How old is your ds? Can you ask him to put it together himself?
I am HORRIBLE with spacial reasoning and reading directions and then putting things together, and it frustrates me more than almost anything else in the world, so as soon as my ds was able to, I made him my official 'builder' of all furniture type things. I think he started doing major things for me around 10 years old. He likes that kind of stuff, and allowing him to do it gave him a sense of competence that has been nice. Dd is more like me, so when she asks if she can do something, I try to save the simpler stuff for her (like attaching legs to our kitchen stools).
6 with a gross motor delay. So no lol.
Then I remembered I have to build the toy shelf too. ::sobs::
Update: I assembled the clothing rack! The toy shelf will wait for another day.
Probably the final update on the Pokemon cards. The mom responded that she asked her DS and he said he didn’t take them. She said her daughter bought him some cards last week also 🙄 My DS said that the kid wouldn’t even look at him in school today but came and sat with them at lunch and ignored DS.
Today has been so gross. First DS lost his tooth while walking to the bus stop so I was stuck holding onto a bloody molar until I got home. Then I pulled some clothes out of the corners of DD's closet to wash...I had no idea what was in her pockets until I realized it was the egg noodles and broccoli in cream sauce we had over 3 weeks ago for dinner that she didn't like. We will be having words when she comes home from school.
I have found many fossilized apple slices in random places because my ds likes to 'pretend' to eat those. He's thrown them in bushes outside (WHY when the big garbage can is literally only steps away???), left them in pants pockets that then went THROUGH THE LAUNDRY, and I've found them in about every inside garbage can we have (and we have a strict rule that food gets thrown away only in the kitchen or outside garbage can). What I don't understand is why he doesn't just feed it to the dog! We have a lab who loves fruit, and when she hears me cutting up the apples for lunch every day, she runs over and I give her a little sliver of each apple because she is such a fan. Also, my ds actually does like apples and doesn't want any other fruit for lunch, he just doesn't like to finish them when there's 1 slice left on his plate and I ask him to finish it apparently.

Oh no, I'm so sorry, that is not a good resolution. I don't know if I would have enough guts to push it any further with the mom, so I totally understand if you don't. I hope the kid grows a conscience and gives them back on his own. But considering he has parents that aren't making a big deal out of it, I'd guess he won't. That sucks, I'm sorry.
expectantsteelerfan, I don’t think it’s worth it-but H says I should have told her the cost so she understands that these aren’t just random cards. I had already told her that they were old/RARE cards that you can’t buy anymore. I told DS we’d try to find some of them again but it may take time. Then I said that if his friend lied and keeps lying that’s something he has to live with on his conscience but DS did nothing wrong and it’s not normal for friends to steal from you

That's awful flygirl, I'm so sorry. I think I'd reply saying that she'd be able to tell if it's your son's card rather than a new one from his sister based on whatever your son was talking about, and say that these cards run $X, so his sister might not have gotten them the same ones. You said something about not having much faith in the mom doing the right thing, but I don't think I'd just be able to let it go at this, I'd want to make her aware both of the monetary value and of the fact that they have distinguishing characteristics so you'll know if they're a family of liars.
And then I'd tell your son that if he ever gets the chance to take them back that's not considered stealing because fuck these people.
I never got around to the vaccine (50+ for us olds out there) but I'm going to schedule it. Thanks, doc.
I'm super late Gen X so I'm too young for the shingles vaccine and too old for the HPV vaccine. And I'm PISSED ABOUT IT.
This is truly torturous.
PSA: if you can get the vaccine, do it ASAP.
I got shingles last summer when I was 43. The pain was insane. I couldn’t wear a shirt (it was along my back along my bra strap line and wrapped around my breast. I had to chose whether I wanted to wear the lidocaine patches at night so I could sleep or the day so I could function. I didn’t have a vesicle pop up until a week after the pain started. Looking back, I wish I had taken the nurse up on her offer to call in stronger pain meds. I have a very high pain tolerance and shingles almost broke me. I’m so sorry that you are experiencing this shit.
My good friend thought she had a bad uti and it was shingles in her crotch. The doctor said only thing worse pain wise than that is shingles on your face/eyes/mouth.
I am now nervous that anytime my stress levels get high, I might have another bout of it. With so many younger people getting it now, maybe they will reconsider the age for the shingles vaccine.

This. I’d identify the one that has a mark on it. Fuck that.

I'm an older millennial. I got shingles 13 years ago when I was 25. I wish they'd lower the age you're eligible for the vaccine because not only olds get shingles.
I know what you guys are saying but the way the conversation went she wasn’t gonna give 2 shits about it. ETA: I should have just let H go to her house the first night when he was all pissed off. 😆

hi 👋 I'm 40, and my first bout of shingles happened when I was around 35. My case is strange because it wasn't localized to one side of my body, but it did follow the nerves on both arms and legs. I've had four recurrences. FOUR. Not as bad as the first, but any major stress causes a flare.
Will insurance cover the vaccine for me? Nope. At this point I'm not sure it would make a difference. But I still experience the nerve pain, and it absolutely sucks 😕
ETA: I meant to add that I've found avoiding lutein helps (although it could be psychosomatic). Berries, dark chocolate... healthy things that should be good for me apparently aren't.
My dog goes to a doggie daycare that is for dogs 35lbs and under. We got her in September and her paperwork said she was 29.5lbs and we took that as truth, and that’s what we told her daycare. I took her for a checkup today and she’s actually 44lbs and I don’t think she’s gained 15lbs since we got her. I think with the daycare we’ll just keep keeping on, and if they say something they say something, but she loves it there.

I would be SO tempted to reply, "Ok, thanks. Someone took the cards during the playdate. Since we are talking about hundreds of dollars worth of my son's property, we feel obligated to file a police report. I'll let the other moms know too."
