I finished A Love Song For Ricki Wilde and The Other Valley this weekend. I’m in the minority on Ricki Wilde, I think. I loved the Black Harlem history, but hated the writing style and didn’t love the way the magical realism part was done. I liked The Other Valley, although I struggle big time with the lack of quotation marks so maybe audio would be better for that one. But I’d love to read other stories from that same world.
I’m reading The Magic Hour and I like it but don’t love it. I also have Interesting Facts About Science on my kindle and I started it but then stopped it to read The Magic Hour. Thoughts on that one?

I just finished the second book in The Crescent City series which I'm loving but I'm #20 in line for the third book on Libby so looking for a few books while I wait for that. I'm almost halfway in The Enigma of Room 622 which I think was recommended here and I'm liking it so far.
I finished All the Lonely People by Mike Gayle and loved it, and now reading Mrs. Quinn’s Rise to Fame. I’m looking forward to finally reading Tress of the Emerald Sea this month.
I just finished listening to The Boys in the Boat, and now I’m listening to A Wing and a Prayer (written by Harry Crosby, the navigator in Masters of the Air), which is his true account of many of the events in Masters of the Air, so it’s a good accompaniment to the series.
Yesterday I read Darius the Great is Not Okay, which was an awesome YA novel. There is a sequel that I’m waiting to get from the library.
I finished listening to Young Jane Young this morning and really enjoyed it.
I found an old Kristin Hannah paperback in a free little library (Distant Shores). It’s decent. I’ll keep reading because I have nothing else at the moment.

I am 3/4 of the way through Cutting Teeth (preschoolers develop an unusual taste for blood). It is odd AF, but for some reason I’m enjoying it. I finished Before We Were Innocent and liked that one too. I’m still trying to get through The Covenant of Water and o really do like it, but I keep putting it down for these faster reads.

Oh, and I also recently read The Measure by Nikki Erlick. It was thought-provoking, sometimes infuriating (as in, the characters' actions), and heartwarming. I'm still thinking about what I would do if it really happened.
I'm almost finished with A Fragile Enchantment, a new YA romantasy. It's okay. I also just finished the Rosewood Hunt (pretty good treasure hunting adventure) and my "adult" read at the moment is Game Changer. I've fallen behind on my nonfiction reading this year, so I'm taking notes on what everyone else is reading and enjoying.

I loved this book, but it was so thought provoking in a way that didn’t feel entirely comfortable.

There is no way I wouldn't look, even if I didn't really want to. I really enjoyed that book.
I'm reading Oscar Wars: A History of Hollywood in Gold, Sweat, and Tears by Michael Schulman. It is interesting but looong. Around 500 pages, which was more than I bargained for.

I read that, the later chapters are really bad. I think he ran out of steam after the content heavy early chapters.

That is annoying. I hoped the later chapters might go more quickly because I'm more familiar with more recent movies.
LOVED it, tore through it, and the follow up book, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur, last week. Am now halfway through the third one of the trilogy, the Perfumist of Paris.
Next up may be The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, by James McBride.
Finished A Day In the Life of Abed Salama last night. The story is heartbreaking, but the writing was incredibly dry. It was a struggle to maintain interest at various points. Not sure I’d recommend it, but given the current situation in Palestine, I think it provides a good history in an easy to digest format.
Starting Heaven and Earth Grocery Store today. I’ve been looking forward to this one so I hope it’s good.
I'm listening to the "Together We Read" book that I saw when I opened the Libby app. It's called One Summer in Savannah by Terah Shelton Harris. So far, I like it - EXCEPT - the narrator is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. So many weird pauses and inflections. It's distracting. Not sure I'll be able to finish it.
