This is stupid, but are there any kindle/goodreads users who can help me with an issue? I usually only read 1 book at a time, and I have my kindle set to automatically update goodreads with what I'm currently reading/when I'm finished. But I also read outloud with my kids, and lately I've been getting kindle books to read with them instead of physical books too. When I am early on in 'my' book, book A, and I click out of it to go back to my library to open book B, even if I'm only like 10% into book A, goodreads marks me finished with book A and send me the email that I completed it and asks if I want to review it. And then, when I click out of book B and back to the library, it does the same thing, marks book B as completed.
I know it doesn't really matter as I will eventually finish book A and B and can even update the dates I finish them when I go back and write reviews of them, but it annoys me that it sends the email the 1st time I close out of the book prompting me to write the review instead of when I actually finish the book. I like to write a review as soon as I finish when it's fresh in my memory, because that is my whole reason for using goodreads...I almost immediately forget everything about the books I read except for what I write down about them!
I don't know if you can change the issue you are having, but can you just put your kindle on airplane mode so it can't connect to gr until you want it to?

I've had this issue too as I use the Kindle app on my phone, and the physical Kindle. It also has trouble updating what I'm currently reading to my list, even though I check when I start the book to make sure "mark as currently reading on GR" is checked off yes.

Could you try not letting it mark your book as “currently reading” and only have it to show as “read” when you are at the end and the rating page shows up? That’s my set up and I don’t have any issues even if I’m reading multiple books. You can always add the start date later if you like to track that.
To a degree yes .... the latest breakthrough came on the heels of an incredibly rough afternoon and evening. She's doing great at her uncle's house and he's enjoying to get to know her better
It sounds like that’s working well for all of you! Your brother is an amazing brother and uncle!!!
It's her dad's brother that is stepping up. He's an amazing uncle for doing this and helping end a generational curse.
The issues with her dad didn't carry over to his family. I made it a point for her to continue to have contact with them after the divorce. They have been a huge help at times.
eta: I realize that I am incredibly lucky in that I was able to maintain a good relationship with my xh's family after the divorce given the custody situation.

That’s amazing! I’m glad to hear that she has support from both sides of her family despite the struggles her father has.
