I was on phone with a rep the other day and at the end of the call he asked me where I was from. When I said right outside of Boston he was all “Really-I thought you were from Minnesota.” I told him that that's probably because I try and talk without my Boston accent when I'm on the phone. He laughed so hard and said he’d remember that. 😂
Awww, I love a Boston accent. Reminds me of my grandpa.

I took my son to the grand opening of a Lego resale shop. It's pretty crowded and several people seem to smell like wet dog. He's having fun and I found a chair so it could be worse.
We found a dead raccoon in the yard yesterday and suspect it was poisoned. We bagged it up and put it in the trash but now I’m debating whether I should have called animal control. I don’t know if they care about potential poisonings of wildlife but I am worried for the cats that wander around the neighborhood.
DS1 was in his first play last night and did SO good! He had a few small parts and said all his lines so loud and clear (other kids were hard to hear.) Both performances ended up selling out and not everyone we invited preordered tickets and were just going to buy them at the door. I don’t think the school anticipated this much interest, lol.
Flight delayed three times, got on board, connecting flight cancelled. Desperately tried to figure out if it made sense to fly to Tampa and make a later connection, but that one hour filled up.
MH and kids are currently rebooked to fly out this afternoon, but would connect in a different city. MH really wanted me to come, so I'm standby. If the afternoon flight doesn't work, I'm not getting in until midnight.
This redness correction… is it a color correction or actually helping stop the redness? I’ve got minor rosecea, and while I love the cream my derm gives me, it’s hell expensive prescription. So I just make do with samples when it flares (usually related to sun and wind, but isn’t sunburn). I wonder if I should try this?
It's a moisturizer. Sorry, it's actually called redness solutions, not corrector. I'm pretty sure my redness was caused by the dryness and sensitivity that comes with aging and my unfortunate, very pale, white lady complexion, lol. I do remember reading in the comments that people with rosacea didn't respond as well to it.
FWIW, that’s what I thought my redness was too. Until the day I went to my derm for something else, and she said “what are you doing with your rosecea?” And I was all “what rosecea? Isn’t this just pale skin issues?” Lol
7costanza, I my area, animal control wants to collect dead wildlife for rabies testing. We’ve called for raccoons and groundhogs before. Managed to get our dog in 30-day rabies quarantine for it (she was vaccinated, so just home quarantine, but we weren’t supposed to let her interact with anyone out if our household).
devonpow, I'm nervous about the SAT too. I'm a counselor for an online school and we don't offer the SATs (since no buildings) so our kids have to test at their home school district or another one that they choose. I have no control over any of it. I don't even typically know who is testing in a given month unless they tell me or have a question. I tried to communicate to my kids about the digital changes but no one reads my emails or listens to me, lol. I'm just afraid someone that I don't know about is showing up unprepared to testing and I'll hear about it Monday, lol.
teens don’t read any emails! Half of DS’s friends didn’t realize they had to do the whole admissions ticket thing until I told their moms a few days ago. My DS was super insistent he didn’t need to know his college board password for test day and then of course was texting me in a panic at 7;45 this morning that he needed it. Sigh
I wish there was a magic wand I could wave to do all the household tasks like cleaning and laundry. Like an I Dream of Jeannie situation where I could wiggle my nose and it magically happens.
I do realize money can be like a magic wand for this stuff, but that’s not in the budget.
ssmjlm - if you need to book something now, you can usually add that info to the reservations later, just FYI.
I keep thinking American is going to add better options, when I should know better.
But I hate the Atlanta airport, so delta is out. I just wish there was a direct flight. 40 mins in Charlotte is tight, but 2 hours is ugh. DH and I do have lounge access.

I just looked it up and only bats have rabies here. After some googling it’s still unclear on whether I should have called animal control but maybe I’ll give them a call to check.
I was zesting a lemon to make dinner last night and got my thumbnail pretty good. It is split too far down to just cut the broken part, so I am guessing I will need to keep a band aid on it for a long time to avoid constantly snagging it. I am so annoyed since it is on my dominant hand and basically everything requires using your thumb, including typing on a phone.
Today I have to go to Costco and my H and I are going to play a board game (which he is far more into than me so I am not super excited about that part haha). I need to do a few academic related work things this weekend too.

The neighbors behind us texted this morning that they heard what sounded like 20 coyotes attacking something right outside at 2:30am. We’re fenced and have big dogs so I’m not super worried, and I always turn on the lights and scan the yard before letting the dogs out after dark. My morbid self wants walk in the woods (before dusk) and see if there’s parts of what they attacked.
I dream of the day that I no longer have to think of things that other people want to eat, and only have to plan food for myself.
This message brought to you by meal planning. At least we are starting Hello Fresh again this week so I only have to think about breakfast and lunch. Because that's more than enough.

I was born and raised outside of Boston and typically my accent only comes over when I a tired. I work for a Minnesota based company and my colleagues are always floored that I am not from there because they claim I have a Minnesota accent.

Ugh, such a busy day today! DH and DS went to baseball until 11, I have to pick up DS at the end of practice to take him and DD to a doc appointment for a med check. Then we need to exchange DS baseball shoes. I think I’ll slip in Jersey Mike’s sub lol. THEN we are supposed to finish cleaning out and rearranging our room, and cleaning the house.
Luckily DH is golfing tomorrow, so I only have brunch with my parents and walk the dog. Lol.
In other news, we’re having a few community service events, and they’re doing really well! I’m very proud of the efforts so far, and I have a good plan for more outreach next week!
I use Moisture Surge on my face every night, but I layer it over Clinique redness correction night cream (I started getting redness in my face as I got older, this stuff is amazing with correcting it!). I'd layer the Moisture Surge over another face cream. Also, I don't wash my face in the morning, just rinse and then reapply more moisturizer. Also, are you using a gentle, non-drying face cleanser? My skin became a desert around 38-42 so I've been dealing with this for awhile. Oh, and stay hydrated, of course.g

I have rosacea. We do this to ourselves every once in a while, don't we? Waste money and hope a lotion will work? It won't. Save your money! Rosacea sucks so bad. The best we can do with OTC stuff is find wash and moisturizer that won't aggravate your skin. ❤️

When my son is out of the house the only time I am ever making g or eating dinner again is when I feel like making a wildly extravagant technical meal. Dinner is bullshit.
It's pouring here too, but its fine since we didn't have any plans except grocery shopping and getting DS a haircut.
I need a new moisturizer. My trusty Clinique Moisture Surge isn't cutting it lately. Any recs?

I'll look into the Redness Corrector. I have some redness too. I use Cereve cleanser since my skin is sensitive.

Nail polish! If the split isn't too uneven right now you can apply a few coats of polish and it should help to prevent snags.

My backwoods ass was going to suggest super gluing it.
Two friends had rough weeks so when one suggested getting together for mimosas and coffee cake this morning I sucked it up and went even though it's been a long week and what I really wanted was to sleep later and spend the morning reading in my pj's. Clearly not a hardship, but man I am peopled out. Swung by Target and picked up groceries after that, planning to get in a Peloton ride and yoga this afternoon, maybe actually get around to tidying up my half of the closet and dresser drawers.
We need to clean this weekend, but that's not happening until tomorrow afternoon. We switched to monthly cleaning so the kids would have the opportunity to learn these chores, but I always wish for our previous every two weeks when the second weekend rolls around.
