I searched and didn’t see a thread yet. And I will not talk about my snowblower. 😁
H twisted his ankle pretty bad on some ice at work. I convinced him to go get it looked at the morning. He comes from such a small business, “man up” environment that he just hobbled around on it all afternoon, didn’t tell anyone, just pushed through the pain. I was talking him through the fact he is going to need some documentation and light duty orders and such. *sigh* At least he went. If nothing else, a professional wrap job will do it good.
And I’m supposed to leave at 2 for 24 hours for a fencing tournament. Leaving him with the dog (no fenced yard, have to leash walk for everything). He says it’s fine.
I have over scheduled myself for this weekend. Haircut today at 12:15, then dinner and the Jonathan Van Ness show with friends. And tomorrow I’m going to see another friend’s daughter in her HS productions of Matilda. That’s a lot in one weekend for this child-free hermit lol
In good news, my new watch should finally get here today and some of the FlexX jeans from Express that I bought based on a rec from here so fingers crossed they fit nicely!
I just finished yesterday’s Randoms; thinking of you pinkdutchtulips!
I had my first feature (15 minute) set last night and it went far better than I expected, lol. Cool venue (a hipster distillery) and the audience was into it. Super fun!
Tonight I’m doing a roast battle but apparently ticket sales are low, mainly because we are competing against a big football game and the show is starting quite late. Oh well – it should be fun anyway.
Today’s plans were canceled because of the snow. We got more than they were saying for the city, we got about 8 inches yesterday!
I wish we could notify companies/Amazon to hold deliveries when it’s bad weather. I don’t want people risking their lives to deliver me anything. Of course, I’d rather buy most of these things in person to begin with but that is not where we are. I always try to do no rush delivery anyway but I can’t switch it to even further out when the weather changes and most of the time they send it out days earlier than what I chose.
Yesterday DS was home for a virtual day, so I really needed to get out of the house by dinnertime. The 3 of us met some friends at our favorite bar for dinner. We then ran into more friends that ended up sitting with us and were there about 2 hours. Then, we went home and two other friends came over to hang out for a bit. We had a great time and it scratched that itch for me to be social. I'm good for a few days now lol.
I don't drink a lot of "regular" beers anymore though after losing weight a few years ago and try to stick to seltzer or lighter stuff, but I had two 7% alcohol winter beers at dinner which is making me feel a bit gross today. Oh well. It was a beer that I love that only comes out once a year!
We're just getting our workouts in now and then DS has a bball game at 2pm. I think I'm making enchiladas here tonight since we went out last night.
I did my first sleep study in a medical facility last night. I've done two at home sleep studies because insurance is dumb and wouldn't cover the in medical facility one before. Per my doctor's instructions I used my sleep apnea mouth guard made by my dentist for me during the study and didn't need them to put a CPAP on me so it works! Yay. They woke me at 4am because they only run the study for 6 hours. I was in REM. I hate waking up from REM. It throws my whole day off because I feel extra tired all day despite coffee & time. Also see it was 4am. Ugh. Early to bed for me tonight.
DH wanted to ski today, but nobody else was into it. It’s now 9am and he’s still fast asleep and I’m just now waking up.
In addition to the usual stuff, I need to fill out an intake form for DS2 for a cognitive assessment and take him to the mall to see if I can find him some pants that fit him in the waist without being five inches too short. I expect a lot of pushback and plan to bribe him with a treat of his choice from the food court.
Aside from that, I’m hoping for a very low key weekend. I think I want to try out Death and Other Details on Hulu.
DS2 starts training for the city's half-marathon with his school's running club next week, so I need to figure out what gear I still need to buy so he'll stay comfortable in the winter temps. I know he needs some more long-sleeved athletic shirts and paints suitable for running. A local running store is donating shoes, and we've already ordered a water bottle/belt bag thing from Amazon that the coach recommended. a headband/ear-warmer thing would probably also be a good idea, right?

We have the same issue with pants. DS is tall, but has a tiny waist. Adding to the issue that he has a hard time with buttons and snaps. Godspeed lol.

Most of the guys in my running club wear leggings (not sure if guys call them leggings?) With basketball shorts over the top. We're in the northeast so pretty chilly but they seem good.

