I’m getting my first pedicure since the fall, they’re gonna have to pull out the big guns for these hooves! Having my nails done as well. My coworkers all got me a gift certificate for it as a really sweet gesture of support for what I’ve been dealing with. They are the best.
This week has been odd, but in a good way I guess. After I freaked out about STBX taking the dogs to the gf’s house, I think his sister must have had a word with him (because I finally gave her an earful too). He told me he won’t do any more overnights while he’s still living in the house, apologized for the dog stunt last weekend, and said he will be overall more helpful around the house, which he has. He also committed to not drinking for the rest of the month. Really needs to be more like the rest of his life, but I’ll take it for as long as I have to live with him. He’s stuck to that as far as I can tell and it’s made him a lot easier to be around. We had a decent, friendly convo earlier in the week about dividing up our furniture and belongings. Im seeing him actually now trying to process what’s happening rather than self medicating and being in denial. He’s also started therapy and has started additional antidepressants, so I hope for his and DD’s sake this is the start of a positive turnaround for him to finally get healthier mentally and physically.
We recently upgraded to a much nicer espresso machine, and it is definitely one of those things that you get and suddenly can't imagine living without. I did not think anything would ever take over from my stand mixer as my favorite appliance but we have a new countertop contender.

My fancy espresso machine was my 40th bday present to myself when we were all in covid lockdown. It is seriously my favorite.

I was hoping for a relaxing weekend. Instead I tripped walking around my bed and kicked the bed post. I may have broken my toe. I definitely lost the nail. Now I’m debating on urgent care or buddy toeing to see if it helps.
Would you go to a doctor over this or not, and if so, what kind of doctor? So I've had a stiff neck for MONTHS. I had abdominal surgery back in Aug. that required I sleep propped up on my back for 6 weeks, and pretty much as soon as I recovered from that, I broke my elbow in Oct., and I had to sleep with my arm immobilized during that recovery, so I basically slept on my back with 2 pillows so I was almost sitting up, with another pillow under my arm so it was the same height, and this was for almost 10 weeks, pretty much until Christmas. I normally sleep on my side with an arm under a pillow, so this was a LONG period of time to have to sleep on my back, and by the time my arm healed, I was very much ready to sleep on my side again. So I noticed pretty much as soon as I started to sleep regularly on my side again, I was waking up with a stiff neck every morning. I figured it was just from not being used to sleeping on my side and it would go away eventually, but it didn't. In January, I started trying different pillows of different heights because it got annoying, along with doing stretches. Nothing has helped. I am still sore every day. I've tried heating pads, NSAIDs, stretches, yoga (I still work out daily but have started with targeted neck/arm/shoulder stretches daily now). And now, when I turn my head, I can hear/feel a clicking noise like when you crack your neck, but it happens every time I fully turn my head both ways, every time, every day. So I am pretty sure something is off/misaligned with my neck/shoulder, but the pain is so minor. When I told my dh (who is a doctor) about it, he was like, welcome to being old. I'm tempted to see a chiropractor, but again, my dh is a doctor, and he is really not a an of chiropractors, especially for neck stuff, so he has me really nervous about that. But I don't even know who else I would see to fix this? So if anyone made it through all of this, you get a cookie, and if anyone has any suggestions, I'll gladly take them!
If you’re uncomfortable then you absolutely should be seen/try to find a resolution. I would start with your primary so they can determine if imaging is needed and start physical therapy. I would def do physical therapy over a chiropractor.

I hurt my neck when my dad was sick, probably a combination of sitting in the hospital chair and just stress. It was a pinched nerve and I saw an orthopedic dr for it. Muscle relaxers helped but I think the biggest change for the better was an ergonomic pillow for sleeping. That was the suggestion of my primary- he didn’t treat me for the pinched nerve, but he commiserated with me about it.
Got up to make sure DD up to get ready for tech rehearsal, then got myself a cup of coffee and got back in bed to read for an hour before taking her to school and picking up groceries.
Otherwise I purged clothes and swapped summer/winter stuff, and did most of my packing for this week. Still want to get in a workout and then the kids and I are meeting friends at the MS spring musical. DH should be home later tonight!

I am in full Passover cleaning mode…except I took a break and have been on the couch for too long. I really need my kitchen done so I can start cooking tomorrow. I’m overwhelmed and just want to take a nap.

