to make/eat dinner and then I don't work out. It's all dumb but I can't seem to shake myself into changing it. And I'm guessing I wouldn't be so tired all the damn time if I was in better shape!
I feel you. Cliché as it is, it really took finding my workout tribe, and now it’s as much social as sweating. I’d been doing the spin bike in the basement for half an hour after work on WFH days for months, and it was such a chore I hated. The bad part is it’s so late at night. Like, 8-10pm, with 15 minutes on each side.
that said, if you can get away at lunchtime (and once it’s not oppressive outside), hit me up and I’ll lap the lake with you.
Third day of school and Big Kid's middle school is closing early for "HVAC Issues". In other words the air conditioning broke and it's going to hit 94 this afternoon (with a solid 50% humidity and storms forecast so that will rise). Woo? Lets see if she remembers to bring home her cello. It went to school day 1 and she keeps "forgetting" to bring it home.
Mala, your kid plays cello? Lucky! I LOVE the cello. Absolutely love it.

That sounds good - we will definitely have to do that! Now that the weather should be getting more pleasant (soon), I want to do more outdoor walks since I actually do enjoy that. Very lucky that there are multiple lakes nearby to walk!
I end up wasting a lot of time most days anyway so idk why I can't seem to prioritize 30-60 minutes a day to just do this - I don't love or hate exercise, it just is. But I am a couch potato at heart so it's just so tough not to be lazy. I know that's unacceptable as I get older though.

Ok enough with the rambling pity thoughts.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. My H had basically the same thing happen in his late 30s. Living his life completely unaware until BAM, one day he had a severe stomachache and they found a huge mass in his colon.
He’s doing really well though! He takes a (monthly?) injection for it and as far as I can tell, he’s had zero side effects and it doesn’t affect his life at all. I hope the same for you!

She does! She started in 4th grade and I was surprised it was her first choice. She started private lessons last year (midway through 5th) at the suggestion of her band teacher. She improved SO MUCH over the last half of the year and the summer. She started 6th grade a few days ago, and has been in a bit of a snit about practicing, I think she just needed a break and not having anything for a concert to work on is making her a little bored with what she's been playing.

A's baseball coach was nearly killed last night in a terrible accident. He is a police officer and his partner was killed. A high school student with learner's permit was running from police and despite them not pursuing, he fled and on the 2nd red light he ran, he ran into coach's car (they werent pursuing him, just bad timing). We were just with him at practice. He is so great with the kids and such a fantastic coach. We're naming the team after him this season and I really hope he's able to recover (his injuries are bad). Today has been a lot of day.
(Puppy lost 16(!!!!!!) teeth for a grand total of 2850 🙃😢-- here's Ms. Toothless and Ruthless herself)
We met ds1’s teacher yesterday and I love her! So happy that he has made it through elementary school with amazing teachers.
Does anyone have a Shiba Inu? We’ve put in an application to rescue one, and I know a bit about the breed, but not much.
I don’t have one but I walk two as regular clients. They will go on walks for hours, I’m not even kidding. They could walk all day long and still want to go back out for an evening walk. One owner will spend five hours on a Saturday on a walk with their shiba. (!!!) (but the owner is a bit strange to begin with) They love their family but can be a bit cat like with their affection, they want affection when they want it, not always when their owner wants it. They don’t care for other dogs if the dogs are also dominant personalities. They are stubborn. STUBBBBBBBORN. it’s their way or the highway which can make them difficult to train. They’re adorable but I’m way too lazy to have one as my pet. The owners of the two I walk are both not the original owner, they were both rehomed bc the original owners didn’t realize the quirks of the breed. But both my clients love their dogs fiercely.
