Ultrasonic dental cleaner. Wish I'd known about these when I had my first mouth guard that I eventually had to throw away due to grossness!

I woke up at 3:30 am and was not able to get back to sleep. DH had to get up at 4 am and leave at 4:30 am to go to the airport. He went to a work conference and will be back super late on Friday night. Then I had to get up at 5:30 for a meeting at 6 am. It's only halfway through the day and I am dragging. Going to be an early bedtime tonight for sure.
Sorry DST haters. I have been feeling amazing all week. The extra daylight at the end of the day is giving me so much energy.
Same! And DS and I have been going outside after dinner to play catch or kick the soccer ball around which is such nice bonding time, which was hard to do before when we'd get home at 5pm and have to make/eat dinner and it'd be too dark/cold to go out.
I decided to try a new brand of gluten free bagels and they are...not good. I like my bagels toasted to like well done, and I did that with this brand this morning and it's like an eating a brick. Insert sad face emoji.
I have never found any kind gluten free bread that's worth it. Have you?
If you like flour tortillas, try the Mission Almond Flour tortillas! I put the off for months then finally tried them and they are amazing warmed over the stove. It's so nice to have something else after ten years of corn.
I actually like the Canyon Bakehouse breads, but have not found their bagels in my local store. I just had a sandwich for lunch using their Honey White Bread and it's pretty decent. The slices are like normal sized bread, which kind of makes them a calorie bomb at 110 calories a slice, but it's totally worth it. I also find that if I toast the bread (and this goes for any gluten free bread I've tried) it holds together a lot better as well. I have not tried the Almond Flour tortillas, I'm going to look for them because I've been having a hankering for a quesadilla.
My DS did have trouble falling asleep last night and now I wonder if it is related to DST. He played for over an hour at the park after school, and then we went outside again for maybe 30 minutes after dinner, so I figured he would be tired between that and school, and he didn't fall asleep til probably 10:45. I hope he's not a freaking mess this evening.
I am not really understanding why you would go on a trip with people you're not close to and don't seem to like (a snail!), but I think when you go on trips with people you DO like it's very normal to share a room.
I’m starting to wonder the same thing, lol. I do have fun on these trips generally, and like three of the four women. I really wouldn’t want to share a room with anyone other than my H and kids though. I need time to recharge by myself at the end of the day and my own space.
same. I travel with my BFF regularly, but that does not mean we want to share a room.

I do an annual trip with a couple of good friends, and the whole point of the trip is that we don't have to share space with anyone, INCLUDING our husbands and kids lol. We literally call the trip Alone Together. I mean we clearly share kitchen/living spaces, but the understanding is that any one of us can just peace out back to their own room without offending anyone else.
this is the dream vacation.
rubytue I just soak mine in denture cleaner every morning and that seems to do it? Before that I was just brushing it daily and it got so gross. This cleaned it right up.
We’re having a family Zoom with the in-laws on Sunday afternoon to discuss a Thanksgiving vacation. Original idea was Norway in the summer, but SIL2 and her family ruined that (no I’m not bitter at all, why do you ask? 🤣)
It will be a group of 10-13 people depending on whether or not some significant others come. Ages 20-83. Priorities are non-extensive travel for the older folks in Florida and not being too remote (this family tends to have medical emergencies on vacations lol). They want a mix of relaxation and activities. Some of us (me & SIL1) want a more interesting or exotic or at least warm/tropical location. Some are suggesting fucking Georgia or Amelia Island, FL which I’m sure are lovely places, but not where I want to spend a week of vacation in late November.
Should be an interesting discussion!
My family is doing Cancun again over Thanksgiving and it should check all those boxes. Like you, we go there because we have a range of ages and interests so it kind of works for everyone - my sister who doesn't like doing anything can just lay at the resort all day while my H and I can go see ruins or to an island or whatever to sightsee. And then we can meet up for meals and go sleep in our own rooms. I don't know much about the actual town of Cancun because we haven't done anything other than resort, so don't let its party reputation scare you off.
That said my H and will now be going for our 3rd time with my family (4th overall for me) and IDK what we're going to do off resort, I think we've done everything we really wanted to. I need to do some research. A full week of just laying around is too much for us.
I haven't done a girls trip in a while, but I don't think it would occur to me to do separate rooms unless we are renting a whole house. I would absolutely want to share a hotel room because they are expensive! But I'd rather not share a bed at this point in my life.
Related, on my study abroad trip next week I have to share a room with 2 random girls that I don't know and I'm NOT looking forward to that. I know it makes sense but I'm kind of irritated that there is only 1 male on the trip so he gets his own room the whole time while us girls are crammed into triple rooms. I'm also a little surprised that there are hotels that even have 3 beds, but we were told we'd all have our own so... that better be true! I managed to survive a similar situation in Europe in the past, but I was also 10+ years younger at the time so I have a distinct feeling of being too old for this shit this time.

