Off work today. Kids are at their grandma’s so I can do homework. I do…. Not want to do homework. I wrote one paper and then can’t seem to get started on the next one. Hallmark Christmas movies seem like a way better use of my time!
I'm done with work until Tuesday! Just waiting for H to get done and pick me up to go to lunch. Their students got dismissed at 12. In the past he's always been late getting out because of some emergency he'd have to deal with as principal, but he's the curriculum director now, so IDK what he's still doing there lol. It's not like there's an emergency with math or something. Anyway, I'm very ready for a sandwich and a beer. Tonight, we'll just stay in and I will finish baking and packing for DE where we go every year. We'll leave tomorrow after getting up and showering, but we don't need to leave too early or anything thankfully.

I wish my org would officially tell us we can shut down early. However, I plan to shut down in about an hour or so to go run my errands and then "monitor my email" from my phone while reading my book and day drinking on the couch. I have been so busy trying to keep up with my own work, on boarding new people, transitioning work, etc, that I just can't today. I am at my limit so unless a real fire erupts, I'm taking advantage of WFH today, ha.

DS has been starving the last two days so I am thinking he is gearing up for a growth spurt. On top of the hangry mood he's nervous about hockey tryouts next week he is in a mood today and I suspect it's going to be a long weekend with him.

Oh man, I just drew the second hardest person (for me) to buy for in the IL Secret Santa. Our 20 year old nephew. He's super smart, plays soccer at an engineering school. I have no idea what to buy him within a $75 limit. The only person worse to buy for is his dad who has zero hobbies and is generally cranky all the time lol

Is he a big fan of any sports teams? That's usually my go-to for young men - a hoodie, ball cap, whatever.
It occurred to me this morning that many of us are going to go through menopause at the same time, and I wonder if the board will get as cranky/spicy as when we were younger for a while. Could make things more interesting 😂

We are on vacation in California and I forgot DS' ADHD meds.
So walgreens won't transfer the prescription DESPITE new rules that went into place in August 2023 saying schedule II drugs can be transferred at patient request
Dr called in RX and pharmacy says they can't accept RX from an out of state Dr.
Urgent care is not permitted to prescribe that type of med.
So short of going to the ER I think we are out of luck
This is a dumb process. But I learned my lesson! Bah.

We got tickets to see the Phillies in London - two games - and my dad and step-mum are coming over to London from the States to see them with us. It'll be so much fun!
My FIL is in the hospital with double pneumonia. He’s been in iffy health since he nearly died 2.5 years ago. So that’s adding a layer of stress to the holiday.
I’m picking SD up from soccer and taking her to the dentist. Then hopefully chillin at home.

Took A back to the doctor today after a terrible night last night. He now has inhaled steroids twice a day for 10 days and doctor told him to just stay inside and rest. He heard this as he should stay inside and play video games all day.

I took this whole week off, and my girls are home with me today. I'm about to bake banana bread with them, and then I'm going to make my side dishes I'm bringing tomorrow.
This will be my first holiday without my kids - my XH gets them this year (I posted about how nasty he got with me when I wouldn't give in and spend it with him). The reality of it all hit me yesterday so I allowed myself to just relax and watched A Walk to Remember and had a REALLY good cry. One of my friends invited me to a fire pit at her house tomorrow evening, and my new guy sends his kids with his ex around 3:00 so I may potentially see him too. I'm really thankful that I have a couple really great friends who truly come through for me and have supported me through all this.

If there is a pro soccer team where he grew up or where he currently lives, buy something around that. Other than that, I'd buy a voucher for a food service near him.
It really hasn’t been very cold yet and it’s really throwing me that Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Our trees are still full of leaves.
We aren’t going anywhere and I get the impression my husband thinks he is doing all of the cooking tomorrow so hopefully it will be a relaxing day! For me lol
DD is off today and I'm trying to fit in a whole (WFH) day because I don't have enough PTO for all of these school days off! We fit in baking for tomorrow, multiple crafts, and a run to target all before lunch while I was doing some light work. H came home from the office at 1 to spend the rest of the day with her. I wish I could just take all of these days off instead of stressing about not missing too much work going into December when my kids are off for half the month!
I can't wait until tomorrow to spend the whole day with family and eat good food! My parents are coming here because they know how difficult it is for us to travel anywhere with 3 young kids (and 2 dogs), plus H loves to cook.
All 3 of us are home sick. It feels exactly like covid, but the dozen covid tests from several different boxes says it's not. DS was the worst this time, with a fever for 3.5 days. H and I just have chest congestion and sinus stuff.
I anticipate we'll all be home again tomorrow. I want to find a stream of the parade (would Youtube have it?) so DS can see what all the American hype is about. He's only ever seen clips of it because we're all at school/work.
Peacock is supposed to be streaming it if you have that.
While eating lunch, I watched a parking lot sales deal for a spinning wheel. The buyer proceeded to try to cram it into the front seat of their extended cab truck, and it wouldn't fit. Seller looked like they suggested that the buyer put it in the truck bed, and from the body language it looked liked buyer had forgotten they drove a functional truck. It was stowed away easily after that.
I tried to transfer my prescriptions from ducking CVS to Costco. CVS only let a couple go (or something). Well, I’m now out of one. And fuck… I am weighing costco the day before thanksgiving with my need for the med (progesterone). Pretty sure it can wait.

Patsy Baloney, did they do a double take or think they were seeing things? I think it's hilarious that you didn't tell them before hand!
No! They were totally chill and excited about it. I think maybe I needed to prep the cat more on the prank. She didn’t play along. She just ran right toward them and started meowing.
BEC distant coworker replied all to an email from my manager and the tone was just dripping with disdain/contempt (yes, I'm aware of my bias, but this is not the first time they have pulled shenanigans and tried to bs their way out of accountability).
So I pinged the Madeline Kahn "flames" gif over to my manager with no context. She'll know 😆 I hope it gives her a laugh. I spent a lot of time the past week collecting receipts from the last two years, and I feel pretty good right now because those receipts directly address and disprove the lies in this last email. Time we'll spent 😎
