The kids and I are off today. H has to work, but he works from home so, ehhhh. Lol
Both kids are at my parents, H has a therapy appointment today, and I’m just going to clean a bit and do some laundry. It’s cold and overcast so I might do some reading in bed too.
keyslover (hugs). Give yourself time to adjust and settle in with all the information you have now. I'm not sure if you're on FB. If you are I've found NeuroWild to be very helpful. She's an autistic mom to at least 2 autistic kids.
And like nancybotwin said, help your DD lean into her strengths. Then step back and be amazed at what she can learn & accomplish. If she has special interests I bet she'll flourish and thrive with things connected to those. Especially with a supportive mom by her side. <3
Feel free to PM me if you want to chat more. One mom of an autistic kid to another.

We’ve definitely had too much togetherness. I snapped at H over a small, but recurring, issue and now we’re both in a bad mood. I wanted to have a normal conversation about it, but it clearly didn’t go that way. He took off to the gym, he may or may not go to the grocery store on the way home, and we may or may not have dinner together tonight. It’s a little sad that I’m looking forward to my work trip in a couple days, simply because it’ll give me some alone time.
Another freeze another warning from ERCOT that we may not have enough power. Cool cool. I have seen this movie before and it resulted in a burst pipe. Can we not do this again? I swear Texas. Get it together.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed we are ok! Friends a few streets over lost power for a couple of hours last night but all we had were flickering lights 3 times. We have all the faucets dripping with both the hot and cold taps running for almost 48 hours now but so far the pipes seem ok. Hope you are too!
I am shocked that several of you in the US with desk jobs are working today! It's a national holiday to honor an important person in our history, everything should be closed!
My job just gave us MLK of about two years ago and took away Christmas Eve so they aren't actually giving more time off. I'm really mad at how they handled that.
We get the week between Christmas and New Year’s off, but then don’t get another holiday until Memorial Day.
I’m working today. Thankfully it’s my work from home day although I did have to go in for a meeting this morning.
We followed through on our plans to clean this morning. H took care of mopping and vacuuming so all the floors are clean. I tackled the bathrooms, including scrubbing all the yuck off the shower curtain liner. Not fun, but I'm proud of myself. I usually just buy a new liner, but I really am trying to consume less. It was an absolute pain to clean, but it looks like new 🤗 Now I just need to remember to wipe it down every now and then so it doesn't get so gross 😬
We watched the first episode of the latest True Detective while we ate lunch (we're both hooked), and now H is napping and I need a shower.

So far so good! Looks like another call for conservation tomorrow and then hopefully we warm back up.
We’ve had all the weather today. Rain, sleet, ice, and snow. The ice came much further south than anticipated. School has been canceled for tomorrow. Correct call. It’s an icy mess!

Living the dream lol 😆
When I used to have a liner, I would take it down when it got yucky and put in the the washing machine with a few towels and detergent. It came out like new!

We didn’t like the first season so we didn’t watch but was intrigued by an interview with the new show runner this year and watched. I’m looking forward to seeing more!

next time it needs a good scrub I'm definitely doing this. The only reason I didn't do it today is that H was already using the washer and I just wanted it done 🙂
We're almost home after a spur of the moment trip to Charleston. We were supposed to visit family in upstate New York. Initial forecasts were only for an inch, but got worse as we got closer and thank goodness the flights were all cancelled! End up being blizzard conditions, travel bans etc. Really proud that my inflexible ass came up with an alternate plan we all enjoyed.
The worst part of a weekend was all of us sharing a hotel room and me having to share a bed with DD. She is far too old to have so many stuffed animals!

yeah, we were kind of meh about watching it. The first season was extremely dark and then the following seasons didn't always hold our interest. I'm a big Jodie Foster fan, though, so I wanted to try it. Fortunately it seems to be grabbing H's interst too (he is not a Jodie Foster fan lol).
I have a dumb, low stakes question. I bought a 1 oz bottle of vitamin C serum at Sephora (back in October) and I realized today that the airless pump bottle is leaking from the bottom. I noticed a leak from *something* a few weeks ago, but the way I store my bottles I couldn't pinpoint what was leaking, and just figured out this morning it was this serum. (After I cleaned up the "spill" last time the leak went away for awhile, which is why I didn't realize it was this bottle.)
I didn't start using the serum right away, I don't use it every day, and since it's an opaque bottle with only 1 oz of product I can't gauge how much of it I've actually used. But it's too expensive to let it leak out and be wasted.
Would you take it back to Sephora, or would you contact the manufacturer directly?

I have the day off, H doesn’t. I was planning a chill day with the kids and getting a few chores done.
My front tooth that broke off overnight had other plans.
Thankfully, it was just part of a cap/filling and my dentist was able to fix it today without issues, but it was definitely one of the bigger WTF wake-ups of my life.

We are home from the hockey tournament and I’ve been gloriously lazy this afternoon, napping and watching Netflix. DD has zero chill though, so I promised to help assemble her new hockey net in a while. Maybe I’ll make some chili for lunches this week too.
I am a state employee and we are off today, but it was a battle several years ago to achieve this.
I worked a murder mystery on Saturday in a more rural/red county and my fellow cast member made a reference to “when you all return to work on Tuesday” and the whole audience (county workers) was like “Tuesday?!?!”
ssmjlm, bex1973, noodleoo thanks! I don't buy a lot from Sephora, so I wasn't sure how they were with returns if I come wandering in with a slightly sticky bottle from 3+ months ago.
We are in Kentucky, got like an inch of snow and they cancelled school tomorrow. They already had a 4 day weekend for mlk and had almost 3 weeks off for holiday break. Go to schooooooool.
I had more plans for today, but by the time I finished cleaning and laundry, then showered it was like 2pm and my kid wanted me to color with her.
So we colored Taylor Swift pictures and decided she needs a bigger cork board for her room.
I always want to believe crockpot meals are going to be better than they ever are (save for soups and salsa chicken). Oh well dinner wasn’t awful, but not the best.

Agree with the crockpot! I always feel like everything is dried out and overcooked even if I reduce the cooking temp/time.
I had the day off, and we aren't getting snow--this is Georgia, and we don't do snow very well. I don't think I know anyone that works corporate that had to work today. I spent it with my mountain bike and then washed both e-bikes in 50 degree weather. Of course I got pretty wet....
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

And it all tastes the same and your whole house smells like it.
Woke up to no hot water. Went and looked at the water heater and yeap, water all over the floor. It died. Then I went out to start my car and go figure - dead car battery.
Last week my dishwasher was leaking and had a repair guy come look at it. He decided I needed a new lower unit seal. Part was supposed to be ready first thing this AM and then he would be at my house by 9AM. Warehouse was apparently behind and part was not ready until almost 11AM. He got to my house at noon.
It's 7PM and I have a non leaking Dishwasher A new water heater and a new car battery.
Flew from NV to home today & the tail winds actually helped us arrive 30 minutes early. So glad our plane & flight worked out with all of this Armageddon weather across the country. Now, we are going to hibernate for a few months.