I was able to pay an extra $200 to get my own room for Costa Rica. Thankfully! No one wants to hear my snoring or put up with me getting up early.

My office is having a St Patrick’s Day lunch today and the whole place smells like corned beef 🤢
I forced myself to run last night, I usually hate running in the evenings because I do better with an empty stomach. Much to my surprise, it was my fastest mile yet. But I must have been scrunching up my shoulders because I have a kink in my neck.
Update - Costco replaced my tires with no issue! There were all sorts of warnings about my ordering tires that don’t match my car, and I was concerned.
I prefer not to share a room, and definitely not a bed! This last girls trip (a cruise) I ended up in a room by myself and that way awesome! Social time and escape to quiet time. The night before boarding, we shared a room. There were two beds and a pull out couch, and I took to pull out couch. The others were like, ohm you can share. But nope nope.

H bought a corned beef to cook the other day. I remember last time we did it, we were living with shared walls and my neighbors commented about the smell. And we never did it again lol. But we no longer have the reasoning to avoid, so I guess he wants to again.

we had three beds in a few rooms at various hotels across Ireland! Fingers crossed it is that way for you!
I have always hated sharing a room/bathroom with someone other than family. PDQ: I skipped out on my birthright trip because I had such severe anxiety about sharing small spaces (tents, hotel rooms) with strangers.
ETA: I have since gotten over some of that anxiety but sharing a bed crosses the line. I will sleep on the floor before I sleep in a bed with someone else, lol. I went to the KY derby with 4 friends. We all shared one hotel room (this was ten years ago) and I slept on the worlds shittiest cot and would go use the bathroom in the lobby just to have a smidge of privacy from 4 other women.
I went for a walk this morning. A nice, hour long walk in beautiful weather during basically the middle of my work day. Because work made me angry yesterday and this morning someone busted open a giant ass can of worms and I just needed to literally walk away.
It helped. I should really make it a habit.
In other randoms, I woke up with pelvic pain. It's not constant, but it's sharp enough to make me wince/gasp and it's localized to the lower left area of the groin. I can't decide if it's a weird UTI (no other symptoms though) or something muscle related (except movement and stretching doesn't increase or relieve the pain). It makes no sense, and I want it to stop.

Oh wow, I am so jealous! That was NOT an option for this trip, but I definitely would have paid extra to do that! Maybe not tons extra but a couple/few hundred dollars would be worth it.
I am definitely worried about snoring, both myself and others.

DH and I are headed to Cancun at the end of April. Our resort is very close to a ferry that takes you to Isla Mujeres. We plan on spending at least two days over there. We have been before and it's so nice because it's walkable or you can rent golf carts. The beaches are mostly public and renting chairs and umbrellas is super cheap. Also, lots of restaurants and shops. Check it out if you've never been!

That's good! I have honestly never looked for rooms with 3 beds so maybe that's why I haven't seen them, lol. These are popular locations for backpackers and study abroad so they are probably better equipped for weird configurations of travelers than your average hotel.
I am with you on the anxiety. Honestly, I am excited and grateful that I'm going on this trip but between the rooming situation and having a fairly new dog that is very attached to me (and a H who will do just fine taking care of him but isn't his usual caretaker) I'm a lot more apprehensive about things than I thought I would be. I'm sure it will be fine once I'm there but I'm some strange mix of extremely nervous and excited. It also sounds lame but I'm going to miss my H! We've been together over 10 years and have never spent this much time apart. I've always been up for any adventure but it's interesting how things have shifted as I have gotten older.