H wears tights for cold weather running. He may want a warmer layer to wear over his base layer. A beanie or ear cover is good. Maybe some gloves.

Was going to say the same. H runs in tights, long sleeve running shirt, a running vest, beanie and gloves. Depending on when they are running you may want something reflective as well. H has a beanie with a light and reflective tape on his vest.

I had 14 sixteen and seventeen year old boys at my house last night for my son’s birthday. We have been doing sleepover birthday parties for him for the last 8 years and it dawned on me that I probably only have one more before he leaves for college 😭
I don't know why I feel energetic and productive today. It's rare! Yesterday I worked from home and spoke to my boss, who gave me my sourdough starter and got me into bread making, and he said "go feed your starter so you can make bread this weekend!" I still have trouble with the timing of the feeding and rising and I haven't been able to make any since I started working full time. I was like "OMG, you're right!" This occasionally working from home thing is SO STRANGE to me. But now I just took focaccia out of the oven and my sourdough is rising. I think I'm going to do cinnamon raisin for tomorrow morning and some focaccia to share. It is the perfect day to have the oven on. It's (finally) freezing!
We're going to see the play Death Trap tomorrow. I loved the movie version and have always wanted to see it on stage. I have always been a Broadway snob so I hope we love the little theater we're going. They're next production is Misery and I'd like to see that too.
Ok those FlexX jeans are pretty great lol TBD on whether they bag out while wearing. But as someone whose waist is a 6/8 and ass/hips are a 10, they feel good.
I have absolutely no idea what she's talking about, but I'm inferring from the exclamation point thst it was a good surprise.
It’s their hairdryer and curling styler that’s similar to the Dyson.
there's no way I would ever use this to its full potential, but I still want it 😅
I also second the recommendation for gloves. I got H running gloves for Christmas and he hasn't used them yet (injuries 😓), but it's the one part of his body that starts to really hurt from the cold on his long runs so he was happy to get them.
My random: I'm making bolognese for dinner tonight. It's been a while since I've made it, so I've browsed a few recipes to refresh my memory. ... people are far too invested in their version of, well, anything. But the bolognese purists are intense 😳 (This is based on the comments on Bon Appetite, Food Network, and NY Times. I've decided to follow the Spend with Pennies recipe with my own embellishments and nuances... christ people - it's food. Make it so you like it and don't pop a blood vessel if some stranger does it differently 🥴).
Additional random: I think I mentioned on... Thursday? Wednesday? That the hoa is redoing curbs and what not. And the jackhammer made the house vibrate and blah blah 😑 🙄
I figured they'd come back to pour concrete Monday.
No.
They're right out front right now pounding in the stakes and frames and pouring/smoothing concrete during prime napping hours.
I'm not bothered (see my pp about making bolognese lol), but it.is.COLD. Monday weather will be better for everyone. I really hope this HOA is paying for weekend time 🙂

A is trying soccer for the first time. It's his first sport where he needs to wear shoes and it's outside. So of course it was pouring during his first game this morning. We were wholly unprepared.
I met with my study abroad group this morning. The class is over spring break, so it's coming up sooner than I had really realized! You guys, I think I am going to be the old lady on this trip. Most of the people going sound like they are in their mid 20s. There is one other woman I've worked on projects with in the past who I think is older than that but still probably several years younger than me. Even the professor is a year or two younger, lol. It will be fine, I am just really going to have to suppress the urge to chime in with certain things and come off as an annoying know it all like old people tend to do. I'm an elder millennial so they will probably think I'm lame anyway. At least we should have free time by mid to late afternoon every day so I can go off on my own and do things.
They asked what everyone was apprehensive about and I couldn't exactly say that out loud lol.

Last night we let C have a friend sleep over for the first time. C has done one other sleepover before (at a friend’s house) and the it was a first sleepover for the boy who stayed last night. It went great! They behaved themselves, played nicely, went to bed around 10 and woke up at 8. We took friend home at 10 am.
Today we went to Kohls to look for clothes for C and a formal dress for me for an upcoming function. The first several dresses were horrible and I wanted to cry because nothing was flattering. Then as I was about to give up I found a gorgeous gown on clearance for $51 that fits me perfectly and looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
