This weekend is turningout pretty good so far. SD had a soccer game last night where they won 10-0 then we went to dinner with my SIL, to an ice cream spot, and then over to SIL’s house.
Today I took SD to Ulta to use up her gift cards. The kids just got picked up by my SIL for an afternoon activity. Tonight is the 9ers.
Today I was at the mall and at one store was buying a pair of boots and also grabbed a package of knee highs. The cashier loudly said, ‘so just the boots and the PANTYHOSE?’, and I cringed and kind of died.

I’ve been waking up at 2:30, so I finally fell back asleep and didn’t get up until 10. DH and I are going to the dog park, and then to take the dog to the self dog wash place. He needs a bath and a trim, and for $25 they clean up all the hair!
Not sure what else we’re doing today, maybe a game night at home. Something low key for sure though.
It’s their hairdryer and curling styler that’s similar to the Dyson.
there's no way I would ever use this to its full potential, but I still want it 😅
I also second the recommendation for gloves. I got H running gloves for Christmas and he hasn't used them yet (injuries 😓), but it's the one part of his body that starts to really hurt from the cold on his long runs so he was happy to get them.
My random: I'm making bolognese for dinner tonight. It's been a while since I've made it, so I've browsed a few recipes to refresh my memory. ... people are far too invested in their version of, well, anything. But the bolognese purists are intense 😳 (This is based on the comments on Bon Appetite, Food Network, and NY Times. I've decided to follow the Spend with Pennies recipe with my own embellishments and nuances... christ people - it's food. Make it so you like it and don't pop a blood vessel if some stranger does it differently 🥴).
The other day, a memory popped up on fb- it was. Screenshot of a recipe comments section, not sure what the recipe was. But person an asked if she could use a rotisserie chicken. Person b replied “you can use a pound of German bologna if you want, it’s your meal”.
Deep thought- The complete confusion and denial around who will be on the ballot in November - people who think Biden might step away, others who think Trump will likely be taken down before then - feels a lot like how many people approach global warming. A ‘Something will come along to fix this because this just shouldn’t/can’t happen’ mentality.

This year, I’m trying to be mindful of my boundaries and also trying to get the whole family’s involvement in the eight billion decisions I have to make for us every goddamn day. Like dinner. I asked hours ago if anyone has any requests for dinner. I’m putting the grocery order in for tomorrow morning. I AM SO TIRED OF COOKING and NOW they give me attitude when I ask what they want. Grumble grumble

We went to lunch at a tea room and it was delightful. The baked potato soup was amazing! (The rest of my tiers were good too). Tonight we're trying a new pizza place for takeout and watching that American Nightmare doc on Netflix.
I am getting so antsy not being able to walk outside with the cold, snow, and ice, so I think we're going to go walk at the mall tomorrow AM at like 8:00 with all the older folks lol. And then maybe have brunch after.
Ok, well, three stores and $226 later, DS2 has pants that are long enough and fit him pretty well in the waist. And he was great about it for the most part and very patient since I made him run a bunch of errands with me.
I also finally got his sensory swing hung up, so hopefully that’s not a total miss. I think he likes it, but he was kind of apprehensive about getting inside it initially.
My house is kind of a mess, but I’m going to try to ignore it and read for a bit since it was a busy day.
isabel if you decide to watch the Hulu show, lmk how it is! I was interested, thinking it would be a kind of whodunnit like Knives Out, but it’s labeled as just crime/drama and I don’t really want to watch it if it’s not at least a little silly.

I’m about to start it so I’ll let you know!
lust2hart I watched the first episode and enjoyed it. I would say so far it has humorous moments to balance out the drama and isn’t too heavy overall.
I chose to watch it mostly watching bc I love Mandy Patinkin.
We’ve had 2 weeks of bitter cold, snow, and weather where you do not want to leave the house. A bunch of local restaurants have been posting that January is a notoriously hard month in the industry and these two weeks have made that even worse. DH, who works from home and has not really left the house these last 2 weeks, wanted to go out today and support a bunch of local places. All well and good until you slip on ice and land face first on the sidewalk 🤦🏻♀️. I’m really lucky that I’m not in worse shape, to be honest. I have scraped up knees and my shoulder is sore, but overall, I think I’m ok? I guess I’ll know more tomorrow. At least I have some good takeout and snacks!

DH and I are watching it and like it a lot- it is a little Knives Out-like, and we love the Agatha Christie feel of it.
Mostly a relaxing day here- I slept in and did nothing until I picked up groceries. I still got in a good workout, did a load of laundry, baked cookies from dough that's been languishing in the fridge, but I did snuggle on the couch with the dog a lot and read most of a book.

We’re really enjoying it, reminds me a bit of White Lotus, I can see Knives Out too!
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
(Background) I mentioned the other day that H was diagnosed with melanoma. He goes regularly for skin checks and his derm thinks this is shallow and hasn’t spread, but obviously a scary word.
Tonight H drank a lot and then got emotional and cried for a while. At one point he said, “When do I tell my dad? He’s going to be so scared.” 😭 (H’s mom died of cancer.)
I just held him while he cried and said that I love him and will take care of him. I hate that he’s scared and that I can’t fix it. 😕
Our appt with the derm oncology people isn’t til Thursday.

Oh, ohgillian. That’s so hard. Big hugs to you and your H. I am keeping you in my thoughts that his doctors are able to easily remove it and that he is just fine. ❤️

I have over scheduled myself for this weekend. Haircut today at 12:15, then dinner and the Jonathan Van Ness show with friends. And tomorrow I’m going to see another friend’s daughter in her HS productions of Matilda. That’s a lot in one weekend for this child-free hermit lol
In good news, my new watch should finally get here today and some of the FlexX jeans from Express that I bought based on a rec from here so fingers crossed they fit nicely!
I saw the JVN show last night. I decided to take myself because I don't have any local friends that would be interested. I was pretty close to the stage and I got a kick out of watching the ASL interpreters sign some of the show content. Hope you had fun!

FB ads are now showing me jaw dropping travel pics. However, they're sometimes of places I've been to that look nothing like the pics, so it just pisses me off. I still vastly prefer it over the horrible maga shit that sometimes shows up, but real life doesn't need to be edited.
We are working today. An assistant called out and we were already short staffed one. So now we will be down by two. Staffing sucks. But patients LOVE to request weekend hours. Most of them will show up too.
I have such a stressful relationship with owning a car. I put so many miles on each year that I will never have a paid off car that is under 100k for miles so I will never realistically have a car that is reliable and no payment. I traded in my 3.5 year old suv yesterday for basically the same thing and my payments went up (I wasn’t anticipating that because the trade was still worth a bit, but I had a 0% financing rate before). I’m regretting it today but maybe not really. My family doesn’t get it because they don’t drive over 20k miles a year. I am also single and also have no help or backup for car repairs and feel stressed as the miles pile up. What a lot of words to just say that I half regret my decision yesterday and I’m half relieved. I’m just going to enjoy the new car and remind myself that if the payments get to be too much I can trade it in for something cheaper (I hope).
