We live in a coastal New England town and also have a cottage on Cape Cod so we prefer to stay home in the summer. This August is our 15th anniversary though, so I think we'll try to do a shortish trip at the end of August or early September - maybe a long weekend in London.
My gfs and I are also trying to plan a joint 40th birthday trip for July but I'm hoping to convince them to stay at our place on the Cape (see above re: not wanting to leave New England during the summer).
I'm not sure about summer yet, I think I will do a trip to the DC area where my parents live, take DS to the monuments and museums and stuff. I'm going to talk to H about camping in the UP of Michigan sometime this summer, or just below the bridge. We did that a few years back and had a blast.
We have a Universal trip planned for early March and Disney World in fall so those are our big trips.
janegold, as ridiculous as it is we might do a weekend in your town too, too (if you are where I think you are - thinking M but maybe you’re in S?). Our good friends just opened up a new bar/speakeasy and we want to check it out without having to worry about driving!
We're going to Slovenia for my birthday in late June for 10 days. It's been high on my list for years so I am very excited! We'll also have one night in Brussels on our way back. Looking forward to all the beers and frites.
Other than that we'll just go up to my family cottage in CT a few times and hopefully get a chance to stay at my boss's condo by the beach in DE.

We currently have credit booked to fly to Israel, because we were supposed to go over winter break. We are debating whether to go to Israel in June or whether to do another trip in June and go to Israel in December. If we did another trip, I’d love to either do NY or maybe a road trip to the Sequioias and Yosemite. But reading all these makes me want to go to Europe

We're doing our every two year travel to the US to see family. I go to NM to see my mom, stepdad and my mom's side of the family. We'll spend a week there. Then we'll fly to the east coast and travel to Cape May to spend some time with my dad, SM, brother, SIL and their kids at a beach house (we do it regularly and it works well).
Other than that, nothing planned. Probably will do something within train travel in late August-Sept. We're trying to cut back on flying due to environmental issues (also why we only visit US every two years).
We're doing Seattle in late August. I wanted to tack a few days in Banff on, but we're pressed up against the school year start so I don't know that we'll be able to do that.
We only have one trip planned this summer. We are going to Omaha, NE in June for a baseball tournament for DS. The timing lines up with the College World Series, so the boys and dads are excited to go to a CWS game while we're there. If anyone has any recommendations for restaurants or things to do in Omaha, I would love to hear them!
DS will have "optional" (read: if you want to even be considered for a starting position, you better be there or have a good excuse for not being there) football conditioning all summer (with official practices starting 2 weeks before school starts), except for the two dead-weeks (4th of July week and the first week in August), so that will limit our travel. DS will have some weekend baseball tournaments throughout the summer, but on some open weekends, we're hoping to get up to our property up north in Michigan (it is 10 minutes to Lake Michigan). (It is only about 1.25 hours from our home to our property, so a very doable length of time for even a day trip.)
jamaicam, my family and I took a trip to Germany/Austria/France last summer. We had train tickets from Munich to Strasbourg, but the train got cancelled, so we ended up taking a Flix Bus. It took twice as long as the train ride was supposed to, but to be honest, it was a much more scenic trip and in the end, we were glad we got to have that experience.
The CWS is a great time. There is usually a shuttle between popular destinations. Old Market it not far away—the new riverfront/park, shop’s, restaurants. Gets you away from the baseball congestion.
Of course the zoo, there is a safari park off the interstate, air and space museum. kiewitluminarium.org/ This is new and close to the downtown area.
Block 16, Early Bird, Ollie and Hobbs, Roma’s Italian are all good food IMO. Ted and Wally’s, coneflower are good Icecream. As it gets closer if more questions ask. Depending on where the tournaments are might have more suggestions.
We are planning a NY-Maine trip. Kids are 8 and 11. Lake Placid, Portland, Bar Harbor. Plan is to drive from Kentucky but split it up, my parents live in western NY so we will stop there.
We don't have any plans yet. We did a big vacation to CA last year that was $$$$ so we're probably looking for something we can just drive to this year, so I'd say anywhere within a 5-8ish hour drive from Central PA. If anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them!
Any Philly people who go "down the shore" want to school me on the beaches down there? I've only ever gone to OCMD and never any of the New Jersey beaches, and I've kind of been wanting to check them out.
We have a lake cottage so we try to go up there a lot in summer. We have a long weekend up there with DH's family and have some friends/family other times.
We have our long-standing (like almost my entire life) family vacation week tradition at a resort near our cottage with extended family. But for various reasons this is likely the last year for a while.
NEXT year, DD will be going into her junior year already. I'm tentatively planning a long South Dakota, Wyoming, Yellowstone road trip for 2025.

