It’s very raw and rainy here and it’s going to be like this all weekend. Both the xc meets will be cancelled. I looove this fall storms and I’m enjoying it.
DD got her permit yesterday. I’m so excited for this next stage! One less taxi passenger!
lol also raw and rainy here but XC is never cancelled. DS1 was on the bus at 7 AM but doesn’t run until 1:30. We are heading there now - I wasn’t going to stand in rain all day even though he has to
Xavier was invited to a birthday party today at a jump place. He just told me that we have to pay $25 for his admission. That’s not a bday party! That’s just dudes hanging out.
Is this the norm now? I’ve never made a kid pay when we take them along with us for a bday celebration (or anything for that matter but definitely not bdays). I probably sound like an asshole but it definitely surprised me to have to pay. And I get to drive 40 minutes there and back bc it’s 4.5 hours. Fun Saturday for me! Lol.
My SS was invited to a Dave and Busters type place we have here. The invite told us the cost of the shoe rental and laser tag- so we had to send money for that and some for games. There’s no admission so all they paid for was the actual bowling game.
THEN they didn’t even feed him! We picked him up and asked what he ate, said they didn’t have food! I was pissed!

I was shocked the high school meet was cancelled! DD said it wouldn’t be unless there was thunder but alas, it was. I hope the race is short and sweet

Busy day so far. I dropped DS1 at the CC bus at 620. DH ran his half marathon at 730 and I was a timer for 2.5 hours at DD's 8am swim meet. Then ran a couple errands and now home for lunch.
My kid wants to do the art club at school, but dang the requirements to submit are ridic for one week notice for 4th and 5th graders. 3 different pieces!
I may see if she wants to use something she did in class last year.
I finished up my second week of work after 15 years off, and I'm so tired. I know it will get better; I happened to start just before the biggest event of the year. I also have no idea how to do one aspect of my job, but I'll pick it up over time, I'm sure.
But for right now, I miss my dog, my kids, and just being in my house full time. Even if I partly took this job to get away from my dog, my kids, and being in the house all the time.
We're at the airport heading home after our visit to Sedona and the Grand Canyon.
1. Highly recommend both. Sedona was so beautiful. Happy sigh.
2. I forgot that I get headaches and nosebleeds at high altitude. I had to essentially halve my planned hikes. Couldn't hack it.
3. My kids are kind of the worst. But also kind of the best. My husband is only the best.
4. There's this guy talking on speaker phone to his wife. She is currently running a garage sale and he is tormenting her about what they are going to eat for, like, the next 9 meals. She's like "grilled cheese for dinner, I don't know" and he goes "I've been traveling, I'd like something lighter." I would tell him not to come home.

A local church hosted a carnival at DS's school yesterday evening. They were lovely and I kind of want to try out the church. Its non-denominational. Would it be weird to just try out a service sometime and not go back if we don't like it?

It’s warm and sunny here today. Did the farmers market and then went to the fine art festival. It was all in the sun and I started feeling a little crappy so we left early. As I get older, I can tolerate the heat/direct sun less and less. Also doesn’t help I basically only had iced coffee so far this morning whoops. Home in the AC and feeling much better.
I’m in the mood for a lazy weekend. I have a new book on my Kindle and 4 episodes of Love Is Blind to watch!
It is a gorgeous, absolutely perfect fall day here. I brought the dog to my son’s soccer game, but she is pretty crazy, so now we are sitting in the shade off away from the other people. Even though it’s a beautiful day, there are 1 million kids on this team and my son is hardly playing so the game is actually pretty boring. Today is my oldest’s first homecoming dance. She is going with a group of friends and they are coming to our house to take pictures later this afternoon. I really hope she has a great night!

Is it too early for Halloween nail art? I currently have Barbie themed but I really want lime green with Frankenstein accents (one nail with the face and one with stitch marks), but it’s still Sept.
I have short coffin gel nails so I know it would be cute, but I’m hesitant. My nail appointment is in 3.5 hours.

Not weird at all. We did that when we were church shopping. One popular one in our area was a huge no for me, I had a panic attack in the middle of the service due to a trigger. Obviously never went back. I think we went to 4 different churches before we landed where we are now. They also may have online services you can watch see if you like the vibe.

I made sure the place takes Apple Pay and he’s also bring a backup $20 bc I’m assuming he’s on his own for food.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

That's totally normal to shop around before deciding. If they *do* make you feel weird, then you know it's not the place for you.

Isn’t this exactly how it’s done?
I haven't been to church in ages aside from when it was required at DS's preschool. That church was fine, but I want to see what else is out there. I just didn't want to offend anyone but showing up once and not returning.
Our new dog is so sweet, but her elimination habits are driving me crazy. Yesterday we left her all day for the first time. I came home and took her for a short walk during which she sniffed everything, but didn’t go. When we got home I took her out and she peed, and then at bed time I had to walk her around for 20 minutes before she peed. Then this morning I woke up and took her out, and nothing happened, I brought her back inside, two hours later I took her back outside and finally 15 minutes into what was supposed to be a short walk she finally peed. She won’t go in the backyard. We’re spending so much time just trying to get her to go.

We are painting the living room this weekend. It’s fairly easy and straight forward. I am SO SO glad I had the ceiling painted last year when I had a bookcase installed. It’s was such an afterthought- like, oh, the room is clear, the professional are here and somebody asked “Hey lady, do you want your ceiling painted, too” I said “sure”.
My birthday this week was overshadowed by back to school nights and the kids' soccer games were both cancelled due to the weather so I decided I wanted to celebrate with the vegetarian Indian buffet. We planned all of our errands for that side of town, only to find out that the restaurant wasn't serving buffet because of the weather.
We ordered off the menu and it was really good, but didn't scratch the buffet itch. It's so disappointing!

I am currently wearing a shirt with coffee, bats, pumpkins & ghosts on it. So I say go for it.

I personally would wait until mid-October and do a fall theme for this set, but that's just me!

Was the buffet supposed to be outside? What does whether have anything to do with a buffet?

Maybe they didn’t think they’d have enough patrons to offset the cost of making all the food?

Some dogs are *very* particular about their bathroom habits. One of mine will not eliminate in the yard unless it's an emergency. We do 2 good walks per day and a trip to the end of the block before bed. She has plenty of outside time in the yard and chooses not to eliminate. *shrug* IIRC your dog is still extremely new and adjusting to life with your family. You may find her habits change as she gets more comfortable. If you want her to eliminate in the yard, reward her generously when she does so. You can also try to train a cue for eliminating.

A new dog takes time to get comfortable with literally everything. I’d bring some good treats and reward and praise like crazy for potty for at least the next month.

How old is she? Is she having accidents in the house?
Try taking her to the same spot every time and waiting her out. When she goes reward with a high value reward.
Like others said, she is still learning the routine of the house and settling in. She will learn the expectations!