Thank you! We did go there the first time we were in Cancun together, but we had a blast and that's a good suggestion of something that would be fun to repeat. It was a decade ago so I guess it would feel fresh regardless.
We've also done Tulum and Chichen Itza, which are definitely worth it if you haven't done those yet! We rented a car and drove to Chichen Itza and it wasn't too bad of a drive. Supposedly there is a new train system in the area too, though I haven't looked at it myself yet.
RIP my favorite Tory Burch neutral flats that I found randomly at a Nordstrom Rack many years ago, pre-Covid.
The soles are giving up and coming unglued. I have never been able to find a decent replacement. :(
Are they the type of shoe that you could get re-soled? Most leather repair shops will re-sole leather shoes. The last time I had this done was for my favorite pair of leather riding boots, and I think I paid maybe $35?

I wish, they have a ribbon details and that's starting to fray, so I think it's time.
I've been searching poshmark, mercari, etc and cannot find another pair.

we did this too and it was so incredible. We did it when you were still allowed to climb the pyramid which they stopped shortly after, so it felt really special.

For those that are having a hard time with sleep, the Calm app has been especially lovely. I like it for work so I can have ambient noise instead of music, which can feel distracting. And for sleep, I set one of the soundscapes for about 45 minutes and I'm out like a light. I think it helped DH, too. Highly recommend.
My random is that I feel like I have a million things going on right now and I can't figure out how to prioritize anything. I have to plan a trip to Chicago with DH for his work conference (I'm going with him), we are still in the midst of an ensuite bathroom remodel which has completely upended our house due to so much of it being overtaken by the work. That means we have a few rooms that are untouched, but being encroached upon by laundry and stuff that would normally go in our closet (blocked off) or bathroom (we're sharing with the kids and have been for a month). We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, thank goodness, but OMG it cannot happen fast enough. It's also been GS cookie season and doing booths and putting together orders with DD who is ambivalent about it all at best, so it's mostly me having to keep track of everything and 'encourage' her to get off her tush and help me.
I want someone to come to my house and do a deep clean once the bathroom is done but DH won't hear hide nor hair of it, and it's annoying me. How do you convince your spouse that it's a good thing to hire out work sometimes? He was all for it for the gardeners since he hates mowing the lawn, but for housework? NO. "Not when we can do it ourselves." UGH.
And because I don’t like starting a new thread for random questions - how do you clean retainers/night guards? I brush it, soak in cleaner daily, and occasionally soak in H2O2. But, I just feel it needs something more.
Ultrasonic dental cleaner. Wish I'd known about these when I had my first mouth guard that I eventually had to throw away due to grossness!
Do you have a rec for an ultrasonic cleaner? DS has a retainer, and DD will be getting one in a month or so. Both at the clear/Invisalign style, so I've been considering one of those cleaners. I was going to ask the orthodontist for his thoughts on it too.

Do you really think those of us who have sleep problems haven't tried everything? No the sleep app doesn't work just like the other 15 things don't work.
It's like saying to someone with depression have you tried smiling today. It's insulting at best.

I don't, I don't have a new mouth guard yet, but will soon. I stumbled over these by accident, it seems to me they're all the same.
I have some stupid anxiety about DS's practice tonight. The anxiety is solely because I have only been to this park/baseball field one time and I don't remember the layout or where the parking is. I'm worried about dumb things like will there be enough parking (because multiple practices are going on), and I'm also in H's car today which is much bigger so I hope the spots are not tight, lol. Anyone else get like this before driving new places? Once I do this once and I know the lay of the land, I'll be fine. God I'm such a weirdo.

wildrice have you done Sac Actun? It was one of the coldest things I’ve ever done. We had a whole day visiting Tulum and a few different cenotes, but Sac Actun was by far the coolest. You swam through a series of caves.
