Today is attempt #3 at getting the new oven installed...or at least attempt to get the installers to come! I really really miss having a functional oven! I'm very lucky that I have an extremely flexible job that allows me to WFH for nonsense like this!
My anxiety is completely out of control, to the point where I had to check my pill organizer last night to verify that I actually took my Lexapro that morning. Hopefully it calms down after some big work shit this week, but it's so unpleasant to go through life like this.
I'm bored. The trains are on strike so I've had one cancellation of the two appointments today. There are very few registration forms coming in (not surprising as term ends on the 15th). The person I usually do triaging with is also not able to come in, so no one to hang out with (we'd be chatting in each other's offices at this point). I ate lunch by myself though got to see someone who came in to get tea. I've done all my admin, read most of the things on this board that I'm interested in reading, looked at FB several times, etc. 3 more hours to go. Sigh.
We had a blink camera sitting around the house that we got free with some purchase. We set it up to monitor which dog keeps peeing on the bedroom floor.
It was exactly the one I suspected! The thing that bugs me the most is she did it at 8:15am. I put the dogs out right before I leave at 7:15am. If I have to start standing outside in the cold to make sure she actually pees I’m not going to be happy.
ETA: it’s not because it’s cold, she has been doing it for a couple month now. We just remembered we had the camera and set it up this week lol.

I need to get it into my head that we're leaving for England in 2 weeks and actually think of/buy presents for the little kids in the family! Plus I suddenly realized yesterday that I have to get presents for my dad and stepmom - we do secret Santa with FI's family, so I didn't have adults on my radar at all. Maybe brainstorming gift ideas can be my project for this weekend.

This is the part of the month where I'm pretty much done with buying/wrapping presents (still waiting for some to be delivered) and then I start analyzing if I have enough for everyone so I start spiraling and looking for more stuff. In reality, everything I have is fine and no more is needed, but my anxiety tells me otherwise lol.
I worry that DH won't have many presents to open, but we are at the stage in life where he would rather have one really nice thing over many "cheap" things, so I think it's ok. I don't know, my brain is weird.

I need an idea for small gifts for kids friends. We have kids coming over this weekend to decorate cookies and I’d like to give them a little something. They’re moving soon so I don’t want to add to clutter but since we’re decorating cookies, I don’t really want to give candy. I’m at a loss!
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

donutsmakemegonuts, I told H that instead of presents let’s just have a nice date night. We tend to buy whatever we want so it makes it difficult to get a great present. Lol.

Update to quitting sugar for my RA. I gave up sugar for 3 days, and my hand felt much better. On day 4 I had a piece of cake and my hand swelled up within 5 hours. I've cut way back on sugar now, having only my coffee creamer, and my hand feels much better. So, sugar definitely seems to be a factor. It sucks.
Yesterday the new school board was sworn in for our neighboring SD. It’s made national news bc it had previously been overtaken by Moms For Liberty who pretty much tried to turn it into Gillead. This past election Dems swept the seats and purged MFL, which is pretty remarkable bc it’s not a bluey blue area. The new members swore in on a stack of books the old SB had banned. Savage!

Yes, we are the same way. It's nice to have that financial freedom, but it makes gift giving harder lol.

I'm in a sleep deficit since DH and I didn't get home until nearly midnight from my company's Christmas party last night, but I diligently got my meds in my body soon after waking up with a large cup of coffee so I'm not a total wreck. I have to take this powdered probiotic mixed with warm water on an empty stomach and then wait 30 mins or so before I can eat/take the rest of my vitamins/have coffee so it sort of delays everything.
I've segmented my calendar and assigned tasks to each one to try and stay on track today. I will feel much better if I can just make progress on a few items that are hanging over my head.
Yesterday was SD’s 17th bday. She had a soccer game and scored her first goal! This is just her 2nd year playing and has been on the bench this season. She was sooo happy!
I hate that it is so difficult to buy things in stores now. I ordered boots, they arrived with defects and it’s taking forever for them to refund me the money and they insisted on charging me for shipping them back.
If I had been able to buy them in the store, I would have noticed the defect and left or got another pair. Instead I’m spending time arguing with the Dr Martens customer service person that I don’t want an exchange, I want my money back. Like I want to deal with a second pair of potentially defective boots! I don’t know how they were sent to me in that condition in the first place.
It’s going on a month of dealing with this now. And I still need boots.

