Pilsy - I can relate! I had my bloodwork done and my triglycerides are borderline high. I wasn’t fasted, so not sure if that would have made a difference. My doctor told me to cut back on rice and sugar and will re-test in 6 months. I am also disappointed - I am already very active (ran a marathon this weekend!) and don’t eat rice. I feel like I hit 40 and fell apart 🤣
Rice? What a weird thing for him to focus in on. LOL
I hear you though. I'm at 38, but I've been having weird ailments that make me feel like a hot mess.
I'm on week 2 of no weekday drinking and so far so good. It's amazing how much better I feel, even despite this stupid cold.
I started this after labor day and same! I was a daily drinker prior and I'm surprised how easily I've adjusted at this point (first week or two was hard). I feel so much better, have lost 7lbs, and am saving $$.
followyourarrow, I'd paint the bathroom myself after the work is done. Pro tip for bathroom painting - use cling wrap to protect things like towel bars and the toilet tank from getting paint on them.

scm1011 I'm hoping some weight comes off too. I definitely feel less bloated. I have to say that when I did drink this past weekend, I felt like absolute shit the next day. Granted, it was more than I usually drink because we were out with other soccer tourney parents but ugh, I hope this will just steer me toward overall minimal drinking, even on weekends.
My Dh had a conference to go to this morning so he woke up at 4:30. He makes so much fricking noise. Then I went down stairs at 5:45 and my DS is watching cartoons. I asked why he was up and he said loud noise woke him up. I had to refrain from texting H to yell at him.
Also, this is sort of a rant that I won’t go into great detail about but why can’t people take NO for an answer. I don’t need to provide a reason or come up with an excuse. The answer is NO. And the more you push and continue to ask, the more I’m going to get pissed and probably blow up which you deserve.

I'm with you on this. I've started responding back with "I've answered your question" or "asked and answered" or "No is a complete sentence" because I'm over it with some people!
starburst604, my plan was to keep it up until Thanksgiving and then give myself some grace for the holiday season, but its been working out so well I may just keep it up indefinitely. Good luck to you! I think in our area drinking culture is heavily engrained so it can be tough to change the habit.

It's totally engrained in our area/social circle too, and I'd also like to just keep it up permanently. For the holidays, if I go to a holiday party that falls on a weeknight I'll have a glass of wine or two and be ok with that. What I needed to stop was the pouring myself a drink immediately after dinner every night and then drinking solo in front of the TV until bedtime. I need to get back to being a SOCIAL drinker lol, I was becoming an anti-social drinker!

DD and I got our COVID/Flu shots. I'm feeling fine. DD is home sick, no school. Poor thing, she has yet to get COVID. I got it back in December.
Work is picking up some. Yesterday, I took an online training about the art of assertiveness and it really was an eye opener. Made me reflect how I was in my last position and can identify some aggressive manipulations my supervisors used on me and how I should have responded. Basically, I'm not assertive and so that's something I really need to work on. THANKFULLY, my current team is super nice and respectful. I have time to practice if it were to ever change.

Good for you. I started again after a few weeks where I went back to daily drinking, it's hard. I find that having a different routine at night helps, so now, I take two melatonin gummies and listen to a book to fall asleep. I think for me the hardest thing is when an incident stresses me out and I justify "cheating" just this once, and it spirals back to daily and I reset again. For me, I try not to make myself feel like a failure and allow myself to reset. We're human. It's hard. You got this!
Something weird about buying clothes for my rapidly growing 12YO is that whatever I put in my cart, I think, will I wear this when he inevitably grows out of it in a matter of weeks? He's in a men's small, and I fit pretty nicely in most of his clothes at the moment lol. He already passed me up on shoes but I kept his winter boots and a pair of boat shoes he basically never wore.

silva I can relate to that spiral especially when it comes to eating. I also try to have a different routine in the evenings now too. I just stay busy and find a project to do, or read instead of watching TV.
I'm so stressed and upset. I've shared a few times that DH and I are just struggling financially. we both got second jobs and are hanging in there.
Apparently, DH forgot to inform me he has a minor accident last June. He bumped into my SILs friends vehicle leaving a birthday party.
So now I get notified by our insurance agent that pur carrier we have had for 17 years is dropping us in January. This is DHs 2nd accident and I have 1 as well.
DH first one was due to snow and he slid into a guardrail in 2019 (bent frame and totaled car). Mine was 2 Christmas's ago, I was backing up and bumped an (illegal parked) car. It was dark and I just didn't see how close I was. I'm still kicking myself over that one.
With DS1 only 17 and a newish driver (it'll be a year in January), we already pay $5600 a year. I'm honestly scared to see what our new rate will be.
Is it possible that we won't find a company to cover us?
I told DH we can use or tax refund to put on policy so its not such a large monthly installment bit damn...can I just get a fucking break already?

