Have fun wildrice,! ((( pandorica,))) good vibes and prayers it's an easy (and inexpensive) fix. fangoriagurkel, you're a great granddaughter <3 Hope she has a great birthday.
We had a weekly check-in meeting today that normally takes place on Friday. My days are so off I think I'll think tomorrow is Monday again.
Spotify tells me one of the Duggar daughters (and her husband?) has a podcast. I didn't follow them other than the recent documentary on Amazon, but reading a lot of stuff here I really wish companies would stop supporting that sh!t. I'm reading a fictional book right now where the mom has a mommy blog and her daughter (subject of the blog) goes missing. While fictional, it's eye opening how much pressure is put on kids who star in these reality show or are otherwise pressured in to social media fame. I guess it's a cycle where the Duggars say for example feel the "only way they can make money" is by continuing podcasts, writing books and staring on shows and things, but it's not true. I also saw a special (Dark Side of the 2000's) about John and Kate + 8. That's another one I (thankfully) missed most of. I'm glad most of the kids seem to be staying away from fame...at least for now. Kate though, she's still trying to hang on.
Good luck! I got the code for Nashville and am waiting to see how much the tickets go for before making a decision.
He was at the Taylor Swift concert in Denver (as a concert goer, not performing) and people went nuts when he walked out from the backstage area. I had to ask these younger girls by me who he was. My old ass had no clue who he was until I heard his song with Post Malone! haha
I *think* he pretty much exploded over night. One local radio station jokes how his name was literally written wrong on a marquee a couple of years ago because they didn't know who he was (although shame on the venue), and now he's selling out shows a full year in advance. One of DH's co-workers got tickets a long time ago (for cheap), and said he's tempted to sell them for a huge profit, but figures he'll never see this guy again. Meanwhile I'm like you that I have to look up his music because I'm like "Noah who?", lol
Also, I just talked to my lawyer and STBXHs lawyer is not responding to him regarding settlement and he's followed up several times, all of which cost me money. At this point, we are scheduled for a hearing in front of the judge on 10/17 and if we don't have an agreement, the judge may just issue a ruling. Anyway, I found out that the max weight on the Peloton is 297lbs and STBXH is sitting at around 325lbs, so I took the Peloton off of the table. Eff that. I'm keeping it. He doesn't get $$$ and my Peloton.
If a coworker calls you 4 times in a row and doesn’t leave a message, then messages you that they need to talk, is it too much to ask for a topic area? I got back “something important.” Ok… please… I need to put myself in the right headspace for this. Tried again, got nothing. And now my stomach is in knots over it. Just please, one word that clues me in. In that my importance or yours?
rubytue, not too much at all! I'd assume it's a personal topic (if you have that type of relationship) and assume their importance.
Yup, their importance. It’s likely something they aren’t prepared to talk about at all until they’re in that safe space, and you’re a safe place.
Unfortunately, I do this to my boss sometimes, but she’s learned by now if I need to discuss her/her actions, I’d say so. I think your coworker probably sees you as someone that has a great deal of trust and respect for you. Not enough to tell you what they want to discuss though… hahaha

This would drive me crazy as well! Give me a topic so I can be prepared. If you can't give me a general idea, I am not wasting my time talking to you.
There is someone in our UK office who has just blindly called me multiple times. I will not answer unless she IMs me first with a general topic. I'm a developer, the odds that I can help her are very, very low. I don't know why she latched on to ME personally. I don't know if this is a cultural difference between the US and the UK, but I would never blindly call a coworker unless it was an absolute emergency.

My car has a flat. DH borrowed it yesterday, and started driving home. I picked him up, and called for service today and they have to tow it because there’s no spare!! So I’m calling places to see if I can borrow a spare. Lol poor DH is going to have to deal with it all because I now have no car.
Also, so far I’ve lost 99 pounds!!
Today I’m tackling the linen closet. If it wasn’t raining, I’d be tempted to burn half of what we own. I’m glad my hoarder H isn’t home while I purge. Unfortunately, see previous mentioned car issue, I can’t just take it to goodwill. Lol
Our Costco has mini caramel apple cakes (same size as their giant muffins) for fall, and they're SO GOOD, especially the frosting. I'm eating half of one for breakfast because I'm a grownup and what's even the point if I can't eat cake whenever I want?
This is dangerous for me to know! I saw them advertised and they looked good. I may have to go there sometime soon and give them a try. I'm not sure that's something my H will like so... more for me?