That's my district! We were celebrating! Also swearing in on the banned books was epic.
I am wearing fleece lined leggings that I picked up at Costco a few weeks ago and I'm in love - so comfortable! And I think they look reasonably decent as work pants since the outer material is a bit nicer herringbone material.
I just realized that I have no plans for Christmas cards this year, so I guess I'm just not doing them. I really don't have time to deal with them in the next week and by then it's probably too late. I usually do enjoy them but I guess I'll see if I or anyone else misses them this year.
@ donutsmakemegonuts. That is me every year. I ran out and bought more St Nick stuff last night for this morning. My kids’ stockings were bursting.
@ leehamrimes, we are doing date night gifts this year too. There is a spa thing about an hour way with hot and cold pools and a bunch of sauna rooms. The interesting part is that the pool require you to be nude. I’m not sure how comfortable I feel, but he won’t mind it. I can skip the pools and go right to the saunas.
The cleaners are here, which means it was a bit crazy this morning getting everybody out of the house--but soon I will have a miraculously clean domicile!
I have been up late the past three nights with work stuff, but I'm making progress and not feeling too stressed about where I am. Which is great.
I feel so scatterbrained about Christmas presents. I've been ordering small things here and there but I really have no idea what all that I have for anybody, and I need to get my ass in gear and figure things out for people who need to have things shipped to them. I have a little bit of grace on my parents, because they are planning to come see us a few days after Christmas and we'll open gifts with them when they're here.
I have a bunch of errands to run today. I dropped by the post office this morning after getting the kids to school and they were out of holiday stamps, so I got a few random ones and just placed an order with USPS online for holiday stamps. They should get here in plenty of time to mail Christmas cards.
It's still the first week of December, why do I feel like I'm so behind?

Link to leggings please! (as I sit freezing in my office )

I'm here. I've got a good start on gifts, but totally spaced on my sister's family, which are of course the only ones I would need to ship. Haven't done anything with holiday cards yet, which we do very low-key but still need some time spent picking the photos/template, checking addresses, etc. We're hosting a friend gathering next weekend and need to figure out what food/drink I want to provide and get the kids to pick gifts for their secret santa. Oh, need to finish up teacher gifts so those are ready for next week too. IT'S ONLY DEC 6, why do I feel like this?!
We did at least finally decorate our tree Monday night, after buying it and setting it up Saturday morning.
Florida people, make sure you (and any FL voter you have influence on) signs the petition to put abortion rights on the ballot. They want their count by the end of the month, if possible- you can send multiple petitions (obviously, 1 per voter) in one envelope, it's easy-peasy (and I know there are lots of canvassers out, too). floridiansprotectingfreedom.com/petition/
A girl at DS's HS apparently had a container of mace in her backpack, because it expelled (accidentally) in her 5th period class. No one was hurt, but that kid has fucked up her entire life and I'm sad that she felt she needed that at school (or on her walk, whatever). DS had no idea until the principal called home, big schools are fun that way.
My daughter is heading to DC in less than a week for a 5 night school trip. She's so excited and I'm super excited FOR her- but I'm going to miss her so much! We have to get her to the bus at 3:30AM, so that's not awesome, LOL.

When my daughter went on her DC trip the buses left super early. They told us they would be super strict about leaving on time and that if you missed the bus, that was it. Some kid was dropped off just as the buses were getting out of the school driveway and they didn't stop for her.
I think it was due to the bus company policy, and the consequences were really clear for everyone, but my heart really broke for that poor girl
I made apple bars last week and froze them and they thawed beautifully and are delicious. Thanks to GBBO, I keep calling them a “tray bake” to make my H laugh.

I'm glad to hear other married couples are like this, we've never really been gift givers to each other and just end up buying things ourselves around our birthday and xmas. Part of me feels envious about it, that it's not normal. But I like the date night idea!
I DID get my husband a fire log carrier inspired by the ETSY commercial. LOL. We actually need one so I'm hoping he's surprised. I'm looking for an espresso and coffee maker for us as well. One that stores whole beans, not pods.

Aww, that is tough'poor kid! We were told the same thing, though- do not be late! We technically have a second chance because the bus picks up at a second school a little later, but its all the way across the county, so not ideal, ha. I'm a night owl so I can manage the drop off, H will just have to handle the dogs and HSer in the morning (which is fine because he is my opposite in that regard).