I live in a small city. There has been road construction in the downtown area since May, and because of the size of the downtown area, a few road closures has a big impact on traffic. Today they are finally doing the last paving work, but it seems like city employees are not talking to school employees, because it is an early dismissal day, but the city said that paving work by the school entrance would not start until after normal dismissal time. (Like they were all proud of themselves for being so accommodating.) DS needs to get dropped off back at school to get on the bus to go to his away football game, right in the middle of when they will be paving, so thankfully there is another entrance to the school we can use. I just think the whole project has been ridiculous with the timing - they started work in mid-July, when the city (and school admin, for that matter) should have insisted on starting work the day after the last day of school in early June.
tacokick, ooo. Where do you go, what do you get? We generally go out to Lariland, but on a weekday for our anniversary. But this year, anniversary falls on a Sunday and H can’t take time off yet from his new job. Can’t decide if we will go for staymens.
dreamcrisp1 the breathing and not drinking would scare me too. I hope you guys can get some treatment today so that your sweet baby feels a bit better.
I called our doctor and they checked him out. And sent us to the emergency to see the pediatrician who admitted him. His oxygen was only 90% and breathing was still so fast. They’re monitoring him and seeing if he needs oxygen treatments. We will also see how he eats and if it is still not great, they will give him a feeding tube. 😢 I just want him to be healthy and to be home with him. 🥺 He is 4 weeks old today.

Ohhhh that is all so much. I'm glad he's in good hands where they can make sure he's staying hydrated and can react instantly if needed. I will be thinking of you guys and hoping that he's better and can go home soon.
Homecoming is this weekend. DS is going, and he has a girlfriend, but I guess they are the only people in their respective circles that are dating so they aren't getting together before the dance for pictures or anything, and it sounds like they are just going to meet there. Which I find weird, but I'm also OK with them doing their own thing because they are only 15 and it doesn't need to be that serious. I just wanted to know if I should help him order flowers for her, but if they are going to the dance separately and just meeting up, I guess not?

I am going to apply for another job. The pay is $12-22 more per hour, and I’d only work 36 hrs per week. It’s a move from higher Ed to private practice, and it’s just financially a good move for us. But I’m sad. Not sad enough to not apply, but still sad. :/
dreamcrisp1, Oh no! I am glad you brought him in and hope that they can get him feeling better soon. That must be so scary for you! Please keep us updated on his progress.
I get facials and haircuts at the same salon. For some reason, I always seem to forget when my appointments are. They send a reminder text, which is very helpful, but it doesn't specify which type of service the appointment is for. So, I think I have a facial tonight but maybe a haircut? I'm pretty sure my last haircut was the beginning of August and I usually try to go about 12 weeks so I wouldn't be due yet. But last time I showed up thinking I had a facial for the same reason, it was a haircut. So... I guess I'll see when I get there!
These next 2 weeks are going to be absolutely nuts with work, adjunct job, and the class I'm taking. Then I'm done teaching until March and two of the four things for my class will be done. I also have a big project that I've been working on for months that launches tomorrow. Oh and my friend arrives for the weekend tomorrow night and doesn't leave until Monday. WTF have I done? Lol. I need to learn how to not just say "yes" to everything without considering what else is going on. Like yes I do want to do everything I agree to, but I can't do it all at once!

Stayman winesaps are my goal!
Weber’s is closer to us so I went there today and they didn’t have any! The website said they had them so I was surprised. I should have called and double checked. KP Huber’s used to be my go-to but they closed the end of September.
I’ve done Larriland before but it’s a good hour from here. We have an event in Frederick later in the month so I wasn’t too excited about making the drive twice in a couple weeks. I don’t know if they’d still have any then. I feel like they are getting harder to find now that varieties like honeycrisp have become “famous”. I think places switched growing to bigger sellers.
Mrsu out till 5am on a random Tuesday? Was there an occasion? I’m annoyed alongside you (because wtf) but also a tiny bit impressed at his stamina because I’d be curled up in a corner by 10:30pm.
He's in pain even right now. LOL. He went out with his team and also a group that is trying to get a contract from his team. They ended up in karaoke. He's always been a night owl but this is way more than I'd be able. I'm tired by 11pm!
Our internet provider keeps having outages. I don't know what they're doing. DH just texted that he has no internet and can't work. I told him to go to my parents, they have a different provider.
I have a new employee who came from Space Force. He is not impressed with our stuff and I'm like "where do you think they got the money for space force? They took from all the other DOD agencies." DUDE.

Lariland had rows of staymens. Like a whole hill. Staymens are a late October apple, usually hitting prime the 3rd or last week. I may have been around and around about this a few times. 😂 And prime season usually coincides with our anniversary.
edit: further support you are a week early, Lariland doesn’t have them listed as available yet. Winecrisp, yes. Winesap, no.
