Does anyone have a suggestion for a theme for a family gift exchange with about a dozen participants ranging from 75 to 15 or so? My cousin wants to do things you can buy at a gas station (?), and I nixed that, but now I have to come up with the theme, apparently.
Handmade things (to include artisan purchases) Treats from a local place (works better if y’all aren’t from the same area)
My gas leak is getting fixed tomorrow. There is a possibility they have to tear open the wall in the bedroom, so we had to move the bed, headboard, nightstands, etc. it’s all discombobulated now and I’m cranky. I can’t get into the closet, the rug is a trip hazard. Cranky cranky. I really hope they don’t have to open up the wall, because I don’t want to live like this for a week or more.
Jinkies, I agree but apparently we need a theme.🤷🏻♀️ We are all from the same area. The gas stations along my route are pretty much just candy, cigarettes and lottery tickets in a space about the size of a bedroom. I do not have the energy to track one down with interesting things. Plus, my mom and aunt are widows and I think they just want something nice that they'd like, not Cheetos or a funny T shirt. I love the idea of something from a local business.

Things that come in pairs. Things that start with letter “T” or whatever letter. A favorites thing exchange. I think this could be fun!

I'm late to the work/group gift giving thing. DH goes through this every year. Socially his boss is supposed to give the team a gift, and typically they're actually pretty useful. For the last few years the team members have started to show up with coffee gift cards or scratch tickets etc. without talking to one another. DH always feels like a jerk because he doesn't know, and therefore doesn't buy a gift. OTOH he also feels like it's just exchanging money, as most cards are $10 - 15 a piece. If you give those, then get one or two back, you got your same gift back. He just doesn't know how to politely say save the money and time without (other men) anyone getting hurt.