I took yesterday off from work to spend the last day of April break with DD. I had been putting off a big project at work that I really hate, but I told myself if I finished it by Thursday I would take Friday off. We went down to the mall and a outdoor store had Stanleys 10% off, I got her one. She always said she didn't want one that her knock off was fine, but apparently she just didn't want to ask because of the price, she was so excited when I told her I would get one if she really wanted it. Sometimes these tween trends seem so silly to me, but it meant so much to her.
I am finally getting myself in gear and organizing the house. I've been so focused on painting and repair projects I haven't gone through most of the boxes yet. I am down to my last room to paint, the small den/guest room, but it is filled with crap to go through. Once I get through those boxes, I can paint it and put down some flooring (it has a plywood floor). I thought it was going to be too tiny for my office, but I measured and think it is just big enough for my desk and another piece of office furniture. If I can move my office back there it frees up enough room in the front room for DD to have a space to practice her acro dance. It will be nice for the acro mat to have a permanent home in the house. Hopefully, I can get a walk in too it's really nice today.

I got my hair done last night and while it looks good, I’m going to have to find a new hairstylist. She started in on a bunch of conspiracy theories and was clearly not happy that I would not engage with her about them. Then she said she wasn’t going to vote again until we had a “young hot guy” on the ballot. So, it’s been a good run, but I’m going to spend my money elsewhere. Ugh.
I got a run in this morning, ran some errands, and am now ready for a nap. Looking forward to vegging on my couch this afternoon!

I’m in full basic mode this weekend and binging the new TS album. The song loml tears me apart. Combined with starting to pack up the house to get it ready for sale, I was a disaster yesterday.
I came across some pool floats we were holding onto and lost it because DD was supposed to get a pool this summer and instead she’s getting….this. 😞

She's getting a happier mom. She's getting peace. Believe me, I know how difficult this all is, but you are an amazing mom and you both are going to come out better on the other side of "this".
Still trying to figure out why some of our outlets aren't working (admittedly I have put that off the last couple of days so not much has been tried!). I am thinking I will buy a new outlet today while I'm out and try replacing the one I think may be the issue. I really hope that's it because I'm already tired of making coffee in the living room, lol.
Oh snap. I got distracted and forgot. If you are still having issue next week, hit me up. Though, we are better the new outlet fixed it.
PDQ the picture, but this is my new 🎶raspberry lamé🎶🎶🎶!!! When I pulled it out, I told the lady (my age) next to me it was a raspberry lame. And she started singing. And then the 27 year old (not him, another one) was like “oh? This is a song?! What?” Dude, she has been laughing with me and encouraging me to order this for weeks, and she had NEVER HEARD RASPBERRY BERET. And then we took a survey of the other <35 year olds and nope. No recognition. *sigh*
edit - haha fencing is great for picture. No privacy face covering needed. But I still may delete it.

We went to our local nature preserve’s Earth day festival. We did a guided bird hike again. We went last year when it was snowing (lol) and there was only one other person on it besides the guide.
This year the weather was much better and it was packed! We had at least 20 other people on the hike and most were kids. I absolutely love seeing people out enjoying our trails. I did feel bad for the guide because she kept trying to get them to quiet down so we could actually hear some birds and was mostly unsuccessful 😂 We did still get to see a turkey, barred owl, several woodpeckers, a chickadee, cardinals etc.

Thank you ❤️ Intellectually I know it’s true, it just hits me all at once sometime.
rubytue I'm over 35 and don't get the reference. But, pop culture has never been my strong suit...
Prince Raspberry Beret. The kind you find in a second hand store. This could be having issues in text, because lamé (la-may) and lame.
Ah, Google tells me this song was released the year I was born. I'm good with the music of the 60s and 70s, but not so much with the 80s. I did infer the correct pronunciation though!

I'm over 35, know how to pronounce lamé and didn't get the song reference (and have never heard of the song now that it's been identified). But I'm glad you're happy with your purchase!

How have you people never listened to Raspberry Beret, much less ANY Prince song?! He’s a legend! His music is iconic. Anyway, go listen! His music is amazing.

Best concert I’ve EVER been to
Yes, me too! Musical genius AND amazing performer.
My cleats showed up yesterday and I rode the peloton for the first time. Yikes, it was drama. I have an injured foot and the shoes are so, so, so tight. They were causing an immense amount of pain and cramping. Because the clip in is so tight, I couldn’t get clipped out. I finally got my uninjured foot out, hopped over the bike onto the floor and yanked my injured foot out of the shoe.
This morning went better. I didn’t really buckle in my hurt foot other than the highest strap and found an instructor that didn’t make me want to be a bitch. But I did have to ask my H to come help me clip out because my shoe wasn’t tight enough to build up the force to do it.
Very dramatic for a stationary bike!
I don’t know if this will help but when I first got my peloton I would take my foot out of the shoes when they were still attached to the pedal. And then I’d yank it off the pedal by hand. At home only of course.

I’ve been singing the song in my head (and periodically out loud) since I saw the reference a couple of hours ago. Iconic indeed!
