We have black out curtains, which helps keep their rooms dark. I think it's easier for Jackson, in particular, to go back to sleep if he sees the clock says 6:30 or whatever, but it's still dark in his room.
major we have the light up clock. Works like a charm. He doesn't get to choose his breakfast if he comes out of his room early (unless it is an actually you know emergency.)
It also helps now that he just does quiet time or as I call it "mommy needs some alone time" breaks. I set it for an hour and tell him he has to read books or play quietly until the alarm changes color.

Okay where do I find this clock? This may be the most expensive pro boards session ever.
We also have an elf and my son loves it. Like, we have been reading the book since September and he wants to know when 'gramma' elf is coming back. We brought it with us to England last year for Christmas and he couldn't believe the elf knew to come there, he was in awe.