Yeah, I use to do it to my boss. I had a boss that trained me out of it, a couple times she said she was too busy and to try back in a few hours. And I usually calmed down by then. Also, learned from it and always try to come up with at least one word.
I also admit I did this for the coworker when they started a couple years ago. So I set myself up, but after a few months, I started asking for a topic because it was like an hour of therapy every call. And so, I need to make sure I have an hour available before I answer. And, well… umm… I don’t want to be a therapist.

Other seasonal cakes we've gotten there have frozen really well- I put them in a food storage container upside down so on the lid with the container on top so the frosting doesn't get messed up and it's easier to get out.

rubytue, I think a fair compromise is a VM or IM or email or some form of communication "Hey Ruby I need to chat with you for x amount of time, it's urgent, or not urgent. Thanks <Name>". That way they're not disclosing if it's personal on either end, but give you an idea of how quickly you need to call back. Of course what they feel is soo urgent, might be able to wait for a few hours. Hope whatever it is goes fast, and isn't bad.
I used to do that with a boss "hey boss I need to chat with you before end of the day (insert a general idea of the topic), it's not urgent" if say I needed to take ETO the next day, or bring up a concern that wasn't a live person or live call. My boss would often respond when it was a good time to chat, or would say "don't really have time today, can you give me a general idea of what's going on?" Again I think those are fair compromises, and helps the other person start to learn what is a true emergency vs. I need 10 mins before you leave.

Dog is in the official name for several breeds. Australian Cattle Dog and American Eskimo Dog (also German) are others. In writing this I realize that the American Eskimo Dog seriously needs to be changed because it has a weird backstory. There are no Eskies in Alaska and they don't have a specific history with indigenous peoples. They were called German Spitz (there are also Japanese, Danish and Italian Spitz) until World War II and then anti-German sentiment caused a PR problem for the breed. They really should go back to being German Spitz or just Spitz.
Random knowledge brought to you by that time I thought showing dogs would be a fun hobby. (It is not.)

How do I get a cashiers check to close on my house if I don't have a local bank? I don't think a bank will take my paper check and give me a cashier check, or am I wrong? God I hate adulting. Also I can't figure out how to set up water and trash because it doesn't go through the city and the city just kinda shrugged when I called them.

For the trash and water, can you have your realtor get the info from the buyers?
We have to set up our own trash but there is a list of approved vendors on the municipality website, so maybe you could also look there.
No help on the cashier's check, sorry. Maybe call your bank and ask if they have a suggestion?

For what it’s worth, the last time I bought a house (2021) the closing company would only take a wire transfer. I was planning out where to get my cashiers check, when they told me they won’t take a cashiers check. So maybe check if there is a wiring option?
also, out closing firm handled water with the county. But that’s not a sure thing, my house in VA did not. And I got a quarterly water bill 3 months later. Oh it was drama because I called the county and had service cut off asap, and then told the real estate agents to let the buyer know. And they came back and guilted me that I was cutting off water to their client, WHO WAS NOT PAYING WATER AND SEWER FOR THREE MONTHS. Maybe, as her agent, you should have thought to remind her. There is zero rational for this being my fault.

I just bought my house in August and my closing lawyer had me do a wire transfer. I was super nervous to wire, but I confirmed the info in the email with my lawyer over the phone. I would check with the closing attorney and see if you can wire. Could you try asking your nonlocal bank if they could overnight you a cashier's check?
My city doesn't have trash, so you just pick a local trash hauler and confirm they service you address, you can pick any company that does trash pickup, or you get a dump sticker and take your own. My water and sewer automatically transfer with the deed, so I'm not sue on that, but I bet your realtor can give you the info.

It feels like it should be Thursday, maybe because I want it to be Thursday.
DD had a cold starting on Sept. 10, and it seemed like it was getting better, but then last evening she said her throat was hurting again and she sounded more congested. No fever and she said she was generally feeling ok, but she wanted to stay home. It's a half day today, and because she doesn't have a fever and is generally feeling ok, I made her go to school and told her she needs to rest when she gets home. Hopefully she can kick it soon, whatever "it" is.

Or the Australian Shepherd, which has no origin in Australia. The mini version has been renamed to Miniature American Shepherd, but the larger version is still called the Australian Shepherd. Not confusing at all.
followyourarrow definitely need a local bank for a cashiers check. Wire is a good option, but in my experience it will cost you about $50 to do a wire transfer. I do most of my banking online, but have an account with a local bank just for those rare occasions when I need cash or a cashiers check.

Great idea! I'll definitely have to do that, thanks! I've frozen their muffins in the past but wasn't sure how well it would work with something frosted.
