We get on the boat today! Missing my kid and dog, but they’re having fun with my parents.
There is also a Disney cruise leaving today and all the little kids in our hotel are so cute! It’s pretty much all non-school age kids and they are decked out in Disney stuff and so excited.
I made a savory waffle for breakfast with Kodiak pancake/waffle mix, cottage cheese, a little cheddar, green onion, salt and pepper. Holy shit, it is good.
I have to take my car this afternoon for oil change/tire rotation and to have them try and diagnose the rattle in my dashboard which OF COURSE it stopped doing now lol. It was loud AF when I went to pick DS up yesterday, and then it stopped. Ugh. The car is an 06 Toyota Corolla, so I don't really care that much about making sure everything's perfect, just want to make sure nothing unsafe is going on.
I signed my son and myself up to wrap gifts with a local org that fills wishlists for area families. I went last night - and it's next week. LOL I stopped to get wrapping paper and tape on the way so at least we're ready for then!
My husband is going put for drinks with some coworkers after work. He never goes anywhere so I'm excited my son and I have the house to ourselves. I already told son we're both eating whatever we cab find and told DH not to come home hungry.

Life has been busy lately. I’m finding a new groove with being a full time student, employee, parent, and everything else I wear a hat for. I signed up to prepare taxes through VITA. Training starts on Saturday. I forgot how much I love numbers. I can’t wait to get back in my passion even if it’s only volunteering.
First light dusting of snow outside this morning. I woke up early and had a premonition about that even though the snow wasn't supposed to come until this afternoon/evening. Good thing I got boots out for DS and myself last night.

Day 1 of no sugar (because of RA) went fine, on to day 2. I looked longingly at some Reeses pb trees, but made it through. It's too soon to say if it's making a difference really, but I can say my hand didn't swell yesterday, it was just stiff.
I travel for work next week and my babysitter for the pets just cancelled on me. Thankfully FI just pulled into dock this morning and made an arrangement to be off next week. I didn't really think I'd need a backup plan, but I should have planned for one!
My dog needs a repeat poop test, but she refuses to poop in front of a human so this should be fun. I can't just walk the back yard either because I can't tell how old it is or which dog it came from.
I was off last Tuesday to this Tuesday, so yesterday was my first day back at work. And man is my brain not firing on all cylinders. Tonight we're supposed to be having a meal that required me to put meat in marinade last night; forgot to do that. I also forgot to bring my lunch today!
I made a doctor appointment for tomorrow afternoon because this “is it gas or appendicitis?” Pain has been nagging me for a week. Neither option seems to be true, gas seems unlikely to be the exact same spot for a *week* and also, gasX doesn’t help. Appendicitis would have escalated. Anyway… I decided to take a half day, because why not? So, I’m signing off at noon, my dog sitter/friend is coming over to discuss dog stuff.
I’ve had a reoccurring reminder on my calendar from my old position since I left it 22 months ago. Since I created it, and in involve other people, I couldn’t cancel it until the new person established new processes. And that was drama. But, I canceled it this morning. Woo!!
My DS's team made it to the finals of one of their tournaments yesterday!!! He is the baby of the team (our school goes up to 11 y.o. and he is 9) and they have worked so hard this term. They train 5 days a week and are so dedicated. Their coach is amazing, he is a great balance of super stern but also considerate and caring. We got knocked out in the semis of both tournaments last year. I am loving watching the group work together.
I am also thrilled as this year is the first time ever that we have a girl on our team. Soccer is very much a male-dominated sport here, so this is unusual. She is such a good member of the team, and the boys just treat her as one of them (while still making sure to give her girl space to get changed etc hahah) so that is nice to see.
My new job is going well. Everyone is nice, I have stuff to do, etc.
But, like, new technology is annoying and unnecessarily hard and I have to keep moving stuff around so I keep breaking nails. I am impatient to be finished with not knowing things and not knowing enough people.

We hired a babysitter for Saturday evening, but now indecision of what we should do! We were thinking of going to see the Malcolm X opera but it’s 4 hours long and I didn’t think I would want to sit there that long haha. Then, sushi making came up as an idea, but it’s $500 and don’t know if I want to spend that much.
We could of course do dinner and drinks but was trying to think of something different….

