I just started Project Hail Mary (same author that wrote The Martian). Itβs sci fi which is not usually a genre I pick, but have heard great things about it from several people.
I also have Demon Cooperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and Leave No Trace by Mindy Mejia on my list to read this month.
I loved Project Hail Mary and Sci fi isnβt my normal jam.
I really enjoyed 7 Husbands. I think that was the first TJR book I read and then I think I've read all the rest of hers now too.
I blew through the Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner in a few days on vacation last week. It was a fairly typical storyline of her books, but I liked it
I'm waiting for a ton of holds on Libby and read So Long Chester Wheeler by Catherine Ryan Hyde (which was free on Kindle) and really like it!
Also read the Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (recommended on here), I had kind of a tough time getting through this one, but ended up liking in the end.
Currently reading Shark Heart per many glowing reviews from here too!
I'm listening to The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green for my friend book club. Others are loooving it but it's too memoir-y for me. I like all the science and history bits, though. For my social justice book club we're reading Asian American Dreams by Helen Via. Very interesting and timely.

I just finished The Women by Kristen Hannah. I like the way she tells stories, and this one was no exception. I always feel like I learn things I should have learned in school when I read her books.
Going back to finish The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams. It too me a bit to get into this one, but I'm excited to go back to it.
Iβm listening to Yellowface by R. F. Kuang. I find the plot engaging and want to know how it ends, but the main character just keeps getting worse and worse. I realize this is probably the point.
I am currently reading it. What an unlikable character.

Books made into tv.
Is anyone watching Gentleman in Moscow or Shogun? I find both to be excellent adaptations.
One of my goals for the year was to read classics I'd forgotten about or never got around to reading. Tree grows in Brooklyn was worth the 6 month wait. And for a book written so long ago, clearly I'm not the only one impressed with its staying power.
Iβm 4 pages into The Women and itβs bugging me that the narrator is using Mom & Dad, but writing from a third person POV. Mom & Dad seem like titles/names that should be coming from a first person POV.
I just finished Every Move You Make. 3 stars I normally like stalker thrillers and I did find the premise interesting (a group of stalking victims decides to stalk their stalkers to turn the tables), but some things were just implausible/illogical and I felt the book went on too long. However I did appreciate the authorβs note where she details her own experience being stalked. And overall it did keep me engaged and wanting to know what would happen next.
Just downloaded and currently reading How To Kill a Guy in 10 Ways

Last summer I spent the summer reading books I thought I shouldβve read in the 90s. I think Iβll do it again this summer, and maybe Iβll do classics!
I also check books into tv for the upcoming year when I look for a new book!
Just finished the husbands secret by liane moriarty, her books are always good.
Before that I read the Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner which was also good.
Not sure whatβs up next but looking at the thread for ideas. Iβm trying to read a book a week this year and spend less time scrolling social media.

We should start a separate group with suggestions and discussion of "books we should have read."
Occasionally I'll go through top 100 lists and add them to my library wish list.
In books we shouldn't have read, a number of years ago on cep we had a live thread of box wine and flowers in the attic. A few of us never read it as a child. Fun until we passed out I'd support a similar repeat here.
Little Secrets- 3.5* It was okay, kept me engaged and was on KU.
Right now I'm reading The Heiress, which is starting off a little strange but interesting. "Everyone has a secret but we're not tell you yet" type of book. I'm also reading Sula, which is very very good.
Another upvote for First Lie Wins. It kept me up way to late finishing it. It was a fun quick read with lots of twists that I didn't guess in advance. I need to finish You're Not From Around Here, Are you? And then I have a stack of books from Thriftbooks.

eb777888, just finished The Heiress. I thought it was enjoyable enough, I'm getting so bored of some of these books I'll take anything that has an interesting story (her life).

I finally finished The Winners by Fredrick Backman. Sad that the Beartown trilogy is done. It was a little slow at parts, but the end brought me to tears.
Also recently read Red White and Royal Blue -- I tend to not read really popular books right away because I'm afraid they won't live up to the hype. This was a really fun read, though. Totally predictable, but still enjoyable. It was a nice balance to The Winners.
Also read the Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (recommended on here), I had kind of a tough time getting through this one, but ended up liking in the end.
I just started this one! I heard about it through a book group on Facebook, though, I don't remember seeing it mentioned here.
Anyone having issues with the Libby app on their kindle? I got a notification April 1st saying something about Libby no longer being supported? IDK if it is because my kindle is old and I can't update to the newest version of Libby - or if it's an overall Libby/Kindle thing? I can replaced my kindle but might need to look at something else if kindle and libby are no longer compatible. I also feel like some people were having issue with one of the library apps not working on the paperwhites?

Could it be that your library system is no longer using Libby? Libby is a phone app/website so you should be fine no matter how old your kindle is. All it does is connect your library account to Amazon.
Iβm trying to find some new audiobooks! The problem is I already read a lot so itβs hard to find something Iβm interested in and havenβt already read. Iβve worked my way through some Scottish and British series on Hoopla that my library doesnβt carry as physical or ebooks but now Iβve run out. My dream is a new to me author with a big back catalogue.
What I want is an app where I can input what Iβm looking for and it will spit out suggestions. Goodreads and Storygraph sort of do recs but they give me a lot of suggestions that are just currently popular books or books that are similar to what I read but not quite what Iβm looking for like historic fiction or books written by men.

I use the Libby app on my phone so maybe try that? I don't read on my phone, I just use it to browse/check them out and then they get automatically sent to my Kindle when I turn on the wifi.
I haven't heard anything about switching from Libby, but my system just switched completely TO Libby last year so I doubt it's going anywhere soon.
