My 11 year old's school nurse just called. Apparently some kid found a bee nest and decided to shake it. 10 students got stung, mine included. He's fine but that just pisses me off. What if the other kids are allergic? That could be a serious situation.
H took off today and is working on some house projects/small repairs with his dad. I'm so happy to see some of these things that have needed done for so long, get done.
My aunt who lives out of state is renting a farmhouse for the month in her hometown about an hour from us, so we're meeting her and other family and my parents there tonight for dinner. It's on a sheep farm, so that should be fun for DS to check out and run around before it gets dark. There will also be another 7 year old girl there for him to play with (my cousin's kid) so hopefully they get along and my only child leaves us alone to drink a beer and chat with family, lol.
We have nothing going on tomorrow. We're long overdue to go through DS's toys and reorganize everything/sell stuff, so maybe I can convince them to help me with that tomorrow. Sunday is our annual big seafood boil at a friend's house. I'm excited to house some crab legs and clams.

I haven't read all the posts yet, but the wifi password suggestions gave me a true LOL.
I sat in my car and cried when I got home from an errand last night, and it felt good. I later watched 5 mins of the new Lego Master and lost it with all the kittens. My poor remaining cat just looked like "you good bruh?"
One of our nieces is moving this weekend so I'm trying to muster the energy to go help. She lives 1.5 hours away so it's going to be a long day. DH was supposed to help move last weekend but she got sick. Thankfully BIL (niece's dad) is being nice about DH (us) only going for a couple of hours, but like you moved the date (for good reason), we can't hold every weekend to move.
All of these wedding threads have me wanting to watch our wedding DVD, but I'm afraid I'll ugly cry as we've lost a few folks since then, and it'll be hard to watch my dad walking so strong. I should wait until DH isn't home, but we'll see.
I've schedule the flu and Covid shots next week, for myself and my mother. It's funny how my little 91-year-old mother never seems to feel the effects, while I know the next day will be rough for me.
My mom, too.
She sees it as a sign of her superiority. She doesn't understand it's because her immune system is worn out and can't muster as robust a response as a younger person can.
I've had zero reaction to any of the Covid shots I've had. I have a healthy immune system but it just doesn't seem to respond to this shot. Probably why I've had Covid twice, though once was before the vaccine was available.
I'm proud of myself for having zero alcohol this week. I've started using an app for "mindful drinking" where I track every day what I did or didn't have, it sends me encouraging texts etc. I'm trialing it for 15 days for free. I don't know why, but something about being accountable to something seems to help me stay on track. I definitely can't try and trick myself into thinking that weeknight drinking doesn't drag me down, because I have so much energy and have worked out every morning this week without hesitation. This weekend we'll be away at a soccer tournament and while I've given myself permission to drink this weekend in my plan, I'm glad that I'll be out of the routine of sitting on my couch watching TV while I do it because that is my habit. A couple of drinks with dinner is enough.

I flew to the east coast for a work project. I got in so late last night and hotel checkout was 11, so I was in my room for less than 10 hours. Project went well though so yay!
Now off to enjoy a long kid free lunch and head back to the airport.

I've never had any reaction to a covid shot. But I scheduled my booster for Sunday so I can call off on Monday if necessary! I don't think I've had covid either so who knows.

I've got my flu shot next week. Debated the COVID booster at the same time for enough time to sink in before vacation, but I don't have sick time and not enough ETO to take the next day off if necessary. I might try the COVID booster on a Friday if I can find one that aligns.
starburst604, don't want to quote in case you want to delete. My friend does dry January for most of the month. She uses an app (have to ask what it's called, lol) keeping her on track. It's eye opening to see the money saved, never mind how much energy she says she has and/or changes to her weight if she's also working out and eating well.
y'all know you can call in sick whenever you want, right? lol
Trust me I hate "wasting my" (weekend) time for anything medical, but I don't get sick time anymore so if I'm out for fun, or I'm out sick (minus COVID, we get a small bucket of time for that) I have to use PTO, and I don't have enough saved to justify 8 hours of sick time right now if it can be avoided. My compromise is getting the flu shot administered within 2 hours of the end of shift so that I can leave without using PTO. Hoping any (potential) side effects will wear off by the next morning, or I won't feel *that* bad to sit at my desk at home and work, even half work that day.
*Knock on wood* I've also been pretty lucky that I haven't had too bad of a reaction, or pre-planned to use PTO the next day in case of reaction because others had set that tone. I miss when a lot of places gave you "free" time off to get the COVID shot, but those days are long gone.
Also, does anyone know if you have to wait to get the COVID booster if you get the flu shot separate? I remember them asking if I had anything within a certain amount of time when I got the original shots, but that was a while back.
rubytue, donutsmakemegonuts, The problem is that he's been known in the past to hide these cameras to spy on me and my kids. Now that I don't have access anymore, he could have them hidden anywhere to watch me. I already know that he watches my comings and goings on the Ring Doorbell, but this is a whole new level now that he has these cameras in my house somewhere. I'll get a new camera and set up a new account so I can watch my dogs, but I'm worried about what he may be watching now. I guess I need to start searching and see if I can find them, he claims that he threw them out.
Can you take them off the wifi and change the wifi password? I know I can go into my app and disconnect devices from the network.