Either way, excited for adult date night
I’ve been trying to think of ways to get us out of the dinner and drinks rut. We have tickets to a Jim Gaffigan show in January and a stained glass making class in April (where we will also do dinner and stay in a hotel). I also want to go axe throwing.
Putting that out there in case it provides inspiration. 😊
We saw Jim Gaffigan and it was a great time out! We got tickets after that to see Brian Regan. Comedy is definitely a fun night out. I would like to do a mozzarella making class. Stained glass sounds fun! We have a glass blowing place not too far away, but they don't have evening hours.
My neighborhood social chair is organizing Christmas caroling. I'm considering doing it. I have never caroled or even SEEN a caroler except for in movies.
I will most likely chicken out and stay home because I don't know the neighbors participating and I am a hermit.

lol a couple weeks ago Dh asked ds “why do you think the brothers (uncommon famous former formula 1 driver name ) and (uncommon famous former formula 1 driver name) are named that?”
Ds - “because that’s what people call them”
After I had pointed out to DH (the HUGE F1 nerd) upon meeting the brothers that their parents must like F1. Dh was trying to prove that I was weird for saying/realizing that because he had never noticed. Ds made it even funnier.

I would have serious secondhand embarrassment if carolers showed up at my door. Although, I wouldn't even open the door because my two dogs would be very upset at the crowd of people in our yard...
Nutcracker kicks into high gear today for is with dress rehearsals and performances this weekend. It’s an entirely new production due to our old costumes/sets being essentially stolen. I am super excited to see everything come together but I’m also really tired and ready for a break. This is my former pre-pro ballet company that my dd currently dances for and the director is a very close friend so I’ve sewn costumes, chaired catering for over 1,000 for a fundraiser, helped with set pieces and been on more Starbucks runs than I can count. I’m really proud of everything we’ve accomplished.

Our neighbor does it and there is a list to get on if you want carolers at your door. I don’t know if that’s typical but that makes sense! I think you get a range of dates/times they might show up.

I got started with my new job's paperwork and getting onboarded. As of tomorrow, I'll be counting down the days until I leave here. It'll be bittersweet, but we had a conversation yesterday with my doctor's old MA and it seems as though she's interested in returning, so knowing my doctor will be very well taken care of is reassuring.
We are getting DS tested for learning disabilities, and for possible ADHD. I think it's a spectrum of issues (he's definitely got SPD which he sees OT for semi-regularly), but it's very apparent that he needs more intervention than that.
I also have to take both cars to the dealership for their oil changes and stuff and I just don't wanna.

I'm so glad it's Thursday, but I have a big meeting early Friday afternoon that I am prepping for. Most of the work is done and I am just cleaning up the presentation, but I also have some notes to write down, which is how I will be spending my afternoon.
Hard to believe tomorrow is December. I don't feel ready (still need to shop for some gifts and order Christmas cards) and feel like it will be Christmas in no time.

I'd do the sushi class. DH and I did a cooking class in the Midwest and it was $300. We ate at the class and got to bring home a bottle of wine and enough food for a couple more meals for us both. I bet you leave with food too wanderingback. It was entertaining and educational. Our chef shared lots of fun stories and we learned some things too. The others in the class were a fun group as well, made for a great evening all around. Any more to go to a show or concert you could pay that much or more.

Walked the dog and went to yoga and made egg salad but I went a little too crazy with the red onion and my stomach hurts a bit.
Now I need to get a shower and have a long day of clients. At least I get to use my new Dyson dryer (it dries my hair so fast and makes it so shiny, highly recommend) and I might pick myself up some Whole Foods sushi. I have never in my 49 years looked forward to drying my hair before, LOL
I'm trying to get tickets to Neil DeGrasse Tyson for David because he's a huge fan of his and it would make the perfect surprise Christmas gift, but the only city not showing up on his tour when I go to buy the tickets is the Dallas show. It's so weird, he posted all of the tour dates on Facebook but the Dallas show is nowhere to be found. Ugh!

No, there’s no bottle of wine to take home or anything like that, ha. It won’t take the whole time we have the babysitter, so then we’d prob go get drinks or something which would be at least another $100-$150. I def wasn’t anticipating spending at least $600 on Saturday! (Plus the babysitter at $28/hour). Will save that for another date night

Right. I wonder why it's the only show that tickets aren't available to buy? I keep refreshing hoping to see them but I can't find any info anywhere. The presale was yesterday and general sale starts today.