My sister, niece, son and I are going to England in August. Sister and Niece will attend the Taylor Swift concert and the rest of the trip is sightseeing and day trips! Can’t wait! Edit for kids ages: DS will be 15. Niece will be 22, so not a kid. My sister and I are considering a day trip alone and letting those two spend a day alone together (we’d pre-plan something for them). I’m nervous about that but both are fairly seasoned travelers with good heads on their shoulders so I’m coming around to it.

I grew up going to Ocean City, NJ. Nice family vibe, though dry town fyi. Boardwalk fun. They've had some issues in the past couple years with teens congregating on the beaches at night and causing problems. Not sure if they've gotten a handle on that or not; in previous years they've inacted curfews/added extra patrolling on the boardwalk.
Stone Harbor/Avalon is nice in a quaint town kind of way. Good downtown restaurants; no boardwalk here if that's important to you. It's a 15 min. drive from Wildwood, where there's a big boardwalk. I don't love Wildwood beaches, but I might be an outlier.
Cape May is a cutesy shore town. Lots of quirky shops, restaurants. No boardwalk. I love the free zoo in Cape May. There's a boardwalk path in the zoo. And, giraffes.
These are more southern NJ shore towns. Long Beach Island is more central NJ-ish and people seem to like it there, too.
We just did a big Disney trip, so our summer vacation will be lower key. We go to NJ for a week to visit family. We're thinking of tacking on a couple days to go to Hershey Park or DC on the way. TBD.
Maybe an overnight to Chicago/Milwaukee/Starved Rock. TBD.
We're going to Chicago for a long weekend at the beginning of August. The main reason was to see Metallica and visit my BFF who lives there. But now my BIL and his family are coming too. They live in Texas. I'm excited to do a family vacation with them.

We're in M! Yes, come - it's the perfect little weekend getaway! I will meet you there for a drink - I've been twice, it's super fun!!

Our only planned family trip is a week in northern Minnesota (Grand Marais area). H is going on a big 10-day off-the-grid hike so I am going to use my vacation time to add on a couple days to work trips to various places, including Arizona and London.
We are going to our family vacation home the week of 4th of July. We want another trip, but with cross country training/a high school athlete, and camps it is hard to find a time we can all go. DH told DD that she and I could go to the Olympics, but I'd really rather all 5 of us go if it's international. I think there is a week between track ending and summer cc conditioning, so I might just email the coach to see if that's true.
FYI finding lodging for the Olympics at this point is going to be very challenging, very expensive, very inconvenient or all 3

I'm doing a 4-night backpacking trip with my sister and 4 female cousins in Isle Royale in July that I'm really looking forward to. My grandparents had a cabin in Northern WI that my Aunt/cousins now own that I haven't been to in 20 years and we'll stay there the night before and after our backpacking.
We'll likely do an annual trip to Nantucket to visit my parents.
DD is trying to plan a senior trip somewhere with her girlfriends and I would probably go to be an adult nearby and just work from there. But that is very iffy.
Caribbean cruise in June. Driving to Cape Liberty and leaving from there. We all love cruising. Kids will be 9 and 6.
July is attending a wedding in Ontario, just DH and me. We will drop the kids in Michigan with my ILs for a few days of farm fun.
August, we are thinking a couple days at Cedar Point or Kings Island with the ILs.
No flying over the summer as we are flying in May to Austin for a family wedding. Staying at an Airbnb and just doing low key kid stuff like playgrounds and parks.
As of this moment, we only have two summer trips planned, both locally. We're spending a long weekend in July in Winter Park with DH's two childhood best friends, their wives, and kids. I'm looking forward to it. And in August we're spending our annual week in Breck before school starts. It's pretty much my favorite week of the year.
We were going to do Chicago with the boys this summer, but then DH realized they have a long weekend in April and it's so much cheaper, so we're doing that in April.
I don't know if we'll travel in June or not yet. I wouldn't mind going somewhere, but we have a really busy spring through April, so some downtime in May and June might be nice.
