No one in my immediate family has had it as far as I know. We were vaccinated and boosted. My kids got their booster again about a month ago. I still need to get mine. DH says he doesn't want to get boosted again unless it gets really bad again.
We never tested positive (home and Dr administered tests), but H and I were both really sick with something last spring. We're vaccinated and boosted, but I really need to schedule appointments to get this year's boosters and flu shots. It's so hard to work with H's schedule 😕
I am still COVID free as of today. I do not understand how this virus works, since DS has been ALL up in my face.
I think it's sort of like any other virus in that some get it, some don't, and some my carry it, but don't know.
E used to be a strep carrier, which wasn't something I was even familiar with until DH and I were getting strep 2-3x a year and finally during an ENT consult she told me to get my kid tested and even my dog if the kid wasn't positive (who knew?), before going the surgery route. Turned out that E was carrying it from daycare/school to us. She would test positive on a culture, but not rapid.
One of the good things from COVID was with all the staying home and masking, it seems for now, she's not bringing it home anymore.

*My one anecdote about viruses, LOL.
Actual Strep throat is a bacterial infection and not viral

No one in my family has had it that we know of, which is crazy since DD is in preschool and DS is in elementary school and both get sick every couple months. I had a really bad cold that gave me a sinus infection about 18 months ago and I was sure I had it. But I tested at least 3 or 4 times and never came up positive. I credit 5 years of taking the bus and metro to work for giving me a robust immune system.
I have had it twice. I got it the first time in March 2020, but didn't know I had it. I was very tired and lost my sense of taste and smell. It came out a few months later that that was a symptom, so I went to the doc and was tested for antibodies (which I had)
The second time was last year, May, we had to test prior to leaving Italy. Both me and my hubs tested positive- no symptoms and we had been vaxxed and boosted. The doc at the pharmacy where we were getting tested asked us a few followup questions about symptoms and we answered NO to all of them so he kind of threw up his hands in the air and goes "Ok, negativo!" So we where able to fly home.
Had it once this spring, which was a damn miracle because my job forced me to be in close contact with a bunch of people who do not believe in masks or vaccinations. I truly thought my husband was immune, but he finally succumbed about six weeks ago. Both of us are as boosted as can be, and our cases were luckily mild. Still, it was, a serious illness that took us out for several days.

Welp, I tested positive today. We had a good run.
Me too…. I felt like I was coming down with a cold yesterday. I tested right when I was about to leave for work this morning . I actually left and came back because I forgot I had taken the test. And there it was so dark the two lines.
DH has never had it. I got it while on the cruise earlier this year, and TBH the only reason why I tested was I felt punky for about 24 hours. I didn’t cough or have a fever. I was chilled and tired. I was quarantined to our cabin for 5 days, but DH could continue to go and do as long as he tested negative. He tested negative every time. He never got it.

DH, me, and our youngest (15) have all had it twice. My oldest (18) has not had it.
My oldest had a coronavirus in January of 2019 (this was pre-covid times) and the only reason we knew he had it was because they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him and they swabbed him for like 50 known viruses. He was pretty sick and ended up in the hospital. I have always wondered if that coronavirus built up antibodies for him with covid, but who knows.
H got it for the first time in January 2021. He caught it at work. Vaccines were not available at that time. He was in a lot of pain, had to go to the ER to rule out a blood clot in his lungs, and was pretty much out of commission for 3 weeks. He isolated from the rest of us and no one else in the home caught it then.
We all got it in July 2022 from an outdoor party we attended. We were all vaccinated by that point. DD1 and I had mild symptoms. DD2 and H were asymptomatic.
Kid #1 has not had it (that we know of), Kid #2 and I have had it once, and my husband has had it four times. Interestingly enough no one got it from him any of those times-kid #2 brought it home from the sitter's this time last year and shared the love with her parents (but not her big brother), and the other three times he brought it home from work but no one else got it.
Socially distanced hugs. I saw your other post and I think for the most part people are so used to people having COVID right now, they've lost the common sense that should make them realize you need a hand. I hope you are on the upswing now. I'm on Day 4 (counting the day I tested positive as 0) and am a lot sicker than I anticipated.
Sending more socially distanced hugs, sparkythelawyer and circa1978. We're mostly recovered (Day 6-8 for everyone in our family of four) with minor congestion/cough/fatigue for the adults. And I'm really glad the adults got Paxlovid because it made a big difference.
