My dad is personally delivering a 12' tree that he cut down off my grandparents Christmas tree farm in NC to me today. Pics will soon follow!! His exact quote was "It's fluffy". I might have to go buy some more lights for the thing, I've never had such a large tree before! Eeek!
So far I haven't done too much outside of the living room, but I picked up some mantle greenery at Joann's for $12 on BF and I made a "flat" tree out of some poplar branches.
I did! I used some old poplar branches (which may or may not have been lying in my front yard for the neighborhood to marvel at) and green yarn. I braided the yarn that connects the branches for extra reinforcement/definition. The ornament is a spray-painted ornament that my husband made as a kid out of popsicles and pasta that works well since it straddles/hides the nail.

Didn't think through the brown wreath/brown door thing though. Oh well..
And I'm still trying to figure out whether or not to put anything on the bottom left. My pinterest inspiration had a letter.. but I'm not sure.
I like it just the way it is!
I like it but I would rotate it a smidge clockwise. I'm not a huge fan of how it is right side dressy left side naked, I fell like it needs to be on an angle.

I finally got around to taking pictures. It's cloudy and overcast, but the lights still aren't very visible. I'll take some nightfall photos at some point when it's not raining at night.

miller - Target. It's in the Sabrina Soto curated section. There's a bunch of tallish cone trees and sweater-looking lone stars in the same area. Near the Smith & Hawken wood curl wreaths, but in ours it wasn't the same aisle.

making a trip there right now to check them out! Thanks!!!
I just hung up the last ornament last night and FINALLY cleaned up and put away all the boxes that housed the Christmas Decor. This is our first Christmas in the new house, and last Christmas we were in a temporary rental, so I have fully enjoyed decorating this year.
Here's the mantle
Dining Room and table-scape
The tree and foyer. Our first artificial one, but I LOVE it so much. Holds massive, heavy ornaments and no pine needles to sweep up in the morning. H wanted to decorate the stairs too, but I love the tree so much I'm letting it take center stage.
My decorating thus far has consisted of making a driftwood tree. I really want felted pompom garland for it, but I can't find it anywhere this year. I need to make/fine some tiny ornaments too. Poor tree is going to be naked for a while. I love the nod to our warm summer beach days... Reminds me that Canada isn't cold and miserable year round :-)
I'm hoping we have a real tree up before long. Part of me likes being busy and part hates that I have so little time for my house anymore.
Thanks guys This is my 2nd "Forever House" (knocks wood) so this was the first year I invested in a crap load of really nice ornaments for the tree. I drove to 5 different Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Home Goods stores to amass enough mercury glass balls for that tree. I know only you guys would understand that in a way nobody else would
I have more in my blog. I'm pretty proud because I didn't buy anything this year and I think it turned out nicely. We still need to get our tree, which we will probably do next weekend.

I like the wreath, but it does look a bit naked on the left/unbalanced. I actually like the brown, but it needs something to make it stand out from the door, like shimmer...maybe brown glitter or something.
I love that wreath! The ornament clusters turned out good...I always talk about making some and I never have.
Just a thought...do you think they would look better attached to the garland instead of dangling down?
Thanks! I wasn't sure if I liked my wreath at first, but it grew on me. It's really sparkly when light hits it!
Do you mean like attach them like clumps onto the garland? Idk if I'd like that as much. We usually just wind up lights around the garland and hang an ornament between every spindle, but I wanted to try out something new this year. I could maybe add some of those ornaments to the garland in-between the clusters?
