I am not really understanding why you would go on a trip with people you're not close to and don't seem to like (a snail!), but I think when you go on trips with people you DO like it's very normal to share a room.
I’m starting to wonder the same thing, lol. I do have fun on these trips generally, and like three of the four women. I really wouldn’t want to share a room with anyone other than my H and kids though. I need time to recharge by myself at the end of the day and my own space.
I do an annual trip with a couple of good friends, and the whole point of the trip is that we don't have to share space with anyone, INCLUDING our husbands and kids lol. We literally call the trip Alone Together. I mean we clearly share kitchen/living spaces, but the understanding is that any one of us can just peace out back to their own room without offending anyone else.
Add me to the exhausted club today. I couldn’t sleep Monday night because I was stressing out about a doctor’s appointment yesterday. I couldn’t sleep last night either though and was up until 4 am!! WTF. I was tired at 9:45 and then poof awake. None of my usual tricks worked and I just ended up reading. Until 4 am. The older I get the less I can handle any sort of time change.
DD struggled last night, too. She said she tried a sleep podcast, then music, then reading, then writing and nope. Just wide awake. She at least fell asleep at 1.
I’ve decided I’m just going to shift my start time 30 minutes this week. And then I’ll take the other 30 minutes next week.
I’m taking my car in for new tires today. And I’m expecting it to be a thing. There is one that needs to be replaced because of sidewall damage. And one TPS sensor that is bad. But, they are 5 years old and so I decided to just replace all 4, but could go awhile longer on them. That’s all fine. But then, I don’t have stock rims, and Costco says they will only install tires per mac spec. But the tired I ordered are the exact size and speed rating I have on now. Which is the size for winter rims and tires for my car (I.e. not the low profile crap). So, I think it’s about 50/50 if they will do them. But also, no one will fix my TPS sensor bc the tire needs to be replaced.
And because I don’t like starting a new thread for random questions - how do you clean retainers/night guards? I brush it, soak in cleaner daily, and occasionally soak in H2O2. But, I just feel it needs something more.

I had to go back to the doctor on Sunday because my eye got worse (have a stye) and the ointment they gave me was not doing anything. They put me on oral antibiotics thankfully and my eye looks so much better, but OMG they make me so nauseous when I take them! And I have to take them twice a day for 10 days! I have tried eating before and eating after and I still feel sick for like 45 minutes. I had to put my head down on my desk this morning because it was so bad.

H and I have been passing sickness around for weeks. I haven't been kissing him because I didn't want to get it - but he seemed better yesterday so we did two peck kisses yesterday. I woke up this morning with what feels like the beginning of another cold.

I decided to try a new brand of gluten free bagels and they are...not good. I like my bagels toasted to like well done, and I did that with this brand this morning and it's like a eating a brick. Insert sad face emoji.

I'm not at home, so I ordered cutlery with my food delivery (default is none.) A place purporting to be Spanish tapas delivered me eggplant lasagna, hash browns, croissant sandwich. Yes, all from the same place and none having anything Spanish tapas about them. It was rated highly.
Cutlery was 2 spoons and 1 fork.
It's not as unusual as it looks since spoons are the locally preferred delivery method for shoveling food into your gob. I had a friend tease me for using a fork which in retrospect made total sense. Why do we eat rice with a fork? Especially if there's a sauce on it. Forks are to put food on the spoon.
But why 2? Why no knife at least for lasagna? Also, one spoon broke on the actually very nice hash browns. So that was fun. Hands it is!
As an aside, it's interesting how using eating utensils or not at all can impress your host. I've been praised for using hands, spoons, chopsticks. The other day I was eating mac n cheese with chopsticks to much acclaim. Which sounds like a prank (it truly wasn't).
Put tasty food in front of me, and I'll find a way to get it in my mouth regardless what you provide. Dirt shovel? Sure. Child's playset, come at me. Deny me anything, and my hands will do just fine.
Sorry DST haters. I have been feeling amazing all week. The extra daylight at the end of the day is giving me so much energy.
I love the extra daylight in the afternoons. I'm so much more motivated after work to do stuff when the sun is still out. It's the mornings that are a struggle. My body just does not want to wake up. I was late to work today and I'm wfh LOL

I have never found any kind gluten free bread that's worth it. Have you?
If you like flour tortillas, try the Mission Almond Flour tortillas! I put the off for months then finally tried them and they are amazing warmed over the stove. It's so nice to have something else after ten years of corn.