Or reset the network altogether?
I've been trying to figure this out all morning and I think that I need to connect a laptop directly to my router to do this, and I'm worried about doing it with his laptop and I'm not sure if it will work with my work laptop, but I'm going to see if I can find an ethernet cable after work. I tried to access the site I need from both my phone and computer via wifi but can't get it to work. If I can't figure it out after that I might just need to contact my provider and get a whole new router and remove the plate that has the connection information printed on it.

David's teacher called me to come pick him up from his field trip. She said he'd had a pee accident, and while I believe that's what she thought- he didn't. It was just water. But I didn't want to confirm in the middle of the pumpkin patch so we went home. Joe only took like a 10 minute nap. And my therapist wasn't feeling well and asked to reschedule.
What do you all do with all the thoughts and worries swirling in your head? I'm at a breaking point here. And I need to get it all out, but I don't really want to write it all down where someone could find it. Like, I can think of six headings off the top of my head that are stressing me the fuck out. Anyone up for a trauma dump email?

Ikea and I are having a disagreement. I'm trying to DIY "built in" bookcases and they say everything is in stock, but then when I try to check out it's not and they say they can't ship certain pieces. I can get something similar from Target, but it's $600 more and I'm cheap!
I got pest control and termite prevention set up this morning. Goodbye money. At the moment home ownership is expensive and a lot of work. Why did I think this was a good idea??

ProfessorArtNerd, I struggle with constant worry/swirling thoughts/rumination. I do find journaling to be the best way to sort them all out, but if you're worried about someone finding it could you maybe type it on the computer and password protect it? It's not as helpful as writing, to me, but it's better than letting the thoughts build.
I also go for long drives and blast music while I try to sort things out. But I know that's probably not easy to do in your current life, but just another idea if/when you can take advantage.

@litskispecialty is it Sunnyside that she uses? It tracks that stuff for me as well.
DD had a bday party after school today, which was a half day. Brilliant idea to have it then, when most kids don't have any activities scheduled. It was mostly kids from her old school and when we walked in, a few of them jumped up and hugged her and said how much they miss her. It was so cute.

Ugh, my treadmill that I had previously used basically daily that has been broken since late July finally has the part in to fix it, and the guy was supposed to come this afternoon, and he just texted to reschedule for sometime next week, and I'm so bummed. I was cautiously looking forward to today all week because of this and had basically cleared my schedule to be here all day so he could show up whenever and take as long as it needed because I just want my treadmill back dammit!

I want to cry right now. DS had his IVIG on Tuesday and the NP came in and asked if we were aware that he has been losing weight. We had noticed he had thinned out, but didn't realize it was almost 8lbs since May and 2.8lbs in the last four weeks. I made an appointment today with his pediatrician for 10:45. At 11:55 we were still sitting in the room and we could hear the people who had come in after us leaving so I asked how much longer it would be. I was told there was one patient in front of him so I said I understood that but his appointment was over an hour ago. The doctor came in and examined him for literally two minutes (even DS made a comment) and gave us a lab order. Got to the lab which was packed, so we checked in and waited. It was finally our turn and the woman ran the insurance against the order and the insurance company denied a bunch of the requested test because the reason (weight loss) by the doctor was insufficient so it was going to over 2K out of pocket. They covered WBC and AC1 so we did those and I told the woman at the lab for the metabolic, celiac and SED I would follow up with his GI.

On a much happier note, DS is doing so well! I got his OT reevaluation back and he's made huge strides the past several months. I just got off a call with his teacher and he's doing great in class. I've been so worried, but underestimated my boy and I'm so proud of him.
@sameoldstory, you should be able to connect to your router from anywhere to change the password. You'd only need to connect w/a cable if you forgot the password. It sounds like he's abusive, I hope that you are able to get an order of protection and kick him out of the house.
I have family in town and more coming over tonight and tomorrow and I woke up feeling crummy. It's so annoying having to wear a mask in my house and host a million people but I love them so I guess it's worth it. I just kind of wish that some people would get hotel rooms. I also wish it didn't rain every weekend.
There are some fun Navaratri activities I'm looking forward to this weekend.
y'all know you can call in sick whenever you want, right? lol
My comment was more of a joke as I have unlimited PTO that I can request as late as the day prior. So I'm taking off all the time I want as PTO.
But if this booster is going to make me feel unwell, I don't want to be sick over the weekend, I'd rather have that be on a Monday.
I have enough time available and a boss who wouldn't blink if I took a mental health day, but I have been so busy that I feel like I want a "real" reason. That's on me, I know it. Usually by this time of year, I've taken a couple of mental health days, but this year has been busy with stuff I generally like working on.

ProfessorArtNerd type it all in a Google doc so you can have it with you on your phone and add to it when additional thoughts come up and in that way get them somewhat out of your head immediately?
I am happy to report that I figured out how to change the WiFi password. I also created a Guest WiFi account so that on the weekends when his kids are here I can turn it on for them and I guess by default, him, so that I don't feel guilty, and can then shut it off the rest of the time, because eff him.

If you participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project, what are you giving out this year? Sounds like I'll get some trick or treaters at my house and I want to have something for the kids that can't have food items.
@sameoldstory, if I were you, I'd tell YH's kids that you need to input the new wifi password on their devices yourself. That way there is no risk they can share it with their dad, but you don't have to deal with remembering to turn the guest network on and off.