donutsmakemegonuts can I give you the unsolicited suggestion of taking a probiotic? The last time I was on antibiotics it was one I'd never had before, and it WRECKED my digestive system for a couple weeks and needed probiotics to get back on track. I don't usually feel any GI effects on antibiotics.
For the record, I don't think it's weird to want space on a girls' trip! But it's also not weird to me to actively want to share, whether it's to lower the cost or just have nighttime chatting time.
I just donated blood at DD1’s school. She was scheduled to donate with me but she got rejected bc of iron. She was SO upset. Crying. She completed melted down - it was a foray into how she’s going to fail chemistry and not get into college. Sigh.
She immediately registered for another drive next week. I swear, she is the strangest kid. She can easily be the most self-centered and shallow person I know but then turn around and be completely selfless and empathetic 5 minutes later.
I got a ticket to the Kelly Clarkston show when I'm in NYC next week. I haven't RSVP yet- has anyone ever been to a taping like that? How long does it usually last? Debating if its worth it to ditch DH and the kids that morning lol
Normally I'm not really impacted by DST but this one really did impact me for some reason and I've just been dragging this week. I mean I'm attributing it to DST because nothing else is different for me. This morning when I got to work I was still tired and I forgot to turn off my vehicle (I have the keyless ignition and keep the key in my pocket), good thing it beeps at me if the key leaves the vehicle while running. But for a second I was wondering why it beeped LOL
Kid had homework last night - the only time they have homework is if they don't finish something at school. She couldn't understand why I insisted she hang up the phone to finish it. Girl. The reason you have this homework is because you talk too much at school and don't get it done. Come on now LOL
I have been ready for lunch since about 10am but trying to hold off until 12 because if I eat too early I'll be starving mid afternoon - FWP for sure.

Oh, I love the end of the day. Just hate the mornings.
Oh I hate mornings regardless, so it hasn't really changed anything for me LOL. I definitely don't hit my stride until like 10 am, regardless of any time change. Maybe that's why I haven't noticed much different about the mornings.

I'm going on a girls trip in a few weeks and I really like the person who offered to get one room for us. Nope, no way. I like having my own space. Even when my H and I go away, we try to get a suite or at least have a balcony we can escape to for alone time (especially as I tend to wake up before other people).

We haven't had the time change and I'm already struggling today (it's almost 4pm). I went to bed later than usual and woke up earlier than my alarm. Boo. But workday is almost over!

Interesting! It never occurred to me that we wouldn't all change time at the same time (date). So sometimes you are X hours different and other times Y hours - never occurred to me!

Fun fact: Australia doesn't change until a week after the UK. When they do change, they go in the opposite direction of us (so will be "falling back" to standard/winter time on April 7). And China never changes at all.
I coordinate monthly meetings with people all around the world, and learned all this the hard way.
H is randomly home in the middle of the day and is watching videos on his phone and I want to scream. PUT IN EARBUDS. I do not want to listen to whatever you are watching. It is easily the most irritating thing he does. Inside my head is noisy enough, extra noise makes me so angry.
We have to leave Friday for the regional wrestling tournament for ds but we are supposed to get 3 feet of snow between now and then and our plow driver said last night that the road will probably close because he is the only plow driver up here for the next 3 days. So the kids and I are going to stay at our house in school town for the next few days so we can be sure we are there Friday. I'm kind of sad I won't be here for this big snow event. I love it when we have snow like that here.

Damn it, I was going to blow her mind with this info! I spend part of the year 5 hours ahead of CA, then right now it's 4, and next month it'll be 3. And right now we're still 3 hours behind England, but soon it'll be 4 and then 5. Makes phone calls to my dad a little confusing at times!

We’re having a family Zoom with the in-laws on Sunday afternoon to discuss a Thanksgiving vacation. Original idea was Norway in the summer, but SIL2 and her family ruined that (no I’m not bitter at all, why do you ask? 🤣)
It will be a group of 10-13 people depending on whether or not some significant others come. Ages 20-83. Priorities are non-extensive travel for the older folks in Florida and not being too remote (this family tends to have medical emergencies on vacations lol). They want a mix of relaxation and activities. Some of us (me & SIL1) want a more interesting or exotic or at least warm/tropical location. Some are suggesting fucking Georgia or Amelia Island, FL which I’m sure are lovely places, but not where I want to spend a week of vacation in late November.
I went for a walk this morning. A nice, hour long walk in beautiful weather during basically the middle of my work day. Because work made me angry yesterday and this morning someone busted open a giant ass can of worms and I just needed to literally walk away.
It helped. I should really make it a habit.
In other randoms, I woke up with pelvic pain. It's not constant, but it's sharp enough to make me wince/gasp and it's localized to the lower left area of the groin. I can't decide if it's a weird UTI (no other symptoms though) or something muscle related (except movement and stretching doesn't increase or relieve the pain). It makes no sense, and I want it to stop.

It’s been a long time but I went to the taping of the Martha Stewart talk show a few times. It took up most of the morning. We were told when to arrive—there were tiers of seating/admission and they all had an assigned time, the taping itself was pretty quick but leaving took awhile. Especially if they were doing giveaways. We were out by lunch time though!
We are both home today so I made our “dinner” for lunch so I don’t have to wait all day to start cooking and now all I want to do is nap. I’m so full! I’m debating if it is warm enough to work outside for a bit. Or nap in the hammock lol
Oh, and I also had weird dreams last night. In one of them I was trying to figure out why all the food in our pantry was rotting and the walls were soggy and wet. Then I looked up and saw that H had stacked two massive beef briskets on the top shelves. They were also rotting (thank goodness my dreams don't come with smells because 🤢). I asked him why and he said we had agreed to dry age them and was upset that I didn't remember agreeing to that.
Fortunately this would never happen in real life because H isn't stupid lol. We are planning to cook brisket this weekend, though, so I guess I'm subconsciously anxious about it 😅
